IMO, Scott will go this week. I think he had a good fan base until the domestic abuse thing came out and that will turn people off. I was a fan until I heard about it, not I'm kind of "ehhhh". He has not performed in the past 2 weeks.
Not a Constantine fan, but I liked what he did this week. I really liked that Nikko changed up the WSS song and made it "new". I may be in the minority, but I do not like Carrie. She has a wonderful voice, but something about her turns me off. Vonzell did well, but I hate that song.
This was the most BORING week ever. Out of all the musical songs available, I was really surprised that they picked such boring ones! Bo was really the only one who stepped out of the box a little on song choice.

Scott - I like the song but not his rendition; it was all over the place. With the bad press he's received this week, he'll be in the bottom three and could go.
Constantine - I know most of you hate him, but it was a great theme for him and he picked a great song...sang the heck out of it too. (Also, when he was talking to Ryan he made mention of the fact that they didn't have access to any newer musicals)
Carrie - I thought this was a great performance for her. Thumbs up!
Anthony - It was an okay version of the song; I think this kid just bugs me.
Vonzell - She has totally stepped up her game. She once again gets my "gold star" for the week.
Nikko - You made it your own, which is good, but the arrangement was sucky, which is bad.
Bo - Not your theme, buddy, sorry. He did a decent job with what he had to work with, though.
Anwar - Good vocals, but I'm still bored. Do something, Anwar!!!
Nadia - MUTE...ugh, go home!
Bottom Three Prediction: Scott, Nadia, Anthony
Getting Booted Predicition: Scott

Wow... someone please put Paula back in her cage.
I recorded AI and got to fast forward thru all the BS. Good times.
Scott: I didn't actually watch his performance. I just heard it. It didn't sound good. And like many others, I will agree that the DA scandal will shoot his fan base down and he'll go because of that. If he would have given a stellar performance, maybe he would have escaped. But it wasn't enough.
Constantine: I would have died if he would have done something from Rent... but they probably barred him from doing so, since he toured with a company and was Mark or something. I agree that when he isn't doing the rocker thing, he's not bad... but DUDE FREAKS ME OUT with those stalker eyes and isht. It's not cool.
Carrie: Of all the songs you could have picked that were bubble gum poppy, you picked the most boring out of the catalog. And I don't even remember that song being in King and I.
Clay Potter 2.0: I wondered if Anthony had really watched Sound of Music ever. "Climb Every Mountain" is sung by and meant for a elderly soprano woman... not a 19 year old male. I don't care HOW poppy you make it... it just doesn't work... EVER. I love that musical and Potter just committed sacrilege. BOOOOOO! It compares to a 2nd soprano trying to sing "Old Man River," which is meant for a baratone... bottom line: never sing songs that weren't meant for your voice.
Vonzell: I liked it. Go girl!
Nikko: I didn't think it sounded as horrible as Simon made it to sound. Though I was wondering how he was going to sing a song meant for a duet by himself. But the guy is R&B and only R&B. I'd hate to see him on a country night... if there is one.
Bo: Simon hun, it's BROADWAY night. Of course he's not going to sound like a rocker that he is. He picked a song at random because he'd never sang in musicals before... though, that excuse is poor because I'm sure there is some downtime to watch the movie rendition. It was okay. I thought he forgot the words in places.
Anwar: Better, much better. He's been redeemed. So hopefully he'll be safer this week.
Nadia: I don't remember this song at all. But she sounds pretty... just stop with all the crazy scary faces. I liked J-Hud's more than I like her's.
Bottom:
Clay Potter 2.0
Scott
Nadia (just because she's been in it the last 2 weeks and I can't think of anyone else)
Scott should go home.

Do you think Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar are considered newer? I was thinking Bo could have really done well with a song from either of those shows. But I think he did a pretty good job with the Pippin.
I missed Scott, Carrie, Vonzell, and Consta-perv (thank goodness!). Sounds like I didn't miss much. It was definitely a bad theme (and I love musical theatre). I also think they must not get any help picking songs - there are so many better ones out there!

OHHHHH Hair....that would have been great....almost better that Jesus Christ Superstar...but once I heard the theme, that is what I thought Bo was doing.
Isn't Pippin from the 70s? If so....Jesus Christ Superstar or Hair shouldn't have been excluded.
Did you know that Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) played in Jesus Christ Superstar? I heard the soundtrack...that boy can sing and that is what made me envision Bo

It's a Fosse... so it's pretty recent. So I'm not sure why it was included.

I would've loved for someone with a big voice (Vonzell maybe) to do 'Memory' from Cats. Maybe even 'Phantom of the Opera' from Phantom of the Opera but I doubt any of the girls have the range for that song.

Pippin is vintage Fosse from the early 1970s - I think the movie was made in the late 70s. "Granny" from the Beverly Hillbillies was in the Broadway production (I think - I don't think it was the movie). Still, it doesn't fit in with the Rogers & Hammerstein/Rodgers & Hart/ 60's musical theme that they had going.
The only ones that didn't make me cringe last night were Anwar, Nadia, and Vonzell. For the rest of them, all I could think was how they were just ruining the songs. And there were lots of botched lyrics, especially Clay 2.5 and Bo.
And I was hoping that Simon would make some comment to Scott about whether "to fight the unbeatable foe" included his girlfriend.

I forgot to mention Harry Potter goofing up the lyrics at the very first of the song. I have been in that musical and I for sure know the words - too bad he didn't, but it was pretty noticible.

I was really surprised no one attempted "Somewhere Over The Rainbow."

The background singers this season are really drowning the idols out at points during the songs.

I think some have the range, I don't think the show had the rights. I think Nadia could do some great stuff from Chicago too, but again, I'd bet they didn't have rights to do those.
ETA: It doesn't seem like they had any Andrew Lloyd Weber stuff.

But remember during the audition process that girl, Briana I believe, sang the song Phantom of the Opera. The songs that they do during the auditions I believe have to be "allowed" by AI. Although maybe the selection is "lowered" once the live broadcast starts and the voting by the public begins because I don't think the audience could deal with anymore renditions of "A Whole New World"

I think what was wrong with this show is that they used too much creative license in arranging these songs. Carrie's song: the tempo was really WEIRD. I don't remember that song much, but the band and Carrie just seemed really off. Clay Potter made a classic into a pop song and Nikko made a duet into an R&B ballad. I'm used to these songs the way they were in the originals. Whatever happened to picking a theme that the idols had to adhere to, not the theme had to adhere to the idols.
