Umm there were IBM compatibles I think right from when IBM was selling PCs to families.

I had a Vic 20 to start with. Strange little system. Before the Commodore there were a couple small little computer companies too.

Tandy was the brand that Radioshack bought I believe.

If there weren't, they followed soon thereafter. A lot of people in the mid-80s still felt that if they were going to get an IBM-compatible computer, they should just buy from IBM. Some of the clones were better, and some were cheaper, and some were more geared toward families' computing needs rather than businesses' needs (IBM is not called International Business Machines for nothing), but you really had to know what was out there.

Cable TV didn't have 100+ channels
HBO, Cinemax and Showtime had one channel each

SNL was alot more funny back in the 70s and early 80s
ABC after school specials
Cable wasnt even a thought or even offered in your area
walking to school with your friends without parents
staying out late with your friends in the neighborhood and not have to worry about yoru safety
Pe che (spelling) folders and writing band name and who you love all over them
designer clothes and the fact you HAd to have them
"little house" was a cool show with laura ingalls
having a barbie dream house made you cool
the best music was from back then--journey, reo, forienger,van halen, eagles, lynard sknyard, etc....
banna clips, hair bows, and cool sunglasses with your Members own jacket, Vans slip on and a concert t shirt

and a lot more ........i had a fantastic youth......growing up in the 70s and early 80s was a blast. it was even better with good friends toshare it with!

Sesame Street had not been invented.

Vietnam was called French Indochina and nobody had heard of it.

Saturday Night Live was funny (strange echo in here).

Professional basketball players went to college first.

Mini-skirts hadn't been invented yet (ugh, the dark ages!)

Mini-skirts weren't allowed in school.

Women had "hours" in college dorms.

Damn, I could go on for a long time. Thankfully for all of you, I won't.
