Here I go again ...
Curiosity just brought up another good topic. Since we're all from different parts of the country and grew up at different times, it would be interesting to hear some of the lingo you used to use.
What about "busted" and "butter"? As in, girl, that outfit is busted or butter. (meaning nice)
or
Crunch, when somebody is wrong. And don't forget, crunch yo' munch.

Born in 1970...
How about designer jeans? A pair for everyday of the week - Jordache, Calvin Klein, etc...Members Only jackets...Did anybody mention Jherri Curls?...How about sneaking out of church to go to the corner store to buy Now-a-laters and other snacks?...Vacation Bible School - "Father Abraham, had many sons..." - The game Operation...Sundresses...Jellies (shoes)...Here is one - remember how you used to roll your hair all over and then in the morning you would comb all your hair back and then push it back up to the front?

SKEEBUNNY --- we used to say "skaburp" (I grew up primarily in SC) and would die laughing as if it was the funniest thing in the world. And did anyone else take people's "cool points" whenever they did or said something embarrassing? And what about "oh, snap!" or "dag..." whenever something caught you off guard. And here's one for all of the SC's in the house --- "bo" (example -- "daaaag, bo").
C&C 1913 --- I sang "Candy" and "Word Up" like I was on Cameo's payroll. And speaking of old school jams and Doug E. Fresh, what about "La Di Da Di..." and that part in the Slick Rick rap that EVERYONE sang ... "it's all because of you, (beat box) I'm feeling sad and blue.."
AKATUDE --- I STILL run the Cosby Show and Different World in the ground before I leave for work (Fox network) as if I've never seen them before.

I have primarily stayed out of this topic, b/c I felt like I wasn't old enough (20), but OH MY GOSH, ya'll....I's Remember!!
SkeeBunny, you are TOO funny...
What about air-brushed denim jumpers, and hammer-pants, and the red MIke Jackson jacket w/all the zippers
And your momma shouting at you b/c you left your jacks in the middle of the living room, and she just stepped on one!
And bullet-toes...
And banana clips for your hair!
And thinking Brenda off of 227 was the FLYEST dressing girl on TV
And Reading Rainbow..."Take a look, it's in a book, it's reading rainbow...."
And the colorful shirts with the sheer sleeves!
And why did err-body, try to stack their hair like Salt-N-Pepa?
And did anyone's else's brother/cousin/boyfriend have the highest box in town...what about the slope, or the step!!!!
Let's not forget about the 50 different colored jeans in your closet...hot pink, neon green, bright yellow!!!
Oh, my stomach hurts I am laughing so hard!!

Hey I too slept on this thread. I finally read it today and needless to say I was ROFL. Well I am a child of the 70's and I remember School House Rock as well. My absolute favorite one was Conjunction Junction what's your function..... hooking up words & phrases & clauses. He he he .... Okay but does anyone remember the Iron Man cartoons, and Felix the Cat. I bet you don't LOL. Or what about those stupid plastic jackets we all had for spring. You know with the roller skates on the back. Ha Ha! then you know you had a pair of jellies (shoes) to match, right? And that nasty candy necklace that you wore in 90 degree weather and sweat all over. But how many of y'all actually tried to eat that later. Dont front either! LOL. Remember when "Oh, dip!" was the hip phrase and you called people "jive turkey". Then if you ran really fast you "booked". Yup "booked" was our slang for todays jetted or what have you. Boy Archie and Edith had it right when they said " Those were the days" Ya feel me.

You guys are acting like none of ya'll never used an easy-bake oven! What's up, now I know somebody out there use to take whatever they could get their hands(cornbread) on and bake it in their easy-bake oven. After you finised eating from your easy-bake, you would use your snoopy snowcone mashine! What's up!

You all are taking me back!!! Onyx03, girl I had an easy bake oven too. It used to take about 3 hours to cook those little cakes with that 10 watt light bulb! Remember playing Red Rover and 1-2-3 Red Light. What about hoola hoops and sit and spins?
And what about these:
Decisions were made by going eeny-miney mighty mo."
Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, "do over!"
"Race issue" meant arguing about who ran the fastest.
Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in "Monopoly."
Catching the fireflies could happily occupy an entire evening.
It wasn't odd to have two or three "best" friends.
Being old, referred to anyone over 20.
The net on a tennis court was the perfect height to play volleyball and rules didn't matter.
The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was cooties.
It was unbelievable that dodgeball wasn't an Olympic event.
Having a weapon in school, meant being caught with a slingshot.
It was a big deal to finally be tall enough to ride the "big people" rides at the amusement park.
Abilities were discovered because of a "double-dog-dare."
Saturday morning cartoons weren't 30-minute ads for action figures.
No shopping trip was complete, unless a new toy was brought home.
"Oly-oly-oxen-free" made perfect sense.
Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling down was cause for giggles.
The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team.
War was a card game.
Water balloons were the ultimate weapon.
Baseball cards in the spokes transformed any bike into a motorcycle.
Taking drugs meant orange-flavored chewable aspirin.
Ice cream was considered a basic food group.
