Life, good site. If you are going to try to buy that front end replacement, you might want to look into its ability to accept a winch or not. Winch's dont sound like much, but after I got hung across a steep creekbank 2 weeks ago with only 3 wheels on the ground and my front bumper dug in, I decided that its time to put one on my truck. Would have saved me the embarassment of having to have my little brothers truck pull me out. 9 years in that truck and I have never hung it, till now.

I dont know if you know anything about welding or not, but if you dont go out and buy a copy of Haynes Welding Basics, a good cutting torch kit and a good welder, and teach yourself how to weld. Not only will you be able to make most of your truck accessories yourself, you also get to add more tools to your collection and have a 1 up on your friends that cant weld, and thats the name of the game. I dont know if your accessories are black or chrome. I hope you are going with black. Our trucks are the same color and I think chrome is for sissies. Maroon (or Cranberry) is just better looking with black.

The headache racks on that site are goodlooking too, but they need to run the rails down the length of the bed, instead of stopping right below the toolbox.

We need a trucking forum.

True dat, true dat. I am just getting into the wonderful word of truck accessories. Its definately all about the black. I HATE chrome. What is this 1957? Can I get some white walls too? Ugh! Yep, its all black. They only bolt them on. I want them welded (GrilleGuard) onto the frame, but the guy at Ranchhand was telling me it would structually weaken the guard attachment to the truck frame. Didnt quite sound right to me. he two drawbacks to the grilleguard/replacments are that One, it makes an impact (fronal) harder on your body, bacause it eliminates the engine compartment crumple zones, therefore transfering the schock of an impact to the passange cab. Two it apparently Adds about 10-15 mph needed to trigger your air-bags. So they would go off at an impact of 43-45 instead of 30 mph in a head on colisiion. With all the science, I still cant help but feel safer in a truck with the GG. Something about scraping the Civics of fthe front of my truck (heheh). Primarily, tho, I want it for the protection it affords me from the deer in the area. I have had PLEANTY o friends bag deer with the vehicles, and the GG made all the differnce. Since my truck sits high enough the deer would either fly around the side or under the truck at impact.

<note to bambi fans. I like animals, but in south Texas, deer are like squirrels. The're everywhere. I would never intentionally hurt one, unless I am in a deer blind, and it is November (legal hunting season). But they are so plentiful here that its not a matter of if you will hit one, but when. Sorry kids. Jsut the way the world works>

Dont plan on the winch. Never go offroading anymore. Used to in HS and runed 2 trannies that way. Am gonna get a draw tite hitch, so I can tow a trailer. Dont have a trialer, but never know when you might need one (moving, etc). I figure if I can handle a goose neck trailer like the one I used in HS on the ranch, I can handle a tow behind on Kimber.

Sounds like a good idea about the welding. Might look into it. I am also looking into adding fender flares. The small ones. When I got Kimber she was very factory. Didnt even have an alarm. I am not putting one on, because after a year they suck. Batterys go dead, and I dont want to be the one in the apartment complex that everyone hates because I was outta town on business and the alarm shorted and went off all weekend.

Check this site out : www.bushwacker.com

Some cool flares on it.

I have the Bushwackers now, but I dont know what they cost. My g/f bought them and nerf bars for me for valentines day, but I got her to take the nerf bars back after I measured and drew them on CAD, then I just made my own, and saved her a little money.

The grille gaurd I made is for the same reason you want yours. Deer are like flies here in Ky, but I destroyed the hood of my truck one day when I was trying to get this crazy old cow to go in the pen so I could pull her calf and she suddenly stopped, and I messed up the ol truck, didnt hurt her or the calf though.

I have a silver 2001 Corolla Sport. They're basically the same as the regular Corolla except for the interior, which is all black with all red controls and red leather stitching on the steering wheel. The interior is the reason why I went for it.. I love it!

I wanted to clarify something KA, my truck is most certainly NOT Maroon. I never would have purchased a Maroon vehicle, lest someone think it to be sign of support for Texas A&M University. Maroon being their signature color. I am a tried and true Longhorn, a fan of the University of Texas. and dont even own any maroon clothes. I pride myself on that.

My truck is a shade of a purpleish red, some may call it Maroon, but I prefer the term "Cranberry." And my blood is orange, burnt orange. Go HORNS!

No hard feelings KABM. I'll let you buy me a jack and coke to make up for the slight.

The "Teke Taxi" (I often DD) is a 2000 Hyundai Elantra that's maroon colored. Not flashy, but big enough to pile 3 other guys in there and still have room for buckets if things get queasy.

I have a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2. It's one of the few cars that Ford makes that doesn't brake down every month. Probably because it is modeled after the Mazda Mx6 which is a Japanese car.
