Ah yes - the CBO. I'll trust their numbers as soon as they stay consistent - you have to go all the way back to early 2010 to find the office swapping numbers, missing marks by hundreds of millions due to mistakes, and generally conceding that the math for health care was too complex for them to figure in any reasonable fashion.

I have no problems with the fine folks in the CBO - I don't doubt their earnestness, but I do doubt their ability. If they had the talent to forecast for Goldman, they'd be working for Goldman. So I'll stand by my point and appeal to the law of unintended consequences.
So your argument is "it might cost more" when the only change in enforcement is the length of the sentencing?

But see, I'm not serious. Because "get a job" and "get a life" are incredibly pathetic, along with "just trolling to piss you off." Sad.

My "arguement" isn't actually about saving money, that's a fringe benefit of removing a racist and reactionary law. Also thanks for showing your ignorance of taxes along with your ignorance about drug use.

If only you'd come to this conclusion before you'd posted your ignorance in the first place.

No - my argument, as stated earlier: if a main reason for reducing sentencing is to save money, that savings will likely not be realized to the extent that you would expect by simply subtracting that many prisoners from the existing system.

For me, the racial and socioeconomic disparity is enough reason to change the laws on its own - but it still doesn't hurt to take a skeptical eye to any claims, right?

For example, this:

I'm not quite convinced that the fringe benefits are realizable. Seems like a fine point of discussion.

Fair enough, I think that removing mandatory minimums is more likely to save money than not, either way it's the RIGHT thing to do. And that matters more than the ancillary claims.

I agree - yet the ancillary claims are made . . . it's the fight against talking-points logic and lack of critical eye that we're waging here.

I'm not ignorant at all, I'm just fucking with you. The funny thing is you are actually taking it serious when I've posted otherwise in this thread and other threads. You really need to take my posts with a grain of salt, but your love of controversy and pushing your nerd views on others while always trying to be "right" is blinding you of that.

You love when people troll, hell you even dedicated a thread trying to "out" them. While I might screw around on here it's good in nature, you try to take the self-righteous angle as if your shit doesn't stink. You have no right calling others sad or pathetic.

Aren't most things run through the CBO though, whatever your opinions on them,

No, you've repeatedly shown yourself to be pretty ignorant about a variety of topics.

No, I'm not really, you're just an asshole.

Blinding me of the fact that you're an asshole? No, not really. If you choose to say ignorant things, I'm still going to call you out on them because you might infect others.

There's fun trolls and annoying ones, there's assholes and crazies. It takes all sorts. Doesn't make it a good thing to do.

There really was nothing "in good nature" about what you said.

I have every right. And trolling for kicks is pathetic. So is dehumanizing people. Your defense of your trolling is also... wait for it... pathetic.

You love it, I can tell by your tone.

And if anything I posted "infected" anyone or someone actually took it to heart they had problems to begin with.

But they might be saved, there's not anything wrong with pointing out that you're being a judgy classist asshat. Sometimes people actually accept new information and re-evaluate their opinions.

Keep on digging that hole though.
