I never heard back from the submission, but that's not the least bit shocking - they're going off a pic and a brief resumé.

I did want to do a little bump on this to say that Stargate officially confirmed their plans to put a movie studio about 20 min. from my house. If you are the kind of person that believes in signs from God, this could be considered a giant neon one for me. Here's hoping and praying.

Self-pimp moment again (because that's basically what this thread is about - yeah, I admit it)...

I started a blog about my journey. I know it's not cool to use GC to pimp other websites, but after a few thousand posts, it's pretty clear that I'm not just spamming my blog...like a few others...ahem.

http://mywalkonwater.blogspot.com/

So yeah, there you go. More Step 4.

Auditions tonight, Friday, and a week from Saturday. Wish me luck (or broken legs...whatever)!

I just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents here. Ashton Kutcher was "discovered" in a bar and put through a showcase in Iowa City, Iowa, capital of the acting universe, right? I don't know if he had to pay.

That being said, I had a friend in college who acted on the side (she's in 16 Candles in the dance scene in the gym, for instance) and she said the pay to model or pay for lessons on how to put on make up or whatever is a complete rip.

So I guess you decide which side of the coin to rest on. I think if you've got the money and consider it fun (and not desperation), then great! And it sounds like this whole process gave you the motivation to actively seek work. If paying some cold hard cash lit a fire under you, then it was probably money well spent.

Break a leg on the audition!

Oh, and I may be auditioning for some voice over work soon. This organization is looking for different accents and is now looking for Americans. You should hear some of the radio ads here in Dubai! And really, if you're going to have an American saying the words, you really can't have them saying shedule instead of schedule. If you want shedule, hire a Brit! /climbs off high horse

Just another piece of advice (which I know isn't wanted because you assume that I am a "hater") but here goes: your picture should be unbelievably compelling. Not "cute" not, "OMG, what a pretty picture." That picture is what will generate interest in you. If you are not getting 4 or 5 auditions permont (and that is "slow") something isn't right. Please note: for every job (acting) in Los Angeles there are 5,000 submissions. Casting directors may see 500 (and that is a lot). Final callbacks will be anywhere (this is for commercials, not series or movies) from 4 to 10. That's it.

I actually don't think you are a "hater", but you're also not telling me anything that I don't already know. I don't mean that in a snarky way (even though it will probably come across that way). I think people got the (wrong) impression that I just woke up one day and decided that I was going to be an actress. This is not the case. I did my first full-fledged musical when I was in 5th grade. I've been doing bits and pieces ever since then. What stopped me from pushing harder for this up until now was a) my weight (and the confidence issues that go along with that) and b) my singing ability, which didn't really develop well until my Jr year of college, and is still improving even now. The majority of things I had been auditioning for were musicals, which require singing ability.

As for the amount of auditions - I am in Charlotte, not LA. Opportunities here are much fewer and far between, but they are there.

BTW, last night's audition was not spectacular. I had several factors working against me: the two female leads are both technically out of my age range (one was posted at 16-21, the other 40-50), the pianist was a sub, and I had a rehearsal to get to right after, so I rushed myself through my audition. It was Sweeney, for any of you interested.

No. Unfortunately, that was already pre-cast.

News from the entertainment front....

My agency submitted me for a modeling job for the first time (I'd been somewhat reluctant to go that direction), AND I BOOKED THE JOB!

I'm doing some pictures for an internal project for an international marketing agency's Charlotte operations. I'm not exactly sure what all it will entail, but I do know it's being shot in a grocery store. Not exactly Falling Princesses or hanging from a hot air balloon (like my sister, Lauren Brie got to do), but it's paid work and credit.

Also: The movie cast list is posted!
