JoeVision was amazing! We had such a great time. The Joe was 75% full. We sat behind where the goal would be, and we didn't get glittered, but it was insane. Driving home was even better because we took Michigan Ave all the way down and once we got onto Telegraph and Ford Rd, it was CRAZY! So many people in the streets high-fiving as we drove by. Nuts! (for those who know where those places are lol)

I'm so jealous that you were at Joe-vision! I was wishing they would show the Joe .. like a split screen, when they were taking their turns skating with the Cup! But, they showed nothing
I'm so so proud of our Wings. I may get to the parade since I don't work far from there.. should be able to go on my lunch hour
I was feeling physically sick from the time the Penguins made that 2nd goal until the clock went off. I was so afraid that last second shot had gotten in and thought I was going to throw up.
Victory is not quite as sweet in Mellon Arena as if it had been at the Joe, but it is sweet nonetheless!

My husband let our boys stay up to watch the game last night. They sat on their little sleeping bags with our cat, Chelios-Lindstrom-Yzerman, asleep by their feet. The 2 year old actually fell asleep holding his miniature Red Wings hockey stick. It was a good night in our house last night.

LOL, that's so cute. Do you have a nickname or a shortened version or do you have to come out with that mouthful every time you call him?

We usually call him Chely or Chel. Naming the cat that was a compromise, my oldest orginally wanted to name the baby that (the baby and the cat arrived within a month of each other). We decided to name the Baby Nicholas instead (although I did have to fight on how to spell it since the Wings fans in my house wanted to spell it Nicklas or something).
My husband called to tell me that he covered the office of the Penguins fan he works with with Red Wings para. I guess I'll let him savor this one since he is also a Dolphins fan and will be miserable during the NFL season

Yes, but your city didn't get burned down!
I'm pretty proud of our Pens fans - they're all upbeat, and not putting down the Wings at all.

Although it's not the outcome I wanted, I'm still really proud of my team. The Pens went down fighting, making it a truly 60 minute game, and an exciting series, too. They've made such progress in a relatively short amount of time. Wingies fans, don't be surprised if they're back next year!

It's been 24 years and we haven't lived that down yet...
A few Pen fans were booing when they announced the Conn Smythe winner, but after that, they stopped.

I just found out today that the octopus tradition was started by two of my dad's acquaintances, the Cusimano brothers. Their brother sold me my latest car! (Dee, at Gorno Ford)

Of course it was Paisanos that started it
Are you going to the parade? I work so close to the parade route but it's still too far to walk (especially when it's 90 degrees) so I don't think I'll end up down there during lunch. Several co-workers are taking the day off to go down there though. People are already showing up.

I never make it down for the parades. Too many people, you have to get there too early. I'd rather work and watch on the TV.

I can see the helicoptors all hovering over Woodward... that's all we can see from our building, unfortunately.

Chely totally works for a cat. I like it. If I were a Wings fan, I'd be all for naming the kid Nicklas instead of Nicholas, since the shortened version is the same, and they sound so similar in their full forms. Oh well, he'll know who he is named after.

Excusable only for that reason.

Oh also, on Wednesday, my power went out around 3pm. I freaked out and was like, "Ok, you guys at Allegheny Power have 5 hours!" We didn't get power until 2pm the next day (and then it went out again from 530pm-830 pm). Since none of my friends are hockey fans, my family ended up going to my mom's office (which has power but no cable) and we watched the game with rabbit ears (I could barely see the players, never mind the puck). I stayed for the first period and convinced my friend to go to a sports bar with me (so I could watch the Pens and he could watch the Red Sox).

We thought about driving up to Detroit this morning for the parade, but 3 hours in the car with my kids is never fun, so instead I am picking up some souveniers from the website for the kids.
When does the 2009 season start?
