I know they have to hear every case. But how could they hear it without making a descision?

No you don't get it. They look at every case but if the agree with the lower courts ruling they may choose not to hear the case.

I think that the US Supreme Court would have to find similarly, should the case be presented - public morality isn't supposed to be legislated with regard to expression (and thus art), to my knowledge, regardless of how offensive or sick it may seem to you and me.

I thought the US DID make a similar ruling, a few months ago

Hence the "oot and aboot" for "out and about". [/B]

CutiePie....I would have to disagree with you there!!!! I am from Atlantic Canada and do not in any way say "oot and aboot". While people from Atlantic Canada have strong English roots, no one I know pronounces out and about like that.
I lived in Toronto for about a year....and most of my friends there did speak like that (as well as saying Eh about every two seconds!)
People here in the South think that because I'm from Canada I immeditey should say oot and aboot. I don't. In fact, some friends of mine here were shocked when they found out I was Canadian. They actually said "wow...you don't have an accent!"
Personally, I would hate if Canada became the 51st state. Although Canada and the US are similar, there are many more ways in which they are different. I am proud every day to call myself Canadian and I think that if we did join the United States, some of that wonderful Canadian pride and individuality would be lost (not saying this to say that the US is bad....hey, I live in the US now...for the $$.....just that if we did join, we'd lose part of our uniqueness! )
I don't see it happening though.
When I was little, I dreamed that Quebec would separate and Atlantic Canada would join the United States.....so then I could compete in Miss America! LOL!

CP2000 and SisterPlum...
As far as the accent thing, the guy I dated in college was from a city called London, Ontario. Not exactly sure where that is in the geographical scheme of things; in the midwest I think
It really was cute, though

LOL
London is about an hour and a half west of Toronto. Not exactly Mid-Western Canada!
Now, I'm from Toronto, and I really don't think I have the 'oot and aboot' thing going. But EVERYTIME I talk to my grandparents, who are American and from Brooklyn, they always make fun of me and tell me I say ABOOT. EVERYTIME. IT makes me CRAZY.
That's okay tho. They say WUATAH .
I don't hear myself saying those words with an accent. But then again, I guess I wouldn't.
And all I can say is, just try to Annex us! It went so well the first time!

Hey! lol I didn't have a map handy and I was going solely on his assertion that he grew up liking both the Maple Leafs and the Red Wings because his town was halfway between Toronto and Detroit! That sounds like the midwest to me!

Okay, I really must explain that, yes, while the Mounties do indeed have cool uniforms, I must stress that the Mounties only wear the red tunic for special occasions.
(i.e. Remembrance Day [which would be like Veteran's Day for Americans], Canada Day [July 1] and if the Queen or other dignitaries happen to be in town)
99.9999% of the time, they dress like regular garden variety cops, with caps, etc. (not Stetsons).
This is a highway patrol officer (note the absence of red tunic as it is just a regular work day...)
