It's not stringing the PNM along.

I can not imagine a school making this policy, nor have I ever heard of it in practice.

Sorry- but again, just to be clear, I thought that was the case somewhere. I didn't know for sure. Just brought it up. But now I realize via a few different posts that I had misunderstood earlier and gotten it confused with something else. So, thank you! Got it!

It shouldn't be. Legacy policies are set by the organization, not the school or CPC.
Unless you're saying that as a standing rule, individual chapters have that policy. In which case, can't they just re-do their policy, since they wrote it themselves?
ETA: Nevermind, I missed a page.

I am one of those that who say if the pnm got a bid, then don't revoke it(if it would even be revokable). That would just be too cruel. If it could be caught before the bid was issued, that would be different.
Another facet of recruitment that I have encountered is when one member or a small group of members in a chapter really wants a certain pnm to get a bid from them, so they "politic" for her among their sisters, and the sisters all agree to vote, score, speak for, whatever, for that pnm, and then they don't do it. The group that wanted her thinks that everyone will support their wish and noone tells them any differently. When said pnm does not run to them on bid day, they start questioning. Of course, noone admits that they did not vote, score, whatever as they had been asked, so they assume that the advisors or the greek life office screwed up, which is most often not the case.
And don't even get us started on the savvy pnm who lets every chapter think they are the one that she wants, and come bid day, when her name is not on their bid list, the spurned chapter(s) are bewildered and think that the advisors or panhellenic screwed up.

FSUZeta - I totally agree. There is always the one rush crush that girls campaign for that is dying to join XYZ that doesn't show up for Bid Day. The computer must have made a mixtake! No ladies, she listed them first.

Oh, so true.
A *Major Sorority* at Mississippi State on Bid Day: "There must be some mistake. We know she wanted us, she must have put us first."
Me: "No, I'm looking at her card over here and she put them first."
Them: "No way, we want to see it."
Me:" No way." (and so on and so on)
They're back in an hour. "Here's another one. She wanted us, we know. We want to see her card."
--and they eventually voiced their suspicions about SIX girls! I finally brought in a third party to look at the cards and confirm that the girls had indeed put other groups first! But did it end there? Nooo, one girl in that group kept saying sadly to me all year, "I would put my pin on Kathy _______ right now if I could."
