I love names with meaning, especially familial meaning.
I thought about giving a girl the same initials as my mother JM.
I was thinking:
Jaden Marie
Jaylyn Marie
I also really love my nieces name,
Christyana Marie
Too bad my sister thought of it first!

I'm not too good with making up names, but I think that Brooklyn is a cute girl name. I have only told that name to two of my friends and one liked it and one didn't. I would like to hear someone's opinion.

I like Brooklyn...a fellow unionite (member of my school) name is Brooklyn...she is sweet as can be...so it works..Its funny because as I was going through a list of names w/ my best friend...she liked the ones I didn't care for that much and vice versa I liked the ones that she didn't care for so she said she would just call my children baby girl or some other form of a nickname...
by the way, My cousin had a little boy this past Saturday...his name is Jayden Christopher Lewis ! I'm proud of my little cousin ! He is the cutest little thing in the whole world !

Well, I already have a little boy who I chose to give my mothers' maiden name: Campbell.
People get real confused, they always think it's his last name.

I guess I am fairly conservaticve when it comes to names. Like another poster, I am not too big on names that have La's and SHas tacked on to the end or beginning. I also am not so big on names that are far from phonetically correct as they can get (ie- it is not a foreign name but a made up name that you could not pronounce if you tried!)
I love the name Jalen but my boyfriend's son (and maybe one day my step son- MAYVE) is named Jalen.
Names I like are
Girls:
Kelsy
Ryan
Danielle
Peyton
Morgan
Sisiley
and others...
I am not as sure of moys names that I like though.
I would like to incorporate eiher m grandmothers name (Lillian) my mothers name (Mae ELizabeth) or my favorite aunt's name (Betty Ann) in somehow.
My father and brother have my grandmother on that sides last name as their first name so they are both named Walker. (and yes, they hear Walker, Texas Ranger jokes, as well as being called Walter)

Here are a few that I have chosen for other people since I don't forsee any bambinos in my near future...
God-daughter: Makayla Arnitra
Nephew: KaDarrius DaQuan
Niece: Kira Lynnette (mom's name is Nette and grandmom's name is Lynn)
But I like the names:
girl-----Taylor, Jasmine, Janiece, and JaVon
boy------Christopher, Kaylen, Jordon and Brandon
Whatever I decide...I know that one of my children will have my maiden name as his/her middle name.

Well, I'm already a mother of two. My daughter's name is Courtland Elise and my son's name is Antonius Matrum. Now don't ask me about my son's middle name. He's named after his father so he's a Jr. Hence we call him A.J. Now according to my mother-in-law, my husband's name (first and middle) are Italian (Now ain't THAT a kick in the head? ) and HIS god-mother (a Caucasian woman) named him. But I guess it all worked out.
I firmly believe that we often ATTEMPT to come up with names for our children years and years before we actually HAVE them---and that's alright. But for all GCers who don't have children, this is ONE thing that MAY make you change your mind: The child's LAST name. Believe me, names haveto FIT TOGETHER and often times, the name that you chose 5 or 10 years ago may not actually fit whatever your last name may be (that is IF you're married). For example MOHAMMAD FLEMMING (now does that sound right?) I had NO intentions of naming my daughter Courtland. But after I got married, I realized that the name that I chose some years back did not fit my husband's last name. I actually found a first name for my daughter a month before I gave birth to her. All I did was open the name book, close my eyes, and proceeded to put my finger on a name. Wherever my finger landed, that's what I was to name my daughter. Now I know that I was taking a serious risk and I do believe that God intervened. But it worked. My daughter's god-mother gave her the name "Elise" hours AFTER she was born.
Just something to think about.

I wonder if parents think about how their children will be affected by the names they are giving them.

For my future children (hopefully), here are some of the names I had in mind
~Girls~
Jordan Renee
Courtney Leigh
Ryan Ashley
Morgan
Kennedy
Demerier (pronounced Deh-mar-e-yay)
-Boys-
Demerier (pronounced Deh-mar-e-yay)
Shannon
I think that unisex names are very cute, and as you can see, that's all on my list right now. I need to "branch" out though, because it's true that your child's name ultimately affects them in life.
Have a blessed day!
