Don't know when I coming out there. But my sister has been giving me grief for not visiting yet. Her husband has been stationed at Beale AFB for two years now, and he gets deployed for three or more months at a time. So I need to get out there soon.

I think we can get 65 signatures for greeklawgirl with no problem. I know a group of girls....

His response to them was that he really wasnt that interested in the job. Had Bob paid attention in school, he might have known that you had to be a natural born citizen of the US to be president and wouldnt have let the 65,000 or so Political Sci. majors out there in TV land know he had no idea what he was talking about because Bob Hope, was born Leslie Townes Hope in 1903 in London, England to Brittish parents.
I watched one of those Bob Hope specials many years ago. He had a skit about running for President of the United States. It ended with someone telling him he couldn't be the President because he was not born in the United States. It was funny.

Jack Valenti might have wanted Bob Hope to run for President of the Motion Picture Association of America which is the job JV holds now.

I for one am relieved that there is a clause in the Constitution saying that one must be native born in order to run for President. I would not want Arnold Schwarzenegger in the White House.

Seriously I find this kinda hillarious...
He actually uses the line..."I'll be back..." when he ends...OMG..

whatever I am kinda glad I don't live in California...

But as with everything...to each his own...
Hey at least people in CA don't cause presidential voting controversy, and our future governor Arnold doesn't have a daughter with a drug habit.

I hope he wins.

Yep, that's right, I just said I hope a Republican wins. We need as many Republican assclowns in office as possible before 2004 so that we can embarasss BuddyBoy in the White House.

Yeah, I gotta agree with you there. That's the first thing I said when I heard Arnie's speech. Did anyone else notice that he can't even pronounce California? When he says it, it sounds like a cross between California and cauliflower. And it was just in poor taste to end the press conference with "I'll be back."

I heard that Gallagher (as in Sledge-O-Matic) is also running. Leave it to California to have several has-been celebrities from the 80's running for governor.

If Arnold wins, then the heat of having stupid people voting will be officially shifted from Florida to California. Woo hoo!

Well, I guess I'll chime in here being that I actually grew up here in the state and ever since I was 16 (when I started working), my tax dollars have supported the activities of this state.

The whole thing stinks. Davis was voted in a 2nd term--let him finish it. How stupid is it to even have a recall during a budget crisis? Very stupid.

I say this. Split the state in half and the "Terminator" can hang out in Southern Cali where there is a large pecentage of Republicans.

Edited to add:
A list of who's running (in no particular order)

Incumbent Gray Davis
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Arianna Huffington
Bill Simon
Larry Flynt
Cruz Bustamante
Gary Coleman--(from CNN.com) Gary Coleman, who played Arnold Drummond in the 1980s sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes," entered the race on August 6. His candidacy was engineered by an Oakland-area newspaper, which paid his $3,500 filing fee and collected signatures in a move to protest the recall process. Coleman predicts that Arnold Schwarzenegger will win and said he would even vote for him. "Now that Arnold is in the race, there is no race. Gray Davis needs to pack his bags," he said. "I'm going to stay in the race, but I'm not going to campaign."WTF?!?!

Thumbs up I agree

http://www.ca-dem.org/

Sen. Dianne Feinstein

"I deeply believe the recall is a terrible mistake and will bring to the depth and breadth of California instability and uncertainty, which will be detrimental to our economic recovery and decision-making. This recall demonstrates that virtually anyone with $1.5 million can hire professional petition gatherers certain to produce enough signatures to force a future recall of any state elected officials. It sets a terrible precedent which ought to cause us all to think very carefully."

I vote for splitting California into two states, too. And maybe splitting Texas into three or four.

I honestly think people are going to vote for Arnold on the basis of "Wouldn't it be funny if the Terminator was governor?" and he will get elected that way.

Should Cal. be split into 2 States?

Well of Course! The Head dont know what the Ass is doing!

My question is:

Just what did Gray Davis do to desearve this? Hell, the Head of the State can only do so much and then the F******Morons who we call OUr Duly Elected Run it!

Texas: Dem. run and hide in NM for re-cutting the state up for elective areas!

Kansas: Female Gov. Dem. in a Rep. State. Rep Da-ude a flippin Dumb Ass!

Mo: quiet sec running agains a 3 time winner in Senate! Dem. hang ther hat on her! DA!

Rep/Dem. makes no Difference!

All Lambs until put on Wolves clothing when they are Elected!

Love the Black Elected memebr of Tx. who wanted to do the right thing! Told him to F Off or he would get nothing for is area!

Thumbs down Killer Kalifornication...

As far as splitting Cali into 2 states... Why do that when the San Andreas fault will do it for free???

At any rate, I don't think I want a Vietnamese (pun intended) body builder to take John Conner down and terminate his future...

Cali intro'd Recall elections like back in the Gold Rush train days when the RR Southern Pacific owned and ran all of Frisco. So, the Sacremento elected officials found a way to pounce out any official that was not doing their job to the populace's satisfaction--as I understood the tidbit of history...

This recall election is a drain to the Cali econ... NO LA guy will EVER be elected as governor in Cali--just if you live in LA, you cannot be Cali Gov... Some Hollyweird, LALAland--made up rule from long ago... That's why Reardon didn't get the Republican nomination for Governor...

Look Arnie, AIN'T Reagan!!! Hell not!!! He ain't "win one for the Gipper!!!" Dayum, he DEFINITELY ain't part of the Brown clan. And he ain't Dukemejin (sp.)... And MOS DEFINITELY, Arnie AIN'T got the BALLS to be the Petey Wilson who really shoulda been recalled but never was... So, oh hell no...

Cali's best bet is to have Gray Davis, declare state of emergency, shut the fuckin' state down, ceremoniously resign and transfer all powers to Cruz Bustamonte, the Lt. Governor... Then the dayum Recall is shutdown in court till a REAL ELECTION--you and I the taxpayer financed for in November... This whole thing is F'ed up all the way!!!
