I'm going on the premise that you are legit and have just had a drink or 2 before posting so...

If you honestly would tell the girls what the "best" and "worst" sororities are, you need to resign as a Rho Gamma NOW. They are supposed to be impartial, even if you think you're "helping" someone.

Your best bet at this point is to come down with a weeklong illness (something gross and contagious like pinkeye would be good) that prevents you from having any role in rush, period.

what a disaster!!

i told my exec today and it did not go well. it could be worse i guess. before i could even tell her i was going to resign myself (thank you 33 and everyone else for helping me make a hard choice) she started yelling and made it into this HUGE deal that i was selected.

i might as well have been the wicked witch from the east!!

so she yelled at me to quit being so selfish which doesnt even have anything to do with this and resign.

i told her i wanted to and that i tried to tell her but she didnt believe me.

now shes going to tell the entire exec and i will have to go to standards!! for coming clean!!

i dont tell them half the stuff that goes on and thank goodness because they would probably hang me in public!!!

im just waiting for this to blow over but thanks to everyone for the helpful advice i think i just needed some encouragement!!

This post reads like something out of a book I had in kindergarten where half of the text was pictures. This is why 10 is too many smilies to use in one post.

Pull it together.

If they threaten you with standards call your adviser and talk to her. Be clear that you would like to be a Ro Ghamma or whatever they are calling it now. Threatening you with standards is stupid.

Well, considering her subsequent posts, it may have nothing to do w/ her looks - more like they don't want her to be saying stupid shit to the rushees because even though she's disaffiliated, when the rushees say "oh and by the way, RushLeader08 told me XYZ is the best sorority" it will still come back on the chapter.

At first, I interpreted that post as "I would threaten my chapter's VP Recruitment that I would tell PNMs that our chapter sucks and that they should join a 'better' chapter" as a way of making your chapter not want to to talk to PNMs, just like the "I'll tell them I do coke if you make me recruit!". I thought, wow, no Rho Gamma with a half a brain cell would EVER tell a PNM in her group what she thinks are the best chapters.

This post cleared up your opinion and I really can't believe a non-troll would say that. Seriously, if a PNM likes the "worst" chapter on campus, and they like her, then why shouldn't she join? As a Rho Gamma, it is your responsibility to DISCOURAGE this type of tent talk, not facilitate it.

i already said i was going to resign my spot.

i know what i should do but i dont think i could do it real life so i wont be a rho gamma anymore. i will just be stuck in group one talking to the cheerleaders about like how much they like llooovvvveeee like johnny depp!!!

No matter what you think of recruitment, the PNMs are a lot more stressed and nervous about it than you are. If you don't want to talk to them about superficial topics, it's your job to initiate a more deep conversation, and they will follow your lead.

Seriously. Recruitment doesn't have to be superficial if you don't want it to be. It's your job to steer the conversation in directions to determine if she is a good fit for your chapter.

Then make sure you go see Sweeny Todd before recruitment starts. If you'd like to make the conversation less superficial, get the DVD of the Broadway show (it has Doogie in it!) and compare the two. And if you want to just scare them away, then talk about how much you loved the blood and gore.
