Hip-Hop Honors comes on Oct. 17th. So far, I think that they are honoring Eazy-E, Wu-Tang Clan, The Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Afrika Bambaataa, Eric B & Rakim, and my girl MC Lyte!!
I can't wait!!

I'm looking forward to the Hip Hop Honors. The commercials have been very good!
I think they already honored LL. Because Nelly and Ashanti did the WORST rendition of doin' it, doin' it, and doin' it well

I will definitely be watching to see the Wu-Tang Clan. They were BIG when I was in HS. Protect Ya Neck was my theme during volleyball.

They did a very small tribute to the women of hip hop during last years Honors (i think it was last year) by allowing Salt and Pepa to perform, but they did not receive an award. They also let MC Lyte perform a small piece of Paper Thin. But it seems like everybody has forgotten the women of hip hop. I would also like to see one of these shows honor Roxanne Shante!!!

Not to invade your thread, but it seems like hip hop tends to dominate most award shows anyway.

i see what you're saying. a LOT of awards go to hip hop, but i guess that's because the music is now "pop"
i have a hard time classifying some artists as hip hop, even though itunes likes to tell me otherwise.
i thikn the VH1 awards are more geared towards old school people who may not have been formally recognized.

Lil’ Kim to perform at VH1 Hip-Hop Honors
12-Sep-2006
Written by: Alex Lang
Performance will be Kim’s first since leaving prison.
Lil’ Kim is set to make her first post-prison performance at the annual VH1 Hip-Hop Honors, in a tribute to another female rapper, MC Lyte.
"MC Lyte is at the top of the list when you talk about hip-hop pioneers," Lil' Kim said in a statement Tuesday and reported by the Associated Press.
"She paved the way for myself and any of today's greatest MCs. I'm honored to have the opportunity to show my respect and how she influenced me."
Lil’ Kim is not the only rapper paying tribute to MC Lyte. Ludacris, OutKast, Diddy, Da Brat, Fat Joe and Lil Jon are all expected to perform as well.
Lil’ Kim was recently released from jail after being convicted of lying to the jury about a shooting outside a radio station in 2001.
