I'm so done with GC its not even funny, but this thread is a bit hard to not post in.

Twostep-

Look, I think I'm in the minority as far as thinking like you do. I'm not going to say that this crap doesnt happen in chapters. It does. Its kind of hard not to have this bullshit going on when you have cracked out motherfuckers in the chapter. In my chapter we had 2 guys who actually made GHB and around gainesville it was known as orange juice...thats what we called it because of the orange food coloring in it. My chapter was the shit before we got expelled, ask a few pikes on this board if you dont believe me. We were ballin the fuck out, balls to the wall every weekend. We had no sense of moderation. It was fun and I wouldnt trade it for anything. Back in the day it was a lot easier for students to get in UF. If you can imagine, we had a lot of hot bitches at UF. These days they all go out to USC in cali or ASU in arizona but thats beside the point. Fact was, we had tons of hot bitches and tons of drugs. It was fun but now I realize we did a lot wrong. Thats why everyone was kicked out of the chapter and the charter was pulled. Dudes were dealing drugs out of the house. Girls were being fucked in the shower room and people could watch. Do a google search for the newspaper articles in the UF newspaper if you dont believe me. I'm surprised none of us have criminal charges coming back to haunt us from the stuff we did back then. Matter of fact, a couple of my old brothers just left town yesterday to go back to Tampa and we were just talking about our stories from back then (we had the superbowl here). Where ever we went there'd be at least 10 girls getting railed and people got mad fucked up (as in not sleeping but for 2 1/2 hours over a 3 day period). It was sick. I dont miss those days at all, I dont care what hot bitch is lined up. My point is, most chapters arent like this. Yea, you have a sizeable amount of chapters out there who do this shit. My chapter wasnt filled with smart people, most of us were just hot as fuck. What most people dont realize is that when you get 100 cool ass motherfuckers together and about 90% of us are hot a fuck......bad shit is bound to happen. Throw that in with a couple brothers who make drugs, about 15 who sell them, 2 who are sports bookies and 1 who ran an escort service....bad shit happening is inevitable. Now that I think about it, I dont see how any us could have expected our chapter to survive much longer than what it did. And it was one of the first 3 frats at UF, it was formed in a city outside of UF. It was an old chapter. And yea, coke was involved. It was more like a regular thing as opposed to be involved. But still, most frats these days arent like that from what I gather. Shit is too strict now. Just know that most chapters arent like this and if you get in one maybe you'll take a lesson form me and run. But, if you stay in one....you'll get more pussy than anyone you'll ever know and you'll have the time of your life.

Goodluck.

Sounds pretty standard here, lots of binge drinking, coke, and freshman girls making....poor decisions to say the least. Hell, I was at a party at a frat house two weeks ago and the coke was brought at by like 11. Which is about the time I left b/c I'm not getting involved in nosecandy in any way shape or form.
So true. I've never seen so many people do coke until I came to WVU. I've been to so many different greek events where people are blowing coke like crazy, and it just shocks me. I know some of my friends do it and I definitely hate it, but as long as they don't do it around me, I try not to make such a big deal out of it. I've gotten pretty used to seeing it here since I've been in college. It sucks but I think it's just a large part of WVU's social scene.

When I read posts like this about WVU's greek life, I am SO glad that KD no longer has a chapter there, and I honestly don't think i'd advocate them recolonizing there until WVU greeks clean themselves up.

If you dont like coke, don't come to Florida. Most of it comes from my state.

I didn't mean to give the impression that the majority of greeks here do coke. I definitely know a decent amount who do, but I'd say there are more that don't. I thought it was pretty common on every campus, but reading these posts, I'm realzing I'm wrong.
Not that this really makes a difference, but I don't think the coke-doing is advertised outside greek life. When I've seen coke being done at greek events, it's almost always at date parties or other invite-only things. I've never seen it being done at an open party. Atleast not in public.
I'm not sure of the popularity of coke outside WVU's greek system. Maybe it is a campus-wide problem?

Whether you intended to give the impression or not, lots of posts that i've read on here (not just by you, but also by Coramor and others) give me a really bad impression of WVU's greek life. Even if the majority of greeks don't do coke, it sure sounds like a good number do. It seems that until someone gets hurt and it makes big news, campuses and greek systems will turn a blind eye, especially at a traditional party school.

And it seems that members of greek life at WVU don't seem to want to change it, either. We're not talking about underage drinking or smoking a little weed here.... we're talking hard core drug use...

The thing is, in the seven semester's I've been here, there have been A LOT of people hurt by drug use.

Chapter's have been pulled, people jailed or thrown out of college, people get seriously hurt or even die. The problem is a lot of the politics involved in some chapters and with some individuals. The reason behind these occurences are covered up or flat out ignored.

The why doesn't someone or some chapter stand up and try to change it?

I would gather from what you guys have said that AT LEAST one member of your respective chapters may be involved in this stuff. Isn't it part of your duty as a brother or sister to try to help end this?

This is all correct.

ALSO: does twostep's posting style remind any of y'all of another former GCer?

We got in a lot of trouble over it about eight years ago now. Re-organized and went from a hundred men strong to four. We are almost back to where we were before, but we learned our lesson. It's not tolerated.

The reason that it's not changed campus wide is b/c our IFC is basically worthless. I have never met such a sorry lot of guys. All they do is whine and are stuck in the past, any time anyone tries to change anything the strike it down b/c it's not 'tradition'. The head of the greek orgs is also the mayor of our town and doesn't really care. The President of the school doesn't have any credibility among greeks b/c of his actions when the chapter he was from got into trouble.

I'm confused, what's the head of the greek orgs? Do you mean the greek advisor?

Do NIC fraternities have a NIC delegate? Have you contacted your NIC delegate? Have any of the sororities contacted their Panhellenic delegate? That's what they're there for, when the panhel/greek system overall is having problems.

Yes he means the Greek adviser. Wow, that's wild. Did he get in through a lot of students voting?

It makes perfect sense that he wouldn't crack down on things if he thinks WVU's party rep is one of its selling points. He doesn't want to be the one who made the enrollment go down (not to mention all the people coming there to party) and subsequently the business in the town decrease. Maybe it's not that thought out, but that's the first impression I get.

it's one thing being a party school, but it's another thing being a cocaine school!
