I stand corrected. Yes there is a Meeting Planner employed by EO. The position that was eliminated was the Convention/Conference Planning Chair because it was unnecessary. My bad. I should know better than posting something without looking it up first.

The position at Convention that was eliminated was the international officer position of Convention/Conference Planning - Executive Office hs a staff member that is officially ADPi's Meeting Planner - the reason they did away with the IO position was because there's now a staff person dedicated to doing the things the volunteer position had previously done. Another reason we now have a meeting planner is that there are 6 District Leadership Conferences to plan for as well as the summer event and other committee and task force meetings that take place throughout the year.

I attended my first convention this past summer in Arizona and had an amazing time! I paid my own way out there because I thought it was a very important expierience to have as a collegian and I am so glad I got to make it. I just hope I can afford it again by the time Boston rolls around and I'm an alum!!!

I probably met you at the airport since I was one of the greeters. I hope you had a wonderful time at convention. It was a blast. I loved meeting all the sisters. (And listening to some complain about the AZ heat and others thanking god that their hair wasn't all frizzy. LOL)
BTW: Welcome to the boards!!!!!!!

Hopefully I'lll save enough money to go. I've never even been on a plane! I'm moving in with a sister in June, I'm so excited to be with sisters..Our chapter closed down so we don't see each other as often.

Just read in our newsletter (for the alum assoc.) that there will be an ADPi auction at convention. I'm not sure if it is a silent auction or what. But that sounds kind of exciting, although the bad thing is that how many collegians (if they even wanted to bid) would be able to compete with the alums, who would most likely have more money to put down for bidding.

From what I understand from those that are gathering the items for the auction is that there will be items that the collegians will be more likely to want and then there will be other items that alumnae may want...
And sometimes I think there are just as many broke alumnae as collegians

Since I am on the Alumnae Director team planning the "Lion's Share Challenge Silent Auction" - I can tell you that there will be items available for purchase and any sister in attendance should be able to have enough $$ to purchase them - even those of us poor alumnae!
I'll give you a sneak peek of how things are being planned...
There will be "grab bags" available for "x" amount of $$ (not decided yet) and those bags will have different ADPi trinkets, memoribilia, etc. in them.
There will be some "bigger" items available for auction - and it will be a silent auction.
I can tell you that a 3-volume set of Loyally and a badge mold (the ADPi badge, not ADPhi or Adelphean) will be part of the auction portion.
All of our proceeds are going to the ADPi Foundation.

Updated the first post about convention with the list.
I should know today or not. I'm going to tell my principal that if he doesn't know about the conference that I cannot attend because of convention. I really like my principal but we've been talking about attending this conference as a school improvement team for over a month now and it still hasn't been done (booked).
Is anyone else noticing that us west coasters pretty much have to leave on Wednesday? I checked out airfare and everything I found getting into Boston on Thursday would place you getting in around the time you need to be at the hotel getting ready for opening banquet. Anyone know how that works with the price? I think I might have to call the sorority travel agent today and see how she would 'book' my flight so that I get in on time on Thursday (if I can go)? I'm honestly tempted to tell my principal I can't attend the conference anymore. I mean it's just retarded that after a month we don't know yet.

I'm actually going in on Tuesday - attending the "Pre-Convention worshop" on Wednesday morning, because the opening banquet is Wednesday night, right?
My flight is the absolute earliest I could arrive in Boston on any day, and I get in at 5:20 pm - so I'm waiting to hear whether or not I can use the shuttle to the hotel (as they list the shuttle stopping running there at 5 pm).

I would have the same problem. I actually called EO today and asked how that would work with the hotel (should I get to go) because I would have to leave on Tuesday otherwise I wouldn't make it on time on Wednesday. The earliest I could get in on Wednesday would be 5:05pm. Me thinks this is going to be a BIG issue with the west coasters! I was basically told that I would have to pay $150 more for the night and then if I "got" a roomate that I would be refunded $75. I told her that I would want a roomate and wouldn't mind that person coming in on Wednesday.

I'm mailing my registration in tomorrow
About the shuttle, Bri - I emailed EO, and was told that there's a "cheaper" way to get to the hotel than using a taxi - it'll drop off near the hotel, and the hotel will send a shuttle to that location. I guess I'll get more info about that when my registration's confirmed.
So excited that you're *pretty* sure you'll be there, lyrica!
