Ok, Carla, I'm gonna have to come to your house. We got some serious burnin' to do! LOL! I'm am SO diggin' this whole retro-soul thing that is going on right now. Too smooth, too smooth.

Soror AKA2D'91, Tamia's cd is pretty tight. I'm definitely feeling the Pop Quiz. I have given many a pop quiz in my day.

Speaking of soul music, another soror and myself are trying to plan a trip to the SoulMusic Festival in Miami on Memorial Day weekend (http://www.soulbeachmusicfest.com/). So far the only listed acts are Jill Scott (which would be enough for me) and Erykah Badu. Here's the rest that I'm hoping for: (Oh my goodness, they need to let me book the groups, it would be off the HEEZY!!) Common, Guru, Musiq Soulchild, Bilal, the Roots, hell, all the Soulquarians. But that's just my fantasy. But anyway, who else is game? We are trying to look into package deals.

Current music (songs) I'm into (the list is short as you can tell from my other post I'm trying to build my old school collection).

*Jon B - Don't Talk (I cannot get enough of that song!)
*Monica - Just Another Girl

Ok, I can't wait til next Tuesday!!! India Arie and Bilal! That Bilal CD is going to be TIGHT!!!!!!

What CD's are you thinking of adding to your collection, or did you just recently add?

The last ones I bought were all soundtracks: Disappearing Acts, Down to Earth, and love jones (been putting it off for some time now). The Roots and Amel Larrieux have a nice song on the Down to Earth soundtrack. So does Jill Scott.

I am really chillin' at work today, can yall tell?

Maxwell is definitely on my list of heavy-rotation cd's. Embrya was a great one, but didn't get the recognition it deserved. I also have the MTV Unplugged Live as well as his debut cd. They are all great.

Dave Hollister's new one is the s*#t!!! I LOVE this cd. There isn't one song on it that I can say I dislike. His website is www.davehollister.com

I know that I'm a bit late on this one, but I still haven't picked up Sade's new cd...anyone have any comments about it? Is it worth buying??

Yeah, that Sunshine Anderson song is the bomb. I'm listening to it right now, courtesy of Napster!

Yeah, that Dave Hollister CD is off the chains. I think my favorite is #14, "I'm not complete, unless you're with me." Love it.

I agree, Embrya didn't get hardly as much play as it should have. "Submerge" is my favorite cut on that CD. Ooh, I love that song!!!!!!! hmmmmm-mmmmmm!!!!! Whew... sweet nostalgia....

Ok, I know I need to quit. But I have one more. I am diggin' Missy's new song, "Get yo' Freak On." Now, she is not a lyricist, however, her and Tim make some tight beats. And the beat to that song is SO sexy, at least to me.

I'm sure I'll be back later with some more!

Another refreshing and must get cd is India Aire- Acoustic Soul. It isn't out yet, but I bet you it will be worth paying $13 for it.

It's tight, yall. I like it. I like it a lot. Well worth the wait, and definitely worth $13. I'll tell you what though. If somebody would have told me about 5 years ago that I would be diggin' ANYBODY playing an acoustic guitar I would have laughed in their face. But I like this CD.

ok, one more for today, and then I'm really going to get to work.

Koffee Brown. I was hesitant about this purchase. But I like the CD. I like the whole Mars/Venus thing they got goin' on. It's tight. My only complaint: too much profanity for R&B.

Thumbs up

I am really feelin' IndiaArie. Especially her song "Brown skin." The CD just dropped yesterday and if you like Lauryn Hill, erykah Badu, or Jill Scott...you will really like IndiaArie.
