Congratulations! As a PSU alum, I know you're in for a lot of fun!

Wondering if you'd care to explain more about the following:
Quote:
I decided to email recruitment chairs once it got closer to the semester about COB events happening before formal recruitment. If they didn't work out, I would possibly consider giving formal recruitment a try.
Was this just COB, or something more formalized? Did anyone else get a bid at this time? Also, what happens to you during recruitment? I assume you just sit it out, and join the rest of the Fall new member class on Bid Night?

These were COB events for sophomores and up before formal starts. I don't think it's "formalized" but several sororities did it around the same time.

I didn't even think of when they started pledging, drrrr. I guess I just assumed they had 2 classes.

This was just informal events, but a lot of chapters happened to be doing it at the same time frame. Last spring was "formalized"

And idk how to explain it really, other than that we are involved in some select things right now, , but we don't start our new member classes until the girls from formal get their bids. I think. We haven't done anything like that yet at least, but we did sign our bid acceptances. There probably won't be much for us during the next two weeks because recruitment here is crazy long (which I'm sure you know, LionTamer). I heard there are 800 girls signed up.
We're supposed to be at the bid night run at the HUB lawn and I'm pretty excited for it.

So you guys aren't actually going to be at the rush parties on the sister side? Then again, that would be a good way to get you to quit before you even start. LOL

No, because we're not initiated we will not be at any recruitment events until bid day.

True story, I was initiated like a week before formal recruitment. We typically had 2 weeks of recruitment prep. The first week, we were excused from because we were still NMs. I remember being initiated that weekend, then joining the chapter that next week at recruitment practice (including learning all the MS stuff we weren't allowed to learn before). I remember it being quite overwhelming to prep for FR in a week, but I did it. Good thing I was pretty much obsessed with Sigma at that point or else I wouldn't have made it. lol.

YAAAY nittanygirl! Y'all...I was tardy for the party, seriously...

But, WELCOME TO SIGMA! <3 It was the best decision I've ever made, and one that gives me so much everyday.
