Plus you have a really cool pin

Love the pins that ARE something -- the PiPhi arrow, Kappa key, AlphaChi harp, AZD quill, DG anchor, and Theta kite (especially with a guard)

As much as I love and treasure my badge, I gotta agree with you on that. I've always thought they looked kinda neat, but it's harder to tell they're a pin with meaning from afar - could be you just like kites, whereas a badge that's shaped like what it is I think is obvious it's not just a random pretty pin. I dunno, I'm torn! Ultimately, I think all badges look better with a guard though - makes them more official looking I think!

Just a question...and I could be wrong....

But isn't the AXO badge actually a lyre?

I just learned yesterday that AOII's colony pin is a rose. I always wondered if they just used the Sheaf of Wheat pledge pin, but apparently they started using the rose in the '50s.

Yeah, I think it's a lyre also - but it looks kinda similar to a harp. I think it's neat to go to the NPC site and look at the poster of the different pins for all the sororities - my greek advisor had it up in her office when I was in college and when I was a Rho Gamma I was in or around her office a lot so I would always take a curious peak at it. Since we only had 6 groups on my campus, there were lots of pins I had never seen before!

There was a thread just to talk about pretty pins, but I can't find it. The search function doesn't search for words with three letters, like "pin" or "NPC" for example.
