Best First Dates
I started thinking about the first date that my now-husband took me on-- we were in college in SC, and our first date was an all-night road trip to New Orleans. It was amazing. Not just because of the spontenaity of it, or because it was to a city to which I had never been, but because we had 9+ hours in the car to do nothing but talk to each other and get to know each other. And our visit to N.O. was Fabulous! So, what are some of your great first (or any number) date stories?

I haven't really had one. That's really sad.

My boyfriend came to get me from my parents' house where I was staying for the weekend to take me to dinner, and then we went to his apartment because everything was closed except the movie theater, which we didn't want to go to. We sat and talked for hours and hours.

I went out with a guy I didn't really know at all (our friends had hooked us up) to a baseball game. We tailgated with his friends, who I got along with immediately, and had a blast through most of the game til it started pouring down raining, and we were goofing off in the stadium, soaking wet, running back to our cars after he grabbed my hand, and we had the most randomly awesome kiss in the rain that was coming down so hard I could barely see him...then went to a nearby bar to warm up and dry off and had a great conversation all night.
Although, that was actually our last date too, because turned out to be super shady, lol, but it was a great first and last!

Dinner at what was, at that point in time, our favorite sushi place where we were both so nervous we could hardly eat and then the Promenade in downtown Brooklyn followed by drivng around and parking in a parking lot and just talking all night.

ok...
So my first date, though I am no longer with him, was by far the best. I was 15, he was 17. We went for coffee then ice skating. Then, we went on a hike by the lake to watch the sun set. Then, he said we had to get going because we had dinner reservations. I was confused and mad b/c I was so not prepared (dressed) for dinner reservations! Then, we ended up at his parents house (c'mon we were still in high school lol) where he had made me dinner and dessert, which we ate at a table decorated with candles by the pool in the back yard, which was decorated with pretty lights. hmmmm....

My best first date was a five-day road trip. Holy hell that was awesome.

My best first date was with my husband.
Before he asked me out we had been talking about the fireworks (a Vancouver event that happens every summer). I was telling him how I always wanted to see them from the water, and how I love being on boats.
He told me that he was going out the next night with his dad and brother on their boat. I was kind of disappointed he didn't ask me along, but it was guys night I suppose, and I didn't know his dad or brother, in fact I didn't really know my husband all that well.
A couple of days later he calls me to set up our first date for the upcoming Saturday. He told me we were going out on his Dad's boat to watch the fireworks. Then and there I knew he was a keeper. I was supper excited.

I just realized that all 3 of my "first dates" have been to see a movie (twice at the theater, once at my place). How unoriginal! I went on something like a go-see with a guy (I refuse to call it a date) where we roadtripped to a theme park. If he hadn't been such a punk, it would've been the perfect date. There was nothing to do but talk the entire way there, back, and waiting in line for rides. That's the best kind.
My favorite date has got to be one to Dave & Buster's. I had a blast! We played several games where we were a team and that helped. We even kissed in the parking lot at the end...I blushed the entire way home. It was our last date because he got really clingy after that (in a pathetic sort of way) but it was awesome, I'll give him that!

My best friend and I always went for pizza at one particular restaurant by her house and chatted with the owner’s son who worked behind the counter. One day, he wanted to take me out for some coffee. He asked if I liked cheesecake. I said, “Of course. I love cheesecake!”
Excited, he picked me up at my house in his Mustang (I’m a sucker for muscle cars) and we drove off. We had great conversation in the car and he smelled so nice. We kept driving and I finally realized that we were headed into the city.
Can you believe he drove all the way to Little Italy to get cheesecake, cannoli, and cappuccino with me? We sat inside a café chatting and having pastries. And although I didn’t end up happily-ever-after with this boy, it was still a sweet first date!

My best date (that never happened):
I'm a huge Sabres fan, and my boyfriend was (is) a huge Penguins fan. We met at Pitt and had been dating for about 6 months when he started dropping hints about hockey. Well, I found out (later) that he had bought Pens/Sabres tickets so we could watch a game together. I couldn't go to the first game, so he traded in to get tickets to the next game. I couldn't make it to that - so he gave up because there were no more Pens/Sabres games in Pittsburgh that season.
He didn't tell me any of this for months after because he was worried that I would be even more upset about life if I knew what we missed, especially because the second game was during the time when my family was going through some really tough times as far as my mother's illness so there was no way I was even going to appreciate going that day anyway.
He's still a sweetie for going through the trouble to harassing one of his friends with season tickets into letting him buy, then give back, not one but two sets of tickets for Pens games.

I've had some pretty good ones. The best one I had though was at a cider mill, because I wasn't expecting that. I dunno, it was just so different from the previous dates I had. What made it so much fun was that you would pick your own apples from the apple trees, and then bring them back to the cider mill where they would show you how to make apple cider. Great 1st actual date. I had a blast!

The most extravagant first date I've been on was a weekend trip to Hawaii to see and meet U2. It was so much fun. The boy and I are still dating (2 years later).
