Roll Call!!!!

There are always going to be cliques. GC is a huge community and people want to make that smaller. We all work towards that -- bonding with our sisters and brothers in the individual forums, making posts on "Greeks from ______," making friends with people who have similar interests or viewpoints as we do. The H&A -- which started out as a silly nickname poking fun at ourselves -- is pretty much just based on the above factors. You've got me and Kath and Blaine who became friendly because we're all from Wisconsin. Kiki and Jules became buddy-buddy because of geography too. Lil' Hannah was added to the mix mostly because we thought she had good taste in music. Later there were people who we bonded with because of similar political opinions -- we were always banding together in the politics forum. Later we added people to our mix because they tend to have the same views on Greek life as we did. I think it's pretty obvious that we're not some kind of exclusive club when the H&A have grown from the original four girls to more people than I can even keep track of. If you're friendly to us, we're more likely than not going to be just as nice back.

Cliques on GC aren't a new thing -- when I got here there were cliques and inside jokes, I definitely noticed them forming last summer too. They precede the H&A/Death Squad and I'm sure they will long outlast the H&A and Death Squad. It's fine if any of y'all want to lampoon us but I hope nobody actually thinks we're mean or exclusive or any of the above.

Also, I would like to point out that anybody who takes offense at the idea of a "clique" -- hi, you're on a sorority/fraternity message board.

Okay, this really is all a joke and I don't think anybody is too worked up over it. However, I have no idea who the other usernames are behind gluestick, sheetcake, hatchetface and stepford wife. There was a point where about half this message board seemed to revolve around those aliases and you really do feel left out if you're not in on the joke. Also, to be frank, a couple of those seemed to be made to lampoon other registered users and if you don't know the story of why such and such deserves the wrath of such and such it all looks awfully mean spirited.

This isn't directed at anybody. Just a general observation from the far, far outside.

Just to be clear, a lot of us don't know who those people were either. But does it really matter? Seems like they're gone now...

It doesn't matter. I know that harem /= made up user names and it's not all the same thing. Just saying, that's part of where some people's frustration is coming from. Again, no big deal.

honestly, i think there are a lot of ppl on here who do think certain (not all) members of the H&A and whatever are, in fact, mean, rude, and often disrespectful. from the simple fact there are ppl who don't post nearly as much as they used to, or that new ppl started to post, but then quickly stopped b/c of the bullying and all that....it's gotten out of hand. there's no reason to be mean, or put your IM business out here so only a few ppl know what is going on. if you form your own bonds with certain ppl, GREAT. i definitely made friends with several ppl on here....but when i mention a joke or something, i don't start a whole thread revolving around it, and the posts about it are random and minimal. if i want to talk about someone, i do it privately and i DON'T get another name so i can totally disrespect that person pretty much to their face.

and again, "EE" is a total joke......brought up to try to address the situation. even if members of whatever "group"/"inner circle" (whatever) think they are only being fun and that other ppl need to lighten up....they're only being fun with themselves and are being a source of frustration to others.

so, for now....EE is a growing community that demands respect and is quite possibly turning the tables.

Why are they so frustrating to others?

I really don't see why, if people don't like reading particular topics, they don't just stay out of them. There are plenty of threads on GC that I don't feel like reading, and guess what! I just skip over them. And it doesn't frustrate me in the slightest.

I haven't been on GC in a couple of days, and I missed this thread before it went downhill. Anyway, back to the original topic...can I be an EE girl, too? I mean, I'm obviously qualified, because I never know anything about anything that goes on here!

Anyway, I guess I'm actually beyond EE because I don't even get some of the stuff posted on this thread. Maybe we need another group. We can call it EEE for Extra Everyone Else.

you remember when every other thread in news and politics was about reagan and how super he was and how bad the dems are and all that? ok......remember how a lot of ppl found that SUPER annoying and instead of politely PMing the guy about it (or just skipping over those threads) and being adult, they instead created even more threads discussing him and his threads....of course without using his name, but you KNEW that they were talking about him. and to further make their point, they created some aliases and it was just as obnoxious as his 100 threads on reagan? yeah.....it's that kind of all the time, in your face blah blah blah. and threads with weird titles i ALWAYS read b/c before, those sometimes turned out interesting. these days, i see something with a weird title and i read it and am like, "oh....this is for ____, not for GC" ppl got annoyed with reagan threads, a lot of others also get annoyed with cliquey threads. same thing. you may not HAVE to read something, but it's still there and it's still annoying.

If I had to sit through too many threads of Reagan BS, why shouldn't you have to sit through too many threads on inside jokes that you don't understand?

I would like to point out that there were multiple people who are not in any way affiliated with a "clique" that adored Glue Stick et al. Just because you were annoyed with it doesn't mean that it doesn't have a place on the boards -- such is GC.
