B.P Beauty Guide

Other Walmart finds:

I find that Palmers Cocoa butter soap (an oval brown bar) used
2wice daily (once in the morning and once @ night) works well.

After washing I use a cotton applicator and swab my face with "Sea Breaze" to get rid of any deep in-bedded dirt. I use new swaps until the new 1 I'm using is clean (nothing is showing up). If you've never "Sea Breazed" your face I recommend everyone should, u'll be suprised what hidden dirt u'll find . . even after just washing ur face.

Finally I finish with the Palmers Toner and swab my ace with that. When I'm done with this routine, my face feels as soft as a baby's butt and has a nice natural (non makeup induced) glow with no bumps. Even my pores are smaller and all of the small hyperpigmintation scars that is left behind from old, long gone pimples fade away as well. I don't really wear a lot of makeup (unless I'm going out or am in the mood) so I love having my skin look great all on it's own. Only thing, you need to stay up on it. u can slack for a day or 2 . . but u may start to see the skin reversal if u slack 4 much longer

I use an appricot bead scrub once or twice a month. I still mak get the ocasional pimple or two, but at least it's not like big, obvious, long lingering, swarm that used to attack my face before this regime

My mom has benn telling me that "a lady should have a beauty routine" from my early pre-teen years . . thankfully it looks like I found 1 that works . . @ least for me and yes all of these items are @ ur local Walmart

When I got pregnant with my son (13 yrs ago) I developed these moles on my face, neck and chest. I hate them! I have been using Lavender Oil and they have slowly been going away. I was going to have them burned off but the doctor stated that they may return so i didn't bother. I am sticking with the Lavender Oil.

I need to become more consistent with products. I use Neutrogena's soap and astringent, Dove's facial lotion, and Freeman's clay masque.

Isn't there an AKA that came out with a skin care line?

My routine has been changed drastically (for the better) by my naturopathic. I gave up the western docs and went to see a naturopathic to resolve some other issues. Well, low and behold, my face got cleared up and stays cleared up along the way!

Here's what he recommended:
reduce sugar (I rarely have sugar now)
little to no dairy
no red meat
lots of veggies and fish

I have few to no pimples during the entire time that I've been following this regime, which is going 3 months or so now. I wash with whatever, even regular soap, I use no astringent/toner and sometimes am bad and don't wear a moisturizer (so i don't get the spf protection). still, no dark spot recurrence.

i now believe people when they say that one's beauty regime starts from within.

ETA: Even before I started going to him, I realized that when I drank soda, I got at least one pimple in 2 days, like clockwork. Hope that helps someone.

Be careful with the astringents (SeaBreeze, etc). If you use them too often, it will dry your skin out, which will lead to increase oil production. I used to do that, twice a week, but my skin still freaked out. It didnt get clear and STAY clear until I eased up off the soda. And I switch brands every three months or so. I like Biore and Clean and Clear products.

Real talk on the astringents Nikki1920. I use Clean & Clear astringent (the red one for oily skin) on a rare basis, it can really start to dry your face out.

My typical routine is wash with Ambi (specifically designed for women of color) Facial Bar, dab on some Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer and go about my business! At night, after I wash with Ambi I put on a few dabs of their fade cream. It works like a charm! AND...is totally inexpensive. The facial bar is $1.49 at Krogers, $1.24 at Walmart and the cream is about $4.

I've used ProActiv before...it actually caused me to have more breakouts than without. I think that's because I don't have a typical acne problem..just occasional breakouts. (Which I've discovered are directly related to what I eat! So now I watch it.)

I am not sure if this has been discussed before *sorry if it has* but has anyone tried Carol's Daughter face butter? After using astingents my face has gotten really dry in areas and I would like something to moisterize it but I don't want it to clog my pores and I like the ingedients in the face butter.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi SC,

Quick question - how do you make sure that you're getting enough calcium? I noticed that it says little to no dairy so I was just curious.

On another note, For me, I now use Arbonne skin care products and I like the results.

When the Khiel blue astringent was drying my skin, I started wetting the cotton ball a little then using it and it was fine. If you use astringent, ALWAYS use moisturizer!

Cool Purity made Simple

I've been using Philosophy's Purity face wash- it removes all of my makeup, smells fresh and clean, and leaves my skin feeling amazing... clean, but not dried out.. It is a little pricey but I highly recommend it ladies!

As far as astringents, I use witchhazel one or two times a week. It works really well, and it doesn't have all of that other stuff that Sea Breeze and similar products have.

Has anyone ever tried the Clinique line of skin care? I'm thinking about purchasing a set but not too excited about the prices. Is this line worth the money, or can I stick to good ol Wally and Target for face products??

I like the skin care line at Bath and Body Works actually. (I'm cheap, what can I say, lol) I use the clay mask that smells like licorice and the clay cleanser for normal/oily skin (C.O. Bigelow line). The mask works well, but its a bit strong for my skin, so I use it once a month.

I've heard Khiel's is good too. Never tried Clinique products though.

Hi Honeykiss,
Honestly, I am bad and don't really pay attention to the calcium. However, I think that I recall my doc saying something about certain vegetable and beans? are good for keeping up calcium. Not sure. Girl, I'm more concerned about him fixing the reason that I came to him to be honest. LOL. The facial benefit was just a side effect.

The Clinique moisturizer is the only moisturizer I could use in high school since it wasn't oily or greasy or anything like that. Just a few dabs goes a loooong way.
