This is so sad Were there any indications of the baby being in distress during the pregnancy? I know AI's momma had to have the BEST prenatal care in Philly.

Beyonce Sued for Stealing "Survivor"
Tue Oct 21, 5:40 PM ET Add Entertainment - E! Online to My Yahoo!

By Lia Haberman

Beyonce may be a "Survivor," but one man is claiming she got a little help along the way.

A Miami-based producer is suing Knowles, her father and fellow Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams (news) for $200 million, claiming they ripped off his music for use in the 2001 hit single "Survivor."

Knowles' publicist issued a "no comment" on Tuesday when asked about the allegations.

Terrence "T-Robb" Robinson says the song swiping occurred after he produced a track called "Glorious" in June 2000 and, four months later, sent it to Beyonc's father and Destiny's manager, Mathew Knowles.

Robinson's attorney, who filed suit in Houston on October 14, says his client was unaware that the song had been used until he heard it on a commercial.

Now, Robinson's lamenting what could have been. "I know right now I would be one of the biggest, most sought-after producers," he said at a news conference on Tuesday.

Attorney Peter J. Clarke admits that Robinson's song wasn't originally copyrighted when he passed it along to Mathew Knowles, though it later got copyright protection.

"Ultimately at the end of the day, what is going to decide this lawsuit is the music," said Clarke.

"Suvivor" comes from Destiny's Child bestselling 2001 album of the same name. The title song ranked second that year in overall single sales and scored the women a Grammy in 2002 for Best R&B performance.

According to the Associated Press, Beyonce's attorney, Thomas Sulkerson, had not yet seen the lawsuit as of Tuesday.

Also named in the megabucks suit is Sony Music Entertainment, Columbia Records, Music World Entertainment and State of Mind Muzic Inc.

It's the second lawsuit sparked by "Survivor." Last year, former members LeToya Luckett and Latavia Roberson sued the R&B group over a lyric in the Grammy-winning song they claim caused them irreparable harm.

Luckett and Roberson were ticked over the line: "You thought that I'd be stressed without you/But I'm chillin'/You thought I wouldn't sell without you/Sold 9 million."

While Beyonce denied the lyric had anything to do with the two singers, an undisclosed settlement was reached with the former Destiny's children.

I hadn't seen any accounts about the baby being distressed in the couple of articles I'd read about Ann Iverson's pregnancy.

Unhappy RIP Fred Berry

From MSN.com

Actor Fred 'Rerun' Berry Dies at Age 52
Oct 22, 6:50 PM EST

Fred Berry, the bulb-shaped, squeaky-voiced actor famous for playing red-beret-wearing Rerun on the 1970s TV sitcom "What's Happening!" has died at age 52, police said Wednesday.

Berry died Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles of apparent natural causes, police Officer Jason Lee said. The county coroner was investigating the exact nature of the death, but friends said Berry had been in ill health due to a recent stroke.

He wore his red beret and suspenders in real life, and it was unclear whether he originally brought his own style to the character of Rerun or whether he was forever mimicking the character that made him famous.

Rerun was a 1970s version of latter-day goofball TV characters like Steve Urkel from "Family Matters": loud, a little whiny, a little dim and definitely geeky. "What's Happening!", which ran from 1976-1979, focused on three teenage friends — Rerun, Raj and Dwayne — who learn about life, women and trouble while growing up in Los Angeles.

Among the more famous episodes was one in which Rerun joined a bizarre cult and another in which he got busted for making bootlegged tapes of a Doobie Brothers concert.

The name Rerun, according to Berry, referred to the character's brainlessness: In the summer, he had to rerun all the classes he failed during the school year.

Berry's success on the show was clouded by his heavy use of marijuana and cocaine. "There were dealers right there in the studio, people that worked there," he said in 1996. "In the '70s, it was like that on a lot of TV shows. It was the Hollywood lifestyle then. Everybody was doing it."

By the time "What's Happening!" ended, Berry said he had blown more than a million dollars on drugs, cars, homes and an airplane. With no acting jobs heading his way, Berry tried to live off his fame by charging to appear at shopping malls.

Even later in life, he was still cashing in: lately, he earned money by calling fans on the telephone with the service www.HollywoodIsCalling.com. About $30 would earn a fan a 30 second call.

Berry's love life was another complication. He married a dancer while in his 20s, and the two divorced, remarried and divorced again. Berry repeated that performance with his second wife, whom he married and divorced twice (most recently in 1991). He also married and divorced two other women.

Rerun brought Berry another brief moment of success in 1985, when "What's Happening!" was revived as the syndicated "What's Happening Now!" Berry quit in a contract dispute after the first season and the show ended in 1987.

By 1986, Berry says, he abandoned drugs and started to speak at churches, schools and other groups, finally working as a minister in Madison, Ala., at the New Shiloh Church Ministry.

He was still dabbling in show business. Berry recently appeared on the TV shows "Star Dates" on the E! Entertainment Network, MTV's "Doggy Fizzle Televizzle" with Snoop Dogg and in a cameo role in the David Spade comedy film "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star."

Funeral services were unclear late Wednesday.

There is a reporter for the Philadelphia Daily News named Mister Mann Frisby.

