I don't see how anyone could ever be an underdog against OU in a bowl game.

That was a great game for WVU. If I didn't know about them before the 2006 Sugar Bow, I sure learned about them after they surprised my Dawgs. Congrats to the Mountaineers!
BTW, I found this "beating a dead horse" but on point blog about the 2008 BCS games: http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/200...ns-are-robbed/.

Not really. I posted that this morning and I was surprised that no one had already posted about WVU's win.

Kevin, Kevin...
There was even a lawsuit (filed by our evil friends in Columbus) over the use of "Ohio" which was settled out of court.
"Ohio" is in Athens.
"Ohio State" is in Columbus.
West Virginia, which is South and East of both was amazing against that other "OU" last night!
Amazing.
A great game.

A great game? I beg to differ.
As far as OU goes, I could care less about Ohio University. When you're talking about football and OU, Ohio University is next to irrelevant.

Fun article in the Detroit Free Press today...
DREW SHARP: Which is worse: SEC football or Ohio State football?
January 4, 2008
BY DREW SHARP
FREE PRESS COLUMNIST
It's a tough choice for the true Michigan man or woman.
Do they don sacrilegious robes and support regional nemesis Ohio State in the BCS title game Monday night at the Louisiana Superdome? Or do they oppose The Vested One in a battle against the Big Ten's national enemy -- the Southeastern Conference?
http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...OL08/801040321
Also from the article:
The Big Ten is 14-12 against the Southeastern Conference in bowls since the advent of the Bowl Championship Series in 1998.

Easy answer.
The Big 10 followers stick together. I have numerous co-workers who graduated from "the school up north". W we root for U of M during bowl games, and they root for The Nuts at the same time.
I pulled for Perdue, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Penn State. I wouldn't have thought otherwise. We respect each other's programs and love their coaches. Anyone who has seen my numerous posts on Joe Pa and Mr. Carr will attest to that. Also, Ron Zook, was born about 10 miles away from my home town.
For what it's worth, Les Miles is from Elyria, Ohio (about 10 miles from my current home) and Urban Meyer is from Ashtabula (about 1 hour from me). They are all products of Ohio Football.
Ohio, the cradle of coaches!

I think it was a great game. If Oklahoma had played almost anyone but WVU they would likely have won. West Virginia was really surprising -- and dominant. Remember, I'm not an Oklahoma detractor since our son graduated from there.
As for Ohio, football isn't what I was talking about. Ohio State tried to copyright (or maybe service mark) the word "Ohio" a few years ago. As I said, the suit was settled out of court with Ohio University retaining the use of the word.

Gotta disagree with ya here man. Oklahoma looked awful. I could talk about everything they did wrong, but it's much easier to just say they looked like they hadn't practiced in a month.

Agreed. It didn't help that they were missing three offensive starters, but I don't think that's the reason.
Something in "Big Game Bob's" bowl game preparation has to change. Oklahoma hasn't won a bowl game since the '04 Holiday Bowl.

Seriously. We're a great team, but man, there is much room for improvement in that area.
