I'm all for volunteer work and such during the school year and other activities associated with the fraternity, but I don't understand what I have to prove. I went through the same process as every other FIJI and became a brother. What do I have to prove?
Honestly, I'll be insulted if they reject me, because that's not what FIJI is about.

Jackhole, it's not about proving, it's about getting to know brothers who are doing the same thing in a more relaxed atmosphere before the craziness of rush starts up. If you weren't so busy having a giant chip on your shoulder you would know that.
OK, maybe you're right. FIJI should totally revise their policies and allow any brother to reaffiliate anywhere. So let's say they do that. Fine. There is NOTHING they can write down that says the members of your new chapter have to like you, hang out with you outside required events, elect you to office, or live with you. I can't imagine anything more fun than spending the remainder of your college career as "the guy nationals forced on us."
Leave your rotten attitude at the door, contact some of the brothers over the summer via facebook and see if anything is happening where you could make some face to face connections, and hopefully things will work out fine. But they won't work out fine if you keep bellowing "I'm a BROTHER and you should HAVE to make me part of your chapter." I'm hoping this is just you venting and getting your worries out so you can act a little less like a snot-nosed brat when dealing with actual humans.

I know this is probably a typo but I would love it if AEPhi really did have something called an "owl chapter."

Thanks for pointing that out then.
The only OWL chapters of AEPhi I can think of would be at either Temple or FAU. There is a chapter at Temple, but none at FAU (I could say why, but it's kinda a long story, I really want there to be one though)

Ha. I think it is supposed to be "bids, letters, and ritual." The OP probably does not know the difference.

I'm going to respond to this sh*tshow only by saying that I may actually know what school this kid is transferring to. Another forum I post on had someone who's transferring from a 'small school' to a state school and asked about transferring membership. I gave him the same response about contacting the chapter and voting him in and he said it was' shallow and lame' and that greek life 'isn't what it's cut out to be after all.' He also capitalized greek life to Greek Life just like this kid did... coincidence? Potentially...but the attitude is horrendous

I nearly peed my pants laughing when I saw this thread...if it's the same kid (3 letter then 3 number username on the other forum too), he was a royal doucher to everyone trying to help him there too with academic related questions

I am a Fiji (Phi Gam) advisor, and with this kid's attitude, I can't imagine any chapter of any worth wanting him to be able to affiliate. I often tell guys who transfer that they are like "rushees" again; they need to put their best foot forward and impress the new chapter by making a good impression. It's always important to feel wanted, but it's also important to realize that there is no free ride--life is about how we act and how those actions are perceived and then how we are treated based on those perceptions.
As for the "owl chapter" thing, our mascot is and always has been the snowy white owl; it's on our crest. But in all the years I have been a Fiji (over 40), and all the years I have advised in one capacity or another (over 25), I have not heard of the title of "owl chapter" as a top chapter. Now it could be a regional or state title that someone has come up with to deliniate a high-functioning group, but it's news to me.
I might have--at some point--excused this young man's attitude as being a bandage for being fearful of transferring and not being accepted, but his comments about community service and general demeanor make me wonder why he was pledged in the first place. Also, I have to wonder if he is, indeed, an initiated member of Phi Gamma Delta. (NOTE: When I first looked at his site, I PM'ed him to offer assistance from an advisor's experience; he has declined to contact me as of yet.)

IUHoosiergirl, I haven't heard the term "royal doucher" in awhile and your post made me chuckle! And I checked the site I assumed you were referring to and saw the posts you referenced. I think your assumption is spot on and you have identified the correct school.
Since I think we know the school, I can tell the OP that if he is serious about re-affiliating with his chapter, he needs to put in serious work this summer. The chapter is serious about academics and philanthropy, men from this chapter hold most of the steering committee and committee chairs for the campus wide dance marathon. The chapter has a high GPA. The OP probably knows several chapter members already if he is from the large city in the center of the state. OP: contact the chapter leadership now this summer. They need to know you're interested, they hand out most of their in-coming freshman bids over the summer and these men will move into the house immediately. Also, take a summer class or two if you can to raise your GPA. They are your brothers, but you have to make the first move. Best wishes on your transfer!

Almost? Just curious, which fraternity or sorority don't allow the chapter a vote? For Alpha Phi Omega, I've seen everything from chapters that flat don't allow transferring in to chapters that make sure the potential transfer goes through the chapter history part of the pledge program to those that don't have much more than having the potential transfer introduce themselves at Business meetings...

LOL, I'm sure there is no such term affiliated w/ Fiji. I have no doubt jazing simply had a T9 typo and was trying to say "old chapter." (If you ever got a text where someone said foot where they should have said don't, it's the same principle.)

Oh, good thought, 33girl! I had not factored in the "typo" possibility. It is really an odd coincidence, though, with our Fiji owl mascot and the "owl" chapter.

Yeah, what a typo ...
33girl, you're in AEPhi? The post you responded to mentioned AEPhi.

No, that was her typo of AEPi.
