we have lamda theta alpha and lamda theta phi..and they are(no offense to anyone affiliated but im voicing my opinion) some of the most ignorant and cocky people i have ever met in my entire life. they dont talk to anyone but their brothers and sisters. they dont participate in greek week or rush but they get mad when the school doesnt really recognize them as an impact on the greek community. me being latina, i would love to interact with them but they just dont like me.

actually, SLB is affiliated with NALFO, like most of the larger LGLOs.

The reason that many colleges and universities lump LGLOs into NPHC is that there are usually no latino/a or multicultural councils set up and it's easier to put them in an already established council that's run somewhat close to how they're run. A lot of schools (mine included), however, are realizing that the members of D9 are historically linked and are setting up multicultural greek councils

and for the original question...

At the University of Texas at Arlington, we have

Fraternities
Omega Delta Phi
Sigma Lambda Beta
Lambda Theta Phi (recently kicked off)
Delta Alpha Omega (local)

Sororities
Kappa Delta Chi
Lambda Theta Alpha
Sigma Lambda Gamma
Theta Chi Omega (local)

They are also affiliated with the NIC, as TheEpitome1920 stated.

because their national organization has decided to become members of both councils. i'm sure there are benefits of being a member of both nationally. there are several that have done this, 2 NPHC fraternities and i think 2 LGLOs.

on a local level they probably operate under one or the other council, if both exist on their campus.

We have both those organizations on my campus as well BUT I have met & talked to many of the ladies of LTA. I had a high school friend that became a sister of LTA. She loved her time there but she finished school. Once she was gone, these ladies that were always super friendly didn't speak to me anymore. Then, I was accused of being a race traitor for joining an NPC sorority. I was told that it was girls like me that hold back the Latino movement. I was like "HUH?" I later received numerous e-mails telling me to drop my affiliation & jin their group. I could then prove that I wasn't a race traitor.
Anyway, I think the organization is a great one for those who are interested but I it's the people in the organization that gives the rest of them a bad name.

I'm quite familiar with the practices of university's regardling LGLOs since I helped found the MGC at my university and was president. However, local NPHCs that allow LGLOs under their umbrella are violating national rules.

Yup, Kappa Alpha Psi and Iota Phi Theta are also members of NIC and NPHC.

they said the same thing to me. like 2 people that i went to highschool with dont talk to me bc im in a npc sorority. like i didnt know that i was pushing back the latino movement by doing my own thing. hehe like seriously the whole point that they told u to drop affiliation and prove that u arent a race traitor is so assanine if u ask me. i cant stand that and thats one of the reasons why i didnt join the lamdas. i hate the fact that i walk into the dining hall and get stared at bc im puerto rican and in phi sig sig. i got called a bitch once for it. and ure rite its some of the people in the org that just give them a very very bad name

At my school, La Salle University, We only have Chi Upsilon Sigma. They were on my campus years ago but died out and just came back this year. It's hard because no one knows that much about them and though they were invited to particiapte in greek week they didnt come to any event. But i guess they offer something that people may not be able to find in the other organizations even though they are really diverse.

wow, that's totally opposite with the lambda theta phi's on our campus...

i'm really close with them and consider them like big brothers (not greek wise, but family wise)! and my chapter sisters and their brothers hang out all the time...

weird how two different chapters of two organizations can have opposite social standings!

(girl, you know i love you, even if you're bringing down the latino movement! haha... we wouldn't be sisters if you didn't!)

Very true, but sometimes, very necessary

We had a whole discussion about that here at GW, leading up to the birth of the MGC
