He just got a supporting actor one for Jerry McGuire, but I don't understand how he got one for that when so many other African Americans have given better performances, but I guess that is something the "Academy" knows about.

I feel you. But, he did a great job with that role.

I want to know when the Academy plans to stop overlooking Regina King.

Timing is everyting

Remember the year before Cuba got his oscar, The NAACP was all over Hollywood for lack of diversity.

Coincidence?

Don't let me start.

I do too. I don't know if anyone else noticed but Oprah also held up the "Black Power" symbol during Jamie's win. I don't know exactly during which part but they showed her in the audience and she held up the fist. Not real "panther-ish" or anything but she did it and to those of us who recognize it, it was obvious. I am feeling real proud to be BLACK right about now...not that I usually don't but it's a good time....for now...

She certainly deserved one for her performance in Ray.
Hell, they could have given her a supporting actress for Jerry Maguire for that matter. Cuba wasn't any better than her.

You can add Angela Bassett and Lawrence Fishburne to the list for What's Love Got to Do With It...
Plus, don't forget Don Cheadle for Devil in a Blue Dress, cause he played the hell out of Mouse.

LMBO @ not real "panther-ish." Yeah, somehow I don't remember John Carlos and Tommie Smith sporting diamond rings underneath their Black Power gloved salutes in Mexico City.
