i have bad news...

i only got invited back to 3 houses and none of the 3 are my very favorite. i'm so disappointed that i am absolutely lost of words. i'm shocked. i guess my connection with the houses that i fell for did not feel the same way. the down side of rush i suppose.

i lost all hope to continue through this process but my rho chi emphasize that i should give the 3 houses that i was invited back a try. i am a optimistic at heart, but i wore my heart on my sleeve and look where it got me.

i decided to continue rush and see the 3 houses that wanted me back: CARNATION, DAISY, and IRIS.

i have no comments about any of them because i continue to have the same mind set about CARNATION AND IRIS. however, i liked DAISY the first day but i'm just not sure anymore.

my mind is all bundled up and i'm just so lost.

i told myself when i signed up for this process that i would not let it get to me. i shall be strong and not shed a tear for i know that if it was meant to be, it would've happened or it will.

i have not yet make my decisions on attending pref night. if i do, when i recieve my little paper listing what houses asked me back; if DAISY is not on there, i refuse to go on with the process.

i know the girls in CARNATION really like me, but i just can't see myself being a sister.

i would like to say thank you to all those that encouraged me and read my story.

i will keep you posted if i decide to attend pref.

oh no..

I am soo sorry that you didn't get the invites you wanted back. If you feel so strongly about not going to the other two houses. I would say you shouldnt attend but I would suggest giving DAISY another chance and attending their pref night. Also, talk about this situation to your recruitment counselor. You never know you might surprise yourself and see something more with this house. Just keep your positive attitude, and later if you still don't feel comfortable, then consider otherwise. Keep us posted and GOOD LUCK!

to add to the confusion, i would go slightly against lilchiolady's advice, and say to attend all three prefs. often at prefs., the choices become clearer to the pnm.

you do not have to put all three sororities on your bid card(no matter what your rho chi might believe)-you do not even have to sign your bid card, should you continue to feel that the sororities are not the right fit for you. if you go thru prefs. you will at least have seen the entire formal recruitment process and might be less likely to always wonder "what if?".

supporting your decision no matter what.

totally agree!!! I too would attend all three pref parties because it might just change your mind on what you think about the chapter. And also remember this that you are not going to like every member of every chapter but go on where do you feel comfortable...well I too would am supporting your decision no matter what as well

Sorry things took a turn, but I'd echo what others have said...attend any and all prefs that you're invited to, and put what you know is best for you on your bid card or don't sign one at all...I truly believe that prefs can decide things for you...but once again, you know what is best for you and what will make you happy! My thoughts are with you!

I hope you'll attend all three prefs. Don't get hung up on the only place where you can see yourself. Clearly these women have seen something in the sorority to want to be members and they have seen something special in you. Can you see yourself being friends with these women and working on projects together that benefit the sorority, community, university and each other? Look for a few where you'd be happy. Only list the chapters on your bid card that you would accept a bid from. This may mean all 3, or only 1. Or it may mean you drop after prefs. Is it better to not be in a sorority at all? That is up to you. There are women who get their lower-ranked choices and who, after a few weeks or months can't imagine life any differently. Others get their top choice and are miserable. Or vice-versa. I think your sorority experience is what you make of it. Do remember that you've had extremely limited interaction with the sororities-- a few minutes of random conversation and entertainment at each house. Recruitment is a rush of activity-- give these ladies all a fair shake and see how you feel. The rejection of the chapters you liked may be lingering and affecting your feelings, which is normal. As hard as it is, don't take it personally. Cuts happen for a variety of reasons: grades, year in school, too many PNMs and not enough time. You can still be friends with the people you have met and no one can take away the experiences you have had this week. Good luck!

The motto here on GC seems to be "it only takes one." If there is/are still chapter(s) that you would at least give a chance to on your schedule, then you should stick it out. It might be discouraging to have fewer choices, but in the end you can only join one sorority. Good luck with the rest of recruitment and keep your chin up.

I'm going to repeat what was said before me, but definately go to all of the prefs. After that you are under no obligation to list houses you're not interested in, or sign a bid card at all. But Pref can be a MAJOR influence. It can confirm that you don't fit in, or change your mind and show you that you do.

i'm not sure it will help but please see this thread:

http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...ad.php?t=80889

I posted a rush thread for my good friend a week or so ago. She found herself in almost your exact situation. She was dropped from her 2 top faves and was close to quitting until her Rho Chi insisted that she keep going. She is now the happiest new member I've ever seen. If you happen to see this post before you make your decision, please read this thread. It may really help you.

Yes, well i noticed that wasn't what i wanted to post, and looking back it was late when i wrote that.hehe Thinking about it more going to all three is a good idea. You don't loose anything from going, but gain more information and a closure to what you really want..I do still feel strongly you should attend DAISY, that is something worth checking out again. You are never forced to choose a house if you attend pref, it is totally up to you. Also, everything happens for a reason and you will realize that reason in time.
P.S. Ok,enough late night posts for me.I confuse myself

OK HERE IS MY ADVISE

Go to whatever pref parties to which you are invited. BUT to that end I am no longer "anti-sip." (MY OPINION>>>>>>) ONLY WRITE DOWN THE sororities in which you are willing to accept a bid.

So, if you are invited back to DAISY and Carnation then you enjoy Carnations pref and could see your self accepting a bid then rank accordingly. . .

if on the other hand you attend Daisy and Carnation's pref and you still feel the same way . . . 1st - tell Daisy how much you like them and could see yourself there . . . .2nd DO not write down carnation if you would be devisated and would not "run."

AGAIN THE ABOVE IS JUST MY OPINION - I AM SURE whatever you do will be right for you at this time.

HEY and don't forget you can still have fun even if every thing isn't quite going perfect. It is going the way it is suppose to go and it is up to you what you do with the cards you are dealt.

Great Attitude

I am so excited that you decided to go to pref. Preference night can really change your opinions about the houses. I remember I pref'd a girl who, on bid day, told me that she had us ranked fourth before prefs and only ended up attending our pref because she was dropped by one of her top three. After prefs, she ranked us first. From fourth to first. . . that is a huge change of opinion. Good luck. I hope that you fall in love with one of the houses you pref.
