Excellent answer, aopirose! You are correct!

Yes, Jobelle Holcombe, a founder of Chi Omega, was Chi Omega's delegate to N.P.C. from 1906-10 (Secretary '06 & Chairman '07).

A Poem

To The Chi Omega Beech

Planted by loving hands, fostered with care,
Spread your young leaves to the sun, to the air
Fearless and free!
Symbols we cherish are buried below,
Mystic insignia, colors that glow;
May our Fraternity grow as you grow,
Little beech tree.

--Gladys Ames Brannigan, Phi Alpha

Trivia Question:
This poem, published in 1909, refers to a beech tree planted in honor of Chi Omega. Where was this tree planted?

a.) Next to the cornerstone of the Greek Theatre in Fayetteville, AR
b.) Mount Vernon, George Washington's home
c.) Greenbrier Resort, site of many Chi Omega Conventions
d.) Memphis, TN, site of first National Convention and future home of the Chi Omega Executive HQ.

I'm pretty sure Phi Alpha was here in DC, Georgetown maybe? So I'm guessing B, since Mount Vernon is really close to here!

You are right...smart thinking, Cardinal026!

Phi Alpha Chapter was at George Washington University. The active chapter and the Washington D.C. alumnae (lead by Jean Vincenheller Dengler) planted a tree at Mount Vernon on Founders' Day 1905.

The tree is no longer there.

Since USC was Phi chapter, and when going backwards through the greek alphabet that would come "before" Mu (Berkeley) - and the other 2 schools have 2-letter chapter names - I'm going with A!

Did that response make sense?!

Yessss, xo_kathy your response made sense, but alas, is incorrect.
Heh, heh, heh...I can be tricky, ya know!

Please review our Chi-O Trivia thread carefully and you will find that "Phi" Chapter was originally Hellmuth Woman's College in Ontario, Canada.

Mu Chapter at Cal-Berkeley was chartered in 1902 and was the first Chi Omega Chapter in the state of California.

Additional hint needed?

This chapter had two winners of the pagent -- Miss America 1959 crowned her Chi Omega Little Sister as the winner in 1960.

THANK YOU, carnation!

Aren't you Chi Omegas just a little bit ashamed that it took a Pi Phi to answer our trivia question correctly?
