Yeah, I know that KKG has a group like this... And like you said, people will go out and take pins, or buy them off of family members, so that they can get the big bucks... Because they know that these groups will out-bid anyone.
Lora, let us know when C.O. contacts you, and what they said.

I know that many sororities have had a problem with this but say that there is little they can do. With funds in many sororities in desperate need elsewhere, they are not able to reimburse for the badges that are "rescued". And, like others have pointed out, bidding on the badges just encourages sellers to drive the prices up and sell more badges. However, there are Greeks that have gotten really good deals on badges. They buy them for a number of reasons and when they can get them cheaper than buying them through their organization, it is hard to ask them not to bid.

Badge being sold...
Sorry to intrude on your forum, but I received this email and thought you all would might be interested. I try to bid on AGD badges as they come available, basicly because I hate that they are out there! This person saw me bidding and contacted me. This is the email that they sent me:

Hello!
I see that you are bidding on a sorority pin. I dont know if you are looking for a particular one, but I have two different phi sigma sigma pins. To view a picture of one of them, go to www.burrpatt.com/phisigmasigma then click on badges and pins. you will see most of the phi sigma sigma pins that they offer. one of the ones that i am offering is the plain badge ($81.50) attached to the plain double letter guard ($36.50). i also have a
pyramid pin which is not like the ones here, but it is a triangular pin that gold and sapphire plated with the greek motto diokete hupsala engraved into it. this pin retails for $80. Together, these pins are worth almost $200, but I am willing to sell them both for $125 or the sphinxhead for $85 alone and the pyramid for $55 alone. If you are interested or know anyone who might be, please let me know! Thanks so much!
-Karen :-)
I hate to see badges bartered around like this, and wanted to let you know. ~Kristin

Is she talking about the new member pin--in which case Retails for $80.....I really hate the fact that someone is trying to profit off of this.
I wish too that CO could or would do something about it!!

I so just wish that people would keep our badges off of e-bay. Mine just means way too much to me to go and put it on an online garage sale!!! Last year our advisor saw one for sale and bought it. The person selling it wasn't very intelligent though and put their phone number on the auction site. She called when we were all there and we sang one of our song on her voicemail. It was pretty funny.

I stumbled across this thread, and just wanted to let you know for future reference that this woman emailing you is against ebay rules. You're not allowed to email someone who's bidding or has bid on an item and try to sell them one yourself- it's a form of auction interference. Also, never complete a sale like this off ebay- you loose all the protection that ebay and paypal affords you. If you ever were to decide to make a deal with one of these people, have them put it in an auction with a buy it now. Some people try to avoid this because it costs the seller fees, but it's really for the bidders best interest to get it on ebay.
Just my 2 cents

Memorabilia on Ebay
HI All,
I just wanted to give everyone the heads up so they don't bid against me on this. On ebay someone has put up memorabilia from the 1930's and 1940's. It's programs from conventions, dance cards, etc. I am bidding on them so that I can then donate them to CO for the Phi Sigma Sigma history project. There may have been a Phi Sig bidding against me but I wasn't sure so I raised my bid then emailed the person to let them know what I was doing it for. I haven't heard from them since. If you know any avid ebayers that may bid on that stuff just let them know that they will be bidding against someone who is going to donate it to CO. I can't go any higher then what i've already bid so hopefully no one else bids against me.
For those who were at LTS, wasn't it awesome seeing all the memorabilia they had there. An old Sphinx magazine, Jeannette Lipka Fursts pin, etc. I really hope they put a musuem in the new headquarters so that Phi Sigs can see all this stuff.

Well I've been outbid but the persons name has Phi Sig in it so hopefully they are Phi Sigs and going to donate it to CO.
It looked like it was from a couple of chapters but there was information about Los angeles and st louis missouri gatherings.

I just wanted to tell everyone how excited I am... I finally got my lavalier in the mail today!!! Yeah!!!! So now I'm proudly showing everyone. My mom's like, "is that the newest thing you got from ebay???" Even she likes it... And she's not too keen on greek stuff.
Anyways, just thought I should share my joy!
