Well, I watched his speech tonight, and the make-up people did a very nice job of covering up the scrapes.

(Hoping that a little levity might get this back on track)

Hey Delt! Nice try, but futile, I'm afraid.

Actually, munchkin, I live in Florida too. My sig says Dallas, but I recently re-located back to my home state. So you see, I AM in a high cost state.

I can't manage my financial affairs? What? I'd love to see what you say to folks without jobs. You feel compassion for those folks, right?

I can manage my affairs. I have a good job, thank you very much. I said my husband was out of work, not me. Are you stereotyping here? If what I pay for insurance is all you got, you ain't got nothing. Surprise, surprise.

Your replies scatter all over the place, ladies. You're the perfect Democrat voters. Full of blind uninformed hatred. And about as sharp as a bag of hair.

And if I'm trite because I'm old, I wonder what you think of Hillary? Cause she's older than I am.

What wonderful representatives you are for your groups.
Fraternally yours!

This thread turned snotty fast.

Anchor Alum, liberal from NYC isn't redundant. I am currently on the East Side surrounded by conservative old money Republicans. If you look at a voting map, this area would be all red for Republican while many (if not most) areas in NYC are blue for Democrat. The Republicans to whom I have spoken are baffled by George W. Bush. They see this country going in a direction that they hadn't expected when they voted for him in 2000. Now they don't know what to do when election time rolls around.

ETA: I will also add that Munchkin is "a wonderful representative of her group," having had the pleasure of her company on several occasions.

1. I'm not a Democrat. I am an independent voter and have been since I registered. I have been known to vote for Republicans if they will be the best person for the job. To quote you, "are you stereotyping here?"
2. If I'm not a good representative of my sorority, you're far worse. After all, your affiliation is in your SN. You're the one who went on the Kerry board to poke fun at my location. Mature? No. Panhellenic? Helll no.
3. You never addressed the fact that you told me not to make personal attacks, but you continued to do so. Hypocrisy at its finest, dearheart.
4. You're not trite because you're old, you're trite 'cause you just ARE. I have a 90 year old professor who's mind is sharper than yours. No one dislikes you because you're middle-aged, or because you're conservative. It's just 'cause you're a....

ETA: P-n-C, I wouldn't worry about her too much. She wouldn't know an Upper East Side preppy if she tripped over one, clad in topsiders and a pink polo.

1. Good for you. So you tell me you're NOT voting for Kerry? That's what I thought...
2. I'm quite certain that although my affiliation is in my sig, I never called anyone shit for brains in this thread. And I'm quite certain you did. So I have no reason not to be considered a good rep for my sorority. Got it?
3. Hypocrite? Do you know what the word means? A hypocrite is someone who flies around in his private jet while assailing the President for high gas prices. A hypocrite is someone who actually voted for the $87 million before he voted against it. A hypocrite is someone who makes remarks about the President falling off his bike when he fell off of his three weeks ago. Is the 25 watt bulb flickering on yet?
4. People cannot be trite; however, what they say CAN be trite.

Call me names by posting the cute pics. No problem. At least it's classier than shit for brains.

This isn't about Kerry, this is about YOU. You told me to lay off of the personal attacks, yet you continued them. You called me a poor representative of my group, yet you haven't had that DG sparkle during this little spat. You tell me to lay off the stereotyping, yet you assume that I'm voting for Kerry. I won't decide anything until late October (when my absentee ballot is sent to my county's supervisor of elections).

It was YOU who said..."And if I'm trite because I'm old, I wonder what you think of Hillary? Cause she's older than I am."

I'm glad you thought the pics were cute.

I actually have to go to this wonderful thing called work...where I do challenging yet glamorous things and people pay me. Time for bed. Nighty-night.

Peaches, I appreciate your input. I do know that there are some Republican voters in the city, but you and I know that when the five boroughs are accounted for in full, the Democrats have a big edge.

As far as any puzzlement regarding Bush, who knows how a leader will react when less than a year into his term, America's worst single day happens? I can't recall a President during my lifetime who made the right decisions all the time. Nor when I think back into history.

I respect divergent views, truly, but when someone makes such rude statements about hoping the President gets hurt, I really really do NOT like it. I see it as hateful and divisive.
Please understand that if your ballot goes another way in November, I certainly respect your choice. Sincerely.

P.S. I am pretty sure I'd recognize an East Side preppy. I used to be a preppy back when preppy wasn't cool.

You mean you can't make your own hours? I guess you just need my job, where I call my own shots. But you gotta pay for your own insurance...

And I used trite the way you did, which I admit was a sarcastic thing to do to put it back in your face.

Please - DG sparkle? Gosh, I could swear sparks were flying when I was reading your posts. Calling me $hit for brains gets me sparkling every time.

And with that language and the trailer trash picture of the toddler flicking me off, I'd say that is a poor representation of something.
But I'll let you decide that.

I'm out of here as well.

It's called a joke or humour ever heard of it?

Also, since you're entitled to your views, i'm entitled to mine. So come November, i'm voting for Kerry because God knows what will happen to us with four more years of George Bush.

The only clincher: jokes must be funny. Frankly, I can't stand GWB. A bit. I won't be voting for him. But I would never ever say something wishing him ill will or death.
You are totally entitled to your views. You are not entitled to be rude while expressing them.

ETA: Neither is AnchorAlum entitled to be so arrogant and ageist. We were all young once. Let's hope when Munchkin, Alethia, GPB, and all the rest of us "young 'uns" get older we're not nearly as bitter and senile as you.

LOL!!! It cracks me up how some people are still pissed about the election thing! Grow up poor-sports, because according to the U.S. Constitution and the Supreme Court, he won the election fair and square. Don't hold on to all that bitterness, it can't be good for ya. And as for lying, try checking your own party and their king of lying (Clinton) and the new liar, John Kerry
