LOL. if you only knew what you were missing. i have a couple of christian rap cds that are really good. it gives you a whole new outlook on rap music. even if you didnt pay attention to the God parts, you would be really impressed with the lyrics and skills...i mean 'skillz'

ooh, i forgot to add raggae to that list of music types

Wow, never thought I'd see someone posting about Skillet. I've been to a lot of their smaller concerts through the years. Their newest CD, Collide, is extremely good in my opinion.

I really like a lot of all types of Christian music. Everything from Skillet, Kutless, and Switchfoot to Bebo Norman and Caedmon's Call.

Ah, good stuff.

Jason

Does anyone else like Bethany Dillion besides me? Granted, its not rock, but I love her!

Rachael Lampa's Blur CD is also very nice (more pop/r&b/rap remixes of her songs).

Kind of on the same page as KR with the "o" face...

Some of these "I love you so much Jesus" songs really sound like songs about making love to me. There's a religious station in Milwaukee that's between the country station and the Top 40 station I alternate between, and sometimes one of the songs on the Xn station sounds like Boys II Men "I'll make love you to you" or "I Melt" by Rascal Flatts - it's a little creepy.

Really??? Who? What Where?

Normally I would agree with James on this subject. Never listen to Christian ANYTHING and kinda feel a little strange when I do listen to it... like I should be in church or something. Not in my car jamming to it.

But if they have Christian Trance music... sign me up!

BTW... did not know Switchfoot was considered Christian rock.

there is a christian dj by the name of scott blackwell that does house/dance/funk music. people do not think it is possible with christian music, but it is. there are other artists, but my head is killing me, so i cannot think.

When Switchfoot came out in 1997, there were known as a Christian Alternative band. not really rock and roll. it has a little pop edge to it, just more guitar driven. alot of people do not realize that Switchfoot is a Christian band or the fact that, "The Beautiful Letdown" is their fourth album (i think).

I am just CTFU .. .

I am visualizing dancing to a song like "Back that ass up" in a really suggestive way but hearing Christian Lyrics . . . hmm I hope they don't mention the manger scene . . . hearing about sheep in a song to that tune would just do me in.

"Back that sheep up . . ."

baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Yeah like all the dirty songs..."Mmmmm Jesus you lift me up....mmmmm jesus that's right...MMMMM!"

It's like Jesus porno music. I like to keep my church music traditional, but then, I belong to a traditional faith.

I wholeheartedly agree!

In chapel, we used to have to sing about intimately knowing God, wanting to go deeper and deeper. The little teenage boys just loved that song.

This could be the part where I make a dirty joke about finding God in the face of others, but I won't.

this song is by Newsboys. it has a very cool dance beat to it.

----this song is for your adduncan, cause it is written by our very own Steve Taylor!!

Poster child for the Christian single
Dumped on more than a birdhouse shingle
Tired of the same old crowd, she starts to
Mingle where she don't belong
All God's bachelors hanging in a bunch
Wolves in Wool-lite beat 'em to the punch
Score another knockout, barely bought her lunch
What went wrong?

Let's talk about real life
Truth and consequences
And coming to our senses
And lies we'd best unlearn

Let's talk about real love
Truth and propaganda
Are you really gonna stand for
Love that waits its turn?

I am the voice of the male agenda
Sensitive, strong or shy, I tend to
Act anyway that would possibly send you
Somewhere we can be alone

You're so sure I'm a would be Christian
Suckered by the "Untamed Heart" condition
Love that feminine intuition
Seen that movie, too

Let's talk about real life...

Ok, ok, ok - you've got me
Figured out, I'm a sham, I
Never actually studied for the
Priesthood. I've had lots of
Destructive relationsps, and
I know I don't deserve
Someone like you anyway. It's
Just, there's this strange
Purity about you...almost a
Radiance. Maybe it comes from
Your religious beliefs, I don't
Know. I guess what I'm trying
To say is, you're unlike any
Woman I've ever met...is it
Getting hot in here? Can I help
You with that jacket?

No, no, I know you've got to
Go...Oh! No, it's nothing. I've
Just got this really bad kink in
My neck...you don't suppose
You could just massage it a
Little, could you?

3 1/3 year later bump on this thread...

My boys are addicted to Christian music - everything from Thousand Foot Krutch (TFK), Casting Crowns, Kutless, BarlowGirl (not the boys, but the wife here), Stellar Kart, Toby Mac, KJ52, Newsboys, LifeHouse, and on...and on...

Main reason? No only because of church (big influence) but also because we have a ministry at our church, and we perform this type of music (in addition to "traditional/blended/contemporary" hymns) in American Sign Language...which seems to be a growing phenomenon in churches and schools - and it's fun, and best of all - you can't be out of tune!
