What am I as a GC member supposed to think or do about that info? Why do I need to know that? What might a newbie PNM who checks that list out think? Will she think negative or positive thoughts about the GLOs listed?

A few thoughts:
A. The list of NPCs was begun when a bunch of GCers got excited and thought "maybe we could work our way through the NPCs!!" It wasn't meant to highlight any group as "not doing well" with GC PNMs. For example, I know that last year Gamma Phi, Tri Sig, and AZD all got new members on GC, but haven't this year. By the same token, I don't remember my beloved Pi Phi getting a GC new member last year! Obviously it's not because those groups suck, it's just a way of showing Panhellenic feeling and rooting for other groups. Personally, if a thread doesn't have Pi Phi, I'm ususally rooting for SigDelt or a smaller group--I *love* to see the love spread around.
B. And really, with like 35 placed new members, we have 16 NPCs--that's really awesome odds. I'm actually surprised at the diversity we do have. We also have locals and professionals represented.
C. The list of unrepresented groups is buried in the thread. Obviously it's not appropriate for the first post. I didn't put it there, and only someone who goes searching through the thread will find the list (accompanied by my loud screams every time we get a new group!).
D. I don't get why it matters which groups are represented and which ones aren't. I mean, conceivably we could have had every GC PNM this year go AGD by some freak coincidence. Would that mean that AGD was "better" than other groups and that Pi Beta Phi was "worse"? No, all that means is that AGD is better for those PNMs.
E. The thread is meant to be celebratory, period. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a Panhellenic thinker and that I am *NOT* an inflammatory GCer. I wouldn't do anything I don't think is appropriate.
Ok back to regularly scheduled thread.
NO STALKING!!

I like breathesgelatin's idea. It's like a digest of who went where. I usually don't have the time to read all of the stories and all of the good luck wishes, so it's nice to say, "oh, so and so went there. i'm happy she found a home." or something of the sort.

I think us normal naive people tend to forget there are psychos that have no life outside of the internet.

Breathesgelatin, your thread is great! I appreciate all the trouble you've gone to to do colors and links, etc. The people I'm talking about are those who have gone to great lengths to find out what happened to certain PNMs and then put it on GC.

Okay, here's a stalking thought:
IF a girl comes on and posts "Hi, I'm new and rushing soon. I go to a school with 1 NPC sorority, 2 regional ag sororities and 2 locals and am really excited!" she probably doesn't want to tell you where she is going! If she did, she would have made a post saying "Hi, I go to UW-Platteville, it has 1 NPC sorority, etc...."
I think it's okay to ask what sororities she has at her school, but don't pressure them on giving out the name of the school. I didn't want anybody to know what school I was rushing at other than that it was a school in Wisconsin, and I got bombarded by PMs when you knew that only ONE NPC org was at my school. I didn't tell anybody because I didn't want them to know I was rushing Gamma Phi...maybe that's why some girls don't tell us!!!!!!

For real. If they wanted to update, they would. That's when the entire thing gets a little scary for me - and I'm speaking as someone who did it in one thread myself. When I realized how stalkerish it sounded, I decided to stop posting on rush threads.
I've often wondered how the PNMs feel when they look at these threads. Are they excited because there is so much support? Or are they creeped out that a group of strangers is so emotionally invested with their own recruitment process?

My own 2¢...
I watched last year's Rush Threads, and I've seen this year's. To say that there is an improvement by, oh, 400% is not even the tip of the iceberg!! Last year's was just filled with "unabashed plug for ABC" or similar statements - and they made the Panhellenic part of me ill. I haven't seen one of those yet, and I think that's definitely a change for the better.
As for the "any updates?" posts, I'm guilty of that. It's usually in a case where I've written a rec or the PNM pm'd me about something. I don't see anything wrong with ONE person saying "any updates?" only because (as we've seen from a couple of this year's PNMs), they may have been busy partying, and forgot to give us the latest. But I do think we have to let it drop from there. One post is should suffice.
I know that one PNM from last week asked not to receive any pm's or consolation after she was dropped - and I hope everyone is respecting her wishes. She is the type of woman who will tell us if things change, and I say "More power to her!"
One last comment (on this post! ): When I saw the list of which sororities hadn't gotten a GCer to pledge yet, that's when I realized that someone had gone ADPi, so I'm grateful for the list.
We all need to remember that each sorority is doing well, and has taken some awesome New Members - but most of those New Members are not posting on Greek Chat!!
With that, good luck to everyone in the remainder of the Recruitment Season!

I started reading this thread realizing that it was started in 2003. Thank you for bringing it foward. There have been some recent threads that have disintegrated into an appalling piling on by women who are old enough to know better. I had just turned 16 when I rushed and thought that I knew a lot about the world. My kids all know more than any adult (said with rolling eyes). Perhaps it is a good thing that I am blissful ignorant about rush at most universities. I don't care if the school is in Alabama or Oregon, my sorority or any other. I am rooting for the kids. Next year I hope that you will root for my daughter. But in fairness to the kids who are rushing the attacks on some of the posters are doing exactly the opposite what this forum is supposed to support: knowledge about rushing and sororities in general. Some kids are simply more vulnerable than others. Some have really great outcomes...some not. Some pnms or new members sometimes say the "wrong" or politically incorrect things. Some of the posters remind me of the movie "Mean Girls". It is so safe to be bit **** and cruel online. It takes but a moment to edit yourself.

I only bumped it so people can be on the lookout for the GCer who has a history of stalking GC PNMs who don't post rush updates.
I get what you're saying, but I think what you're talking about is something totally different from the original thread topic.
