I totally echo the frustration of having a hard time finding what the pnm posted. I must say that i give total props to DiamondK who has her posts in pink and everyone elses are in black. It made it easy to ignore the no so relevant posts.

I Invite You to Take... The Rush Thread Addict Pledge
Place your right hand over your heart and repeat after me:
I (your name here) do most solemnly swear that I will not be a GC psycho-stalker at recruitment.
While I am an avowed rush threads addict, I make the following promises:
I will not promote my sorority in PNM recruitment story threads,
I will not make silly preferential comments about their choice of anyonymous pseudonymns in telling their recruitment stories,
I will not wish PNM's luck in their recruitment stories thread and ask "Any updates" every three posts,
I will not call their school or my sorority to find out where/if they bidded if they go AWOL on Greek Chat.
I will not console them with promises of COB/COR or AI if they don't get the bid they wanted.
In other words, I will remain a normal and sane person. Because I understand this is Greek Chat, this is the internet, and while I may be passionate about Greek Life, I must remain above-board and rational -- because I have a life.
This is my solemn vow.
Signed,
ADPiUCF
* Disclaimer: the above is intended to be taken lightly and to be fun. I invite you to take the "pledge!"

Moi aussi!
Although, I also vow not to use any of the statements in my signature lol. I am going to assume the PNMs who join GLOs will be somehow karmically aware of the fact I congratulate them all and welcome them to Greek life.

I took the pledge, but crossed my fingers on the good luck part! I'll try to tone it down, though.

Argh. This thread needs a bump.
THE GOOD LUCKS.....MAKE IT STOP, DAMMIT!
It's only August. I don't know if I can take a whole season of this.

Now I'll probably get ripped on for my opinion, but whatever it is still my opinion...
I believe the "good lucks" before recruitment are okay.
I believe that when the PNM is posting that they have had a bad day, bad experience, are confused, it's okay for gcer's to offer advice.
Your never going to stop the people from asking "any updates".
I personally believe people are taking some things way to seriously. For example, I posted, in a jockingly manner, "get the bamboo shoots" b/c I knew Jill1228 would respond in a jockingly fashion. But I think people didn't take it as a joke. Which is fine. I can't control other peoples humor. But that is all it was, a funny comment.
I'm not going to apologize for wanting to know if she got her "dream". Some PNM's, whether you know them or not you become somewhat "emotionally invested" in for many reasons. Maybe b/c you have been offering them advice. Or maybe because you went through the same thing at recruitment, whatever the case my be.
Not that I'm not agreeing with being consciencous (spelling issue right now, sorry) of the PNM's. But that is a judgement call. On some PNM's, with reading their rush story you can get a idea that they will in fact get a bid, like your 98% sure they will. So saying "hey any updates", IMPO is okay. But then there's others where the PNM is saying that they were cut heavily or they aren't enjoying themselves, whatever the case my be and one can gather with like 95% that that PNM won't get a bid. I'm not sure if I'm making sense, it's more of a judgement call.
Now, as for the rush threads, if you don't like it you don't have to read it. No one is forcing anyone to read the threads.
Doesn't it seem like a better use of time if the threads aren't read. Instead of reading them and then going to another thread to complain about what people are saying?
Feel free to disagree with me. It's not my place to say "you have to agree with me" because it's not true.
All it is, is just my opinion.

The thing is that we WANT TO read them but there are so many bullshit "good lucks" in there that we can't find the actual PNM's posts.
What is your opinion of people saying "Ohh I like stallions, I hope you choose them because I like them! GO STALLIONS!"?
It's one thing to get emotionally involved because of a person feeling, but it's another thing to be crazy obsessed.

What does it matter if someone does say that? We have no idea what chapter the "stallions" represent in the first place.
In a rush thread I said "go Louis Vuitton" because I really want one of those purses, but I have absolutely no idea what chapter LV represents. So it's not like I'm doing a shameless plug for my own sorority.

No offense but this sounds like it's not okay for a bunch of GCer's to go and wish a person good luck because you don't want to "wade" through them.

If I was a PNM I'd want everyone to shut up and either answer my questions or let me tell my story, not have orgasms over the code names I chose because OH MY GOD ONCE I OWNED A PINK HAT, I'M ROOTING FOR PINK HATS!
But that's just me.

LOL. The orgasms part put a smile on my face (since I didn't sleep well last night and it's only 6 in the morning)
