RainMan,
In regards to raising the standards, the orgs can do that.

HOWEVER, colleges and universities are already doing so. Many mandates for admission to these institutions (including HBCUs) are becoming more challenging. Therefore, if the HSers don't get it together, we' ll probably see a dramatic decrease of our kids going to 4-year institutions.

Then, if that happens, all orgs will be scurrying trying to get the Talented Tenth. That's not to say that they (the "TT") aren't triflin'.

I say this because I believe prophytes have a more powerful influence on the actions of neos than anyone else. When I was a neo I was my own person but when it came to Delta matters I did as my prophytes did because in my eyes they set the example of what was and was not acceptable in my chapter. So if you have a neo running around making disrespectful remarks about other greeks and wearing a DST t-shirt in pink and green or an AKA t-shirt in crimson and cream you best believe if you look around her prophyte is nearby cheering her on!
I agree, to a point. I know of at least 3 collegiate chapters where the prophytes and NEOs are as different as night and day. The NEOs cross and just lose their minds!

Especially when they make up the majority of the chapter.

***Marquise stands and applauds***

You are so right. There are certain things that I would never allow my neos to do even after they crossed. As neos we all wanted to be creative and take it up a notch. But I taught my neos to never disrespect anyone’s colors, national/regional song, or call/hand sign. To be honest most of the drama stems from the disconnection between "old heads" and "new schoolers". If the bruh/ sorors from the past don't lend a hand to the newborns, they will make a mess of what we hold dear. This extends to anyone who knows better. To be honest, if we did everything like our prophytes did, Greek life would seem dated, but if we do away with traditional ideals Greek life will appear as it does now, cheap!

This is food for a new thread...
