Interesting.... interesting....

Last drinking song that I remember chanting/singing was just before the holiday break... course it was at the Faculty Club with mostly Classics and English history profs, so the song was a little advanced - To Anacreon in Heaven - the drinking song that the Star Spangled Banner was taken from... unfortunatley this song is much longer - and harder to do drunk

To Anacreon in Heaven
To Anacreon in Heav'n,
Where he sat in full glee,
A few Sons of Harmony
Sent a petition
That he their Inspirer
And Patron would be;
When this answer arrived
From the Jolly Old Grecian:
"Voice, Fiddle, and Flute,
No longer be mute,
I'll lend you my name
And inspire you to boot,

Chorus:

And besides I'll instruct you,
Like me, to intwine
The Myrtle of Venus
With Bacchus's Vine."

II.

The news through Olympus
Immediately flew;
When Old Thunder pretended
To give himself airs.
"If these Mortals are suffered
Their scheme to pursue,
The devil a Goddess,
Will stay above stairs.
Hark, already they cry,
In transports of joy,
'Away to the Sons
Of Anacreon we'll fly,

Chorus:

And there with good fellows,
We'll learn to intwine
The Myrtle of Venus
With Bacchus' Vine.

III.

"The Yellow-Haired God
And his nine fusty Maids
From Helicon's banks
Will incontinent flee,
Idalia will boast
But of tenantless shades,
And the bi-forked hill
A mere desert will be.
My Thunder no fear on't,
Shall soon do its errand,
And dam'me I'll swing
The Ringleaders I warrant.

Chorus:

I'll trim the young dogs,
For thus daring to twine
The Myrtle of Venus
With Bacchus's Vine."

IV.

Apollo rose up,
And said, "Pry'thee ne'er quarrel,
Good King of the Gods,
With My Vot'ries below:
Your Thunder is useless"--
Then showing his laurel,
Cry'd "Sic evitabile
Fulmen, you know!
Then over each head,
My laurels I'll spread,
So my sons from your Crackers
No mischief shall dread,

Chorus:

While, snug in their clubroom,
They jovially twine
The Myrtle of Venus
With Bacchus's Vine."

V.

Next Momus got up
With his risible Phiz
And swore with Apollo
He'd cheerfully join --
"The full tide of Harmony
Still shall be his,
But the Song, and the Catch,
And the Laugh shall be mine.
Then, Jove, be not jealous
Of these honest fellows."
Cry'd Jove, "We relent,
Since the truth you now tell us:

Chorus:

And swear by Old Styx,
That they long shall intwine
The Myrtle of Venus
With Bacchus's Vine."

VI.

Ye Sons of Anacreon,
Then join hand in hand;
Preserve Unanimity,
Friendship, and Love!
'Tis yours to support
What's so happily plann'd;
You've the sanction of Gods,
And the Fiat of Jove.
While thus we agree,
Our toast let it be:
"May our Club flourish Happy,
United, and Free!

Chorus:

And long may the Sons
Of Anacreon intwine
The Myrtle of Venus
With Bacchus's Vine."

The (in)famous drinking song "Here's to brother ______" will be familiar to those who are practitioners of the fine art of 'hashing'. The song's tune is Ach, du lieber Augustin!.

Do Jimmy Buffet songs count? (yes, it is a formal song of my GLO).

One of the fraternities here has a toast they do, I don't remember it exactly, but here is what I can remember

"Here's to honor
to getting honor
to staying honor
and if you can't come with her
come honor!"

(requires pronunciation)

Here's to Love
Here's to Honor
and here's to getting on her
and here's to staying on her
and if you can't come in her
come on her

Oh, We're all good brothers, each one the other's friend
and we'll be good brothers until this world shall end.
So while we're together lets give a rousing cheer,
for Lambda - Chi - Alpha, the bond we hold so dear.

• another verse to "We're All Good Brothers"

Put your arm around your brother,
stand together man to man,
as we grow older, we're brothers in a band
that binds us together until the day we die
we're faithful forever to dear old Lambda Chi.

Now I have to say, that just took me back twenty years to the basement of the Lambda Chi at Eastern Michigan (where my first husband was a member!)

That one and the TKE fight song are engrained in me (first college boyfriend was a TKE)

Ok, now this isn't a drinking "chant" per se, but a toast, which we've used numerous times over the years, with water, diet pepsi, or wine even...

Here's to the men that we love,
And here's to the men that love us,
But the men that we love aren't the men who love us,
So to hell with the men, here's to US!

My favorite drinking song...

The Rainbow Connection

Written by Paul Williams and used by Kermit the Frog, of The Muppets, Jim Henson Productions
Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that
and someone believed it,
and look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing?
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.

All of us under its spell,
we know that it's probably magic....

Have you been half asleep
and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.
La, la la, La, la la la, La Laa, la la, La, La la laaaaaaa

TKE...

Here's a TKE toast song... I provided a link that you can listen to... It's sung by THE LETTERMEN, who are all Tekes and have sung the songs of TKE on record...

This is followed by informal songs used...

We actually posted really bad and vulgar songs on the TKE board some time back - it's a shared understanding... Nationals knows it's in good fun. That's it...
________________

A TOAST TO TKE

Oh pass the Loving cup all around
And pass no brother's key
We all drink from the same canteen
in dear ole T-K-E
Oh you and I will never grow old
While this fair cup we see.

Here's health
Here's wealth
Here's fellowship
To good Ole T-K-E

Here's health
Here's wealth
Here's fellowship
To good Ole T-K-E

Here's one used by my chapter ...

"OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Here's to Frater Chris, Frater Chris, Frater Chris, Here's to Frter Chris who's with us tonight - he's happy, he's jolly, he's horny by golly, here's to Frater Chris _____________" (we say Frater instead of brother)...

Fight songs:

"OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!! We're Tau Kappa Epsilon Raiders of the Night, a bunch of rowdy bastards, that rather F that fight, so F 'em F 'em F'em, who the F are we? We're Tau Kappa Epsilon the best fraternity...
TKE once, TKE Twice, Holy jumpin Jeebus Ch***, Gosh dang son of a b**** rah rah F!!!"

" - Rappa Tappa Tau Kappa
- Who the Hell are we?
- Zimmy Zam Gosh Dang
- THE MEN OF TKE
- Tekes Raise HELL
- Hell yeah!
- Tekes Raise HELL
- Hell yeah
- Sound off
- F YOU!
- Sound off
- F YOU!
"

I doubt there are any national's that crawl this stupid-ass site, looking for the smallest thing, so they can jump down their members throats - afterall, most of the people posting here are alumni, what can they do anyway?

PS, they're drinking song/chants, not real life hazing stories....get off your soap box.

PSS, if some nationals actually surf this site to find dirt, then maybe they need to step back and realize why they suck: they spend their resources doing stupid shit, rather than putting it towards leadership acadamies, conventions, conclaves, scholarships...etc.

Unfortunately I don't think any of them post, so I can't give examples. They just lurk.
