Sisters-
Here's the information for initiation weekend which is actually not that far off- (we're having colony officer elections on Tuesday night!)- if you are nearby or even close to near by- here's how you can help:
Unbelievable as it seems, initiation of the colony members at the University of Delaware is right around the corner and we need your help. As there will be 115 members to initiate, there's a great need to have over 80 sisters present to help make this happen. We know that final exams impact on some of our nearby chapters but are hoping that sisters can take some time out of their schedules to attend this historical event. Many chapter sisters across the District have served as Distant Diamond Sisters to the Alphas at Delaware, so you can only imagine how special it would be if some of those Diamond sisters could be present for their Alpha's initiation. Have I inspired you yet?
Here's the information:
Schedule of the weekend:
Friday night- visiting sisters bring ritual equipment- time and location to be confirmed separately
Saturday morning- visiting chapter and alumnae sisters arrive to Goddard school in Newark by 9:15am so we can prepare and start initiation by 10am. Initiation will be conducted in 4 rooms simultaneously in order to efficiently initiate this many women in one day.
Saturday evening- at 7pm at Clayton Hall on campus, we will have the officer installation and campus reception. This is also the time where chapter and association gifts will be presented to the colony members. So if you chapter wants to send a gift or still have tshirts or other gently used items you would like to donate, please contact me and I can give you the contact information for LC Jessica.
Sunday- installation banquet- Doubletree in downtown Wilmington- reception with Grand Council starts at 11:30am followed by the luncheon starting at noon. Gift Mart will be present for shopping opportunities. All members wanting to attend will need to pay $35 for the luncheon and should RSVP to me ASAP and send $35 to EO (attention Bethany Griffis). Dress will be Derby theme (sundresses, floral prints, think spring!!). Guests from campus, parents, dates are all invited as well.
I know this schedule may mean for some alumna and collegians that you would need to or want to stay over in the area to participate- as we are nearing year end for most chapters and many of you should have a cushion left in your budgets, please consider the ability to use some chapter funds for members to rent a hotel one evening or to attend the luncheon or pay for mileage to help encourage women to attend this event.
And if you cannot attend, we are still asking for your support- via gifts, or especially hand written notes by your chapter members and association members written to the colony members that we can provide to them following their initiation.
Please confirm dates and attendees as soon as possible. PM me