There was a story behind the name (I think) but I can't remember what it is now

4-1-1 ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 20, 2003

The relationship between Vivica A. Fox and rapper 50 Cent has hit a rough spot. The popular rapper is getting tired of her temper tantrums and her jealousy. I hear he's already cheating on her. Vivica doesn't like it when other women get close to him and that includes dancers and back up performers. Vivica made him tone down his raunchy performance at the World Music Awards. How long is the romance going to last? She's 39, he's 27 and he is the hottest rapper out there. Everybody wants to get close to him, including his new video co-star. The newly single Brandy is co-starring with 50 Cent in the music video "Stunt 101." Brandy likes 50 and she has been calling him a lot. Brandy is looking to revive her career and she thinks 50 could be her ticket. Brandy would like to have a relationship like Beyonce has with Jay-Z. In addition to dating, teaming up with Jay-Z, gave Beyonce a lot of street credit when they collaborated on "Crazy in Love." Will 50 take the bait and take up with Brandy? Not if Vivica has a say in it. She likes being with 50 and she doesn't care what anybody thinks including her ex-husband singer 6'9 who has told her friends he is not happy about her relationship with 50 Cent. He feels the rapper leads a violent life and that Vivica could get hurt. On Saturday the 25th, Vivica will be one of the hosts of the World Music Awards, 8pm on WB-17. 50 Cent is one of the honorees and special awards will be given to Chaka Khan, George Benson and Mariah Carey.

The UPN shows Eve starring Philadelphia's own Eve and the Will and Jada Pinkett Smith produced show All of Us has been picked up for the rest of the season. Both shows are doing very well in the ratings.

New books in stores include Donna Summer's Ordinary Girl. Donna talks about her life as the reigning "Queen of Disco" and what led her to almost kill herself. Donna was so distraught about being in an abusive relationship she considered killing herself by jumping out of a window. Chaka Khan also opens up in her autobiography Through the Fire. Chaka talks about her drug use and being addicted to crack cocaine. She also discussed the flak she received when she married a white Jewish guy. Chaka says she was criticized for marrying this guy and she says blind singer Stevie Wonder really gave her hell. Well, a few years later Chaka ran into Stevie at a party and he had a white woman on his arm, when Chaka confronted him and asked him what was going on he claimed he didn't know. Another autobiography on the way is Diana Ross' Upside Down, Wrong Turns, Right Turns and the Road Ahead. This book is supposed to come out in February and unlike her original autobiography, The Sparrow, released a few years ago, this book is going to tell the truth. In her previous book she conveniently left out the fact that Berry Gordy fathered her first child. Three weeks after the book came out the truth was revealed and Diana had to fess up. In the new book she addresses her daughter's hidden paternity and her failed second marriage. Just in time for Christmas, you can pick up the special edition Diana Ross Barbie Doll. The doll goes for $50 and it will be inspired by her days with the Supremes.

Mary J. Blige, Patti LaBelle and Destiny's Child are just some of the artists joining forces on Songs for Life, a CD of songs with proceeds going towards the effort to fights AIDS in Africa. For more info call 1-800-44-3311.

Dawn Robinson, formerly of En Vogue and Lucy Pearl, is enjoying married life. Dawn recently married a fellow musician and she is working on a new solo LP. In a recent interview she says an En Vogue reunion would be nice but she wants to work on her own thing. She says she doesn't do well in groups.

Prince is taking his Jehovah's Witness religion serious. Prince goes door to door in Minneapolis spreading the word. His wife and Larry Graham often join him.

Singer Barrington Henderson is suing Motown and The Temptations for firing him from the group. Barrington was in the Temptations for five years and he says he hasn't been paid for royalties for two albums. He also says the group continues to use his image and his voice on their website. Barrington has added a defamation charge because he says false statements were made about his singing voice. Make no mistake Otis Williams, the only original member of the Temptations, runs this group and if you rub him the wrong way, he will put you out the group. Otis has shown the late David Ruffin the door as well as Dennis Edwards and Ollie Woodson, who sang "Treat Her Like A Lady."

Nike has dropped Kobe Bryant as a spokeman for their company. Sources say his on going legal problems regarding his sexual assault case is getting in the way. Kobe had signed a $45 million, 5-year contract, but Nike decided to give him a $1.5 million payoff to make him go away. The company wants someone to represent a family image and with news of Kobe's adultery and the tawdry details of what allegedly happened they decided to let him go.

"Born Oct. 3, Allen wears No. 3, so the baby had to be Trey," Ann said cheerily

"He's Mister, because, back in the day, when our people picked cotton and such, the men were always called by their last name. I didn't want that for him. Then I wanted his middle name to be after someone famous. Allen's famous."

There were Allen Iverson sightings all over the Tidewater area during the weekend. At a high school football game Friday night. At a college game Saturday. At a lively party Sunday night at a restaurant not far from the Sixers' hotel. But Ann said Allen was where he needed to be when it meant the most.

"I have to thank [Sixers president/general manager] Billy King and the coaches for letting him come here," Ann said. "We sat and talked and reminisced. Allen was counting the baby's fingers and toes, getting real emotional. It was important to us to be together."
This all sounds Oedipus-ish to me. I'm sorry to hear about the death of her twin, though. But on an up note, October 3rd is a PRETTY nice day!
