I went and met with my Rho Chi and got invited back to Pi Phi and Alpha Chi. I had thought about it all night long and I didn't really want to go back to Alpha Chi. I didn't feel like I had connected to a lot of the people who had stopped by to talk to and I wasn't sure if I wanted to go there so I voiced my concerns to my Rho Chi and she said if I didn't really want to go to AX for Pref night I didn't have to. So I'm only going to Pi Phi tonight. I know I should have given AX a chance, but I didn't really love my time there like I did at the other three houses. I also couldn't see myself at the house. I know I'm going to Pi Phi first and then I sign my pref card at 7:30.

I'll let everyone know how it goes tonight!

Thanks so much everyone for your support! I just signed my pref card and I put Pi Phi first, and Theta second. My Rho Chi said not to suicide Pi Phi even though I only went to Pi Phi. I really loved the beautiful ceremony, slide show and letter that I experienced during preference night. I LOVED it there, I was worried that I wouldn't feel at home there and I did!

I have to wait until 10 AM to know if I didn't get a bid. They are going to call us from 10-12 if we didn't get a bid and if we don't get a call we meet at 2 to find out who extended us a bid. I started crying about three times tonight while at the house...I looked around and the girls there felt like family. I hope that they felt the same way about me! I'll let everyone know if I recieve a bid or not!

Jess, I'm so glad you felt at home in Pi Phi today. Good luck tomorrow with Bid Day and be sure to update us - we'll be crossing our fingers for you and dying with suspense!

Huh? How can you pref a house you didn't go to? I'm confused. I don't think this can be done at OSU.

Congratulations with rush. I wish the best for you and your new chapter (you will love it) Pi Phi is a great sorority and you will have a blast. Pi Phi has a lot of tradition because it was one of the first so remember to cherish it and carry on the tradition. My sorority experience is something I hold dear to my heart....I hope you have has many cherished memories as I do. Again, have a blast!!!! Let us know tomorrow about bid day.

you can always put a house on your pref card even if you did not attend their pref parties..the odds of you being on their bid list are slim to none, but if you do put a house on your pref card that you did not pref, if that house does not make quota and you do not match with any other houses, you can be picked up as a snap bid
does that make sense?

At my school, if you suicide, you can't go through COB at the house you suicide, and you're not eligible to snap bid. I know it's not the same everywhere, but these provisions were put in to stop dirty rush by sororities, and to hopefully encourage women to not suicide just one group.

Great job, jharb! Like others said, Pi Phi is a great org, and I'm sure that you're going to be able to call those girls "sisters"! Not sure how it is at other schools, but if a PNM cries during pref....she's golden.

Hmm...I'm not sure if I can explain this, but I can sure try! I go to Butler btw. Anyway, we had soo many more girls go through rush this year. I think somewhere around 350 girls went through rush. I know when I went through formal rush last year I was given the choice to put another sorority down for my pref although I only went to one house. I know with my house we had some girls come back tonight (pref night) who didn't come back to 4 Party. Those were the girls who regretted our invitation with interest. I'm not sure how the other houses do it, but it may be similiar to us.
