My classmate's great-grandmother died last week, under some very tragic and disturbing circumstances. Please keep her family in your prayers during this horrible time. Please pray for the family of the person who caused her death: I can't understand what kind of evil a person has in his heart to do such terrible things.

I could cry, just reading that. Who does something like that to the elderly? I'll be praying for both families.

Sisters, I need your thoughts at this time. Four years ago, the Cedar fire (and the fire in Valley Center) devastated San Diego County. Unfortunately, we're facing worse conditions now - yesterday, two fires had broken out (one near the U.S/Mexico border, the other outside Ramona, where I lived four years ago). At this point, there are approximately 8 fires burning in San Diego County, and one of the fires has seriously spread overthe course of the night. For the moment, I have not had to evacuate, but am preparing myself if that becomes an eventual concern. The entire town of Ramona has been assigned mandatory evacuations, there are other communities that have woken up to mandatory evacuations, and they have now had to open Qualcomm Stadium as an evacuation center to house the many thousands of people who are being forced from their homes.
I will try to keep you all as updated as I possibly can - right now I'm looking outside at a huge wall of smoke just hanging over the area.
Loyally,
J

Ladies, just to reiterate what Jennie said. There are now a dozen fires going off in 3 counties of southern California in addition to the ones polarpi mentioned. I know people in almost every location and I myself am about 5 miles from one. I drove past it on my way home from eboard last night and it was awful. The blazes were huge and the smoke was so thick on the freeway you could barely see. The air quality is awful right now and it looks like it will be awhile before they contain any of them.

I will keep all of California in my prayers.....I understand because this summer the southeast has gone through drought conditions with fires in southern GA and AL, as well as some parts of Florida. Be careful ladies!!!
Update on my SIL----labor inducement is scheduled for this Wednesday!!!!! A new little legacy will arrive!!!!

Many prayers going out to the Cali people - especially polarpi. I just found out tonight that a friend of mine who's a nurse in San Diego is on one of the rescue teams. If you can remember Julie & those like her, I'd appreciate it. They must all be angels in disguise.

Update from my area - we're safe here at home. The fires in my area (though not all of San Diego) have calmed down, where people in this area are being allowed back in. There's still people from my community evacuated to our local community center, but the news report for me is that I'm looking okay at the moment. Of course, I'm off "work" for the rest of the week - I think I've seen notice that all schools in the county are out of session through the weekend.
HBADPi, how goes it up north?

I thought it was getting better yesterday but its a lot worse today. We've been asked to work from home since Monday bc our office is too close to the fires and the air quality is awful. Although its not much better by my condo...the fire is essentially on the other side of the freeway from me and parts of the neighboring town have been evacuated. Fortunately I dont think we will be in danger of being evacuated but the entire sky is orange and I'm trying to stay inside as much as possible...
Glad you are ok down south! I keep hoping we all catch a break soon!

My doggie died last night. I could really use the warm thoughts as I'm not coping to well right now.

Take care of yourself, Sweetie - don't let anyone tell you not to grieve - he was your furchild. If you can on Monday, go to The Pet Loss Site. It's terribly cathartic. You can look at it now, and register Dalon's name, but on Monday nights, people from all over will be mourning with you.
And someday, you will meet Dalon again at The Rainbow Bridge. If you need someone to be there "with" you, just let me know. I would be honored.

Our chapter advisor has passed away. She had pancreatic cancer. The last time I saw her was a few months ago on bid day. It is a huge loss for the Epsilon Omega chapter. She was the epitome of class. A true ADPi. <>

May she be blessed, and her family comforted.

Can we pray for my mom. There is some stuff going on with her in her chest and head. My dad told me that we would talk about whatever is going on with her later but he didn't. I think she just had a biopsy on her chest last week. I might be able to update next weekend but I don't know.
