I didn't go into a speech as to how bad america is, i went into a speech explaining how it's stupid for Americans to tell a foreigner how much they don't know about their country and it's society while at the same time not know that much at all themselves. If you're going into a debate about knowledge of your country, make sure you don't get caught looking stupid yourself. I started on that can of worms since a few on here acted as though I knew very little about America herself. Do you think thats wrong? I don't. And by the way, if you have foreign friends, ask some of them what their opinion of Americans are. However, afterall, they are just opinions from other individuals.

I think this thread should be deleted

AND I think this guy should be deleted as well.

The first sentence, hence the subject of his question was,

do you look back and think sometimes how stupid it was being greek?

This American bashing is WAY off subject and this guy needs to be banned.

And, being an editor, with all your typos and misspelled words etc YOU are perceived as stupid as well.

That said, go out and learn a new foreign language, be more open minded, quit always thinking everyone else in the world hates you. I am trying to have a simple conversation with you and some of you are making this into a greek hating message.
If anyone is turning the conversation in that direction, you are the one doing it.

Maybe I missed the post where someone said that you didn't know about the American culture, but I thought we were just saying that you didn't know about the U.S. GREEK culture. I'm sure since you know the greek system SOOO well you will know that there are many cultures within the culture. There are the cultures of the NPC/IFC, NPHC, Asian, Latin, Multicultural, etc. which are all TOTALLY different from each other. I know some things about the culture of other greeks besides the multicultural greeks but I definitely don't know it fully because I'm not in it. How would I be able to put down NPC and IFC greeks when I never been apart of that system??? We were upset because we thought you were talking about a system that you knew nothing about. But FINALLY you decided to tell us you joined an American fraternity (mid way through the conversation...)

Like I said, we answered your question. What else do you want us to say? Are you waiting for someone to agree with you? Most of the people on this board truly value their fraternity or sorority's purpose and that is why we are on this website. Maybe if you wanted to get a more unbiased answer to your question you should hit the greek houses on different campuses...

Side note.... Who said that I would defend the Education System of America? That would be the LAST thing I would do...

Talking to you and Zchi2 is like talking to a brick wall, you're hard headed, hence the arrogant perception you portray.

I rest my case, goodnight.

I'm not arrogant. You started a thread in which you stated that your fraternity experience consisted of drinking and trying to get girls. Then, when people question your experience with our American culture, you get offended, call "Amerikans" lazy, and claim we know little or nothing about our own country. If you want arrogant, look at yourself in the mirror.

I concur with Aabby 757. (And if she's a million years old, then I'm a million and one!)

Greek life was the great motivator to keep me at the university where I began.

I had a job interview once (1978 or so) where the interviewer said, "Oh, you were in a sorority?" and named her NPC group, to which I replied, "I *am* in a sorority." That probably was not the reason I didn't get the job <g>.

I heard a saying when I was an undergraduate. I've repeated it many times since: "College years are but a few; your <insert your GLO> associations last a lifetime."

I wish Greeks would mention their affiliations more often.

Unhappy

sveirge,

I think the problem stems from your first post which was antagonatsic to ALL GREEKS!

You just keep trying to fill in the hole with just dust and make the hole deeper.

For this aposcum or what ever called you an ass, he has been banned by severall names.

For a European, who you so say was a Greek from the South, at aint the Dix line! I find your claim very hard to beleive.!!

Yes, there is a common perception by many in other countys about Americans, (no K ) just as Americans have misconceptions about other countrys!

I have only been to 6 countries myself and could belittle many things I have found in each country but in the same token speak highly of each one!

I for one am not impressed with your post and find you to be a wishy washy individual who is trying to stir SH*T up!

I think many have tried to be more honost in posting than you have!

There are many very Sharp people who have seen through your Charade.

Be nice or be gone!

My Euro Dollar worth!

Actually the Euro is much stronger than the dollar now. Today (well still early morning in the US) the exchange rate is .85 Euro for 1 dollar so 1 euro costs 1.16 dollars. This is hard on me when I want to go out and buy all of this fantastic German clothing! Its great b/c the German women are fairly tall and slender like me so I can find jeans that are plenty long enough here Come here just for the shopping! LOL

Sorry, now back to the thread

paying for your friends...

I have to agree with DGSweetheart that I got a good deal on my 'friends for money' experience,

however, maybe a bit of topic, but why is it that joining a GLO = paying for your friends, whereas joining a soccerclub, a debatingsociety or a studygroup is considered not paying for your friends. Is it because friends are an extra benefit of joining a soccerclub. your supposed to join for the love of the game, but when you actually become friends with your teammates that is something no one expected????

I can understand that once you stop paying you fees/graduate/move away your are not allowed into the house (this is the same with my organisation) but that does not mean you can't go out for a beer, celebrate your birthday or cry on the shoulder of the friends you've made during those years?

Love
Dutchgirl
