As would Mr. Marc Jacobs, the designer of Louis Vuitton. Those Murakami bags, which don't look really good, are already being knocked off. I wouldn't spend $1,200 for this:

What kinda Rainbow-Brite mess is that???? Yuck! I betcha homegirl thought she was "stylin' and profilin'" for real though. LMBO.

Girl, the knockoff mess is already all over eBay. Sorry, if I ever get a Vuitton (I prefer Hermes ), I will get the good' ol classic signature brown or an Epi. I really like the Epi leather.

That is just plain stank. It looks like she made that mess at home a couple of hours before prom.

Junior (1989)/Senior (1990)

Did you go to your prom?

Yes, both junior and senior year. My junior prom was the night before my birthday, so I went to the prom 15 and came home 16.

What did you wear? Colors?

My junior prom dress was fuchsia and black with black velvet bows that I bought off the rack at Macy*s ... as soon as I stepped off the elevator I knew I had to have it. I was still rocking the curl then and I had a tail added (I was unbeweaveable)!

Senior year I had a lavender/silver two-piece dress made. By then sistah had a perm!

I still have both dresses, and they stopped fitting a long time ago!

Were you prom king/queen?

No. Our class president won senior year. I don't remember who got it junior year.

Did you go with someone special or friend?

I went both times with really nice guys. I am still friendly with both, but now that I'm engaged I haven't been keeping in touch.

Junior year date took me to the Adam's Apple in Manhattan after the prom and we danced for a little while ("You got to show me, got to show me a little ...")

Senior year date took me to the Hard Rock Cafe in NYC after the prom -- he ordered a sundae and spilled chocolate syrup all over his tux.

What was your prom theme?

1989 -- "Nothing Is Forever but Memories Last" -- This was a compromise between "Make It Last Forever" by Keith Sweat (which the black girls wanted) and "Hold on to the Night" by Richard Marx (which the white girls wanted) (I went to a single-sex high school). We held a meeting after school to resolve it and it ended up in a tie! Thus, the prom committee created a theme using the lyrics to both songs.

1990 -- "Here and Now" (wasn't this everyone's theme?)

How much did your prom cost? Some proms now have ish prices?

I don't recall, but not nearly what the asking prices are today.

Yup, I went to my prom.

My colors were black and gold. My date match me all the way down to his shoes. He had gold beads on his shoes like my dress.

No, I wasn't queen. I don't even know who ran for queen or king. Actually now that I think about it, I don't even think we had a contest for it.

I went with the drummer for my church choir. He was a really good friend of mine. He ended up taking two other people to prom from my choir. Yeah, he was the choir pimp...

Our theme was "Drifting on a Memory..." (you know, the Isley Brothers ...aint no place I rather be than with you...)

I paid over $400 for my dress. It was DEFINITELY a waste of money...

Did you go to your prom?
I attended my junior and senior prom

What did you wear? Colors?
Junior - black and white
Senior - purple

Did you go with someone special or friend?
My father was my date to my senior prom. He never had a chance to attend his prom. Some people thought it was weird, but I am glad he was my date because he passed away my freshman year in college after a 4 year battle with cancer.

Re: Let's Try This Again

someone's mama needs to be SHOT! this ain't right and it has got to stop.

People of GC, can we make a pact that we will NEVER EVER EVER allow our kids, our friends' kids, and even our ghetto cousin-in-law's kids (who are bad as h*ll and we got to watch extra close) EVER to consider wearing something like that.

my feelings are really hurt. Queens - when are we going to honor ourselves? If not at the prom (one of our "fairy tale" evenings), then when???

Thumbs up Senior 1994

Did you go to your prom?

Yes, in my senior year. I was 16.

What did you wear? Colors?

My prom dress was white acetate, which I loved b/c it was form fitting but stretchable. I also wore white stockings, shoes and had a white purse to match!

I still have the dress, and I can still fit it!!!

Were you prom king/queen?

No. The class flirts were prom queen and king. Ironically, the prom queen danced with her boyfriend and not the king. And the prom queen was wearing orange and black. All I could think of was, "Happy Halloween!!!!!!!" She looked like a big pumpkin!

Did you go with someone special or friend?

I went with a guy who was the son of a bus driver my mother knew. One day my mother was telling her that I was getting ready for my prom. The bus driver asked my mother, "Does she like to laugh?" My mother answered, "Yeah, she laughs like an old Jewish woman." The rest is history.....

What was your prom theme?

Don't remember, but the yearbook theme (I was on the committee) was, "Keep rising to the top."

How much did your prom cost? Some proms now have ish prices?

It was $40/couple, and I think $25-30 for singles.

Overall, my prom was good b/c I got to see what a lot of the girls were wearing, including girls that never wore dresses before to school. Another highlight was when my date and I walked in and most of the girls I knew ran to me w/ their mouths open b/c I'd never had a boyfriend and didn't think that I'd come w/ a date. I was CTFU for about a half hour. My mother drove us there in my father's black Lincoln Town Car and drove us straight home afterward. But the major highlight for me was what happened to some people AFTER THE PROM!!! Man, some of the teachers got drunk, as did the new principal with her fake green eyes. One of my classmates who had no date but had his own limo got drunk and passed out in the limo. Everytime he aggravated someone I knew, they'd call him a drunk bastard and we'd all CTFU.
