Boston had been playing better than the Yanks as of late so what does that make them?

My 'stros are in a dogfight as ususal in the NL Central, although i'm really worried about our starting pitching down the stretch.
I think in Dotel and Wags the Astros have one of the best set-up/closer combos in the bigs, but that only comes into play if our starters and middle relievers can get us to the 7th or 8th. Oswalt and Miller i think a bona fide starters and a pretty good 1-2 combo, but after that, the rotation drops off considerably. The pick up of Kent in the offseason will bolster the offense, but in order to be taken seriously as a contender the 'Stros need to pick up a quality starter.
Berkman's had a slow start compared to last year, but Bags has been playing well. Still, it's hard for me to think the Astros have a chance at a division title or even advancing in the playoffs w/o more quality pitching.
BTW, for you Sox fans, i can understand the idea for wanting a closer, but the way BYKim was abused by the yanks 2 years ago in the WS do you think this guy is the answer?
Oh and does anyone know how much Pedro rookie cards are goin for? i came home from school and went through my BB card collection and i've got a couple Pedro RC's.
Kitso
KS 361 baseball cards i've got to go through this summer...and keep the good ones

I'm giving a wait and see on the Hillenbrand/ Kim trade. somtime before august, we'll see if the trade is worth it.

It makes me sad.
The Mets are doing surprisingly well. Miracles do happen.

Well . . . another way to look at it:
-The way that Mariano Rivera was abused in game 7, do you really think he's the best closer in baseball?
The answer is, still, "Yes!" - it's small sample size, just like when you examine Kim's 2 games against the Yankees, at age 22, in his first World Series. Plus, the Sox aren't really competing with the Yanks any more than any other team (other than the whole rivalry thing), and Kim has shown himself to be a good late-game pitcher with dominant stuff (something like 68 Ks in 40 innings?). Either way, it's the best value they could get back for Hillenbrand, who's not a great player by any measure, and he certainly isn't the answer for the d-backs. Getting a 24 yr old, proven closer for a replacement-level third baseman, when you already have another guy (and 2 more on the way)? I'll take that every day.
BK Kim can still be a dominant closer, even if he'll give me a heart attack some day.

If you all will cheer just a little bit as the Padres look to SHATTER the Met's record of 120 loses in one season, I'll be a little thankful. Anything that'll help management realize that a new ballpark isn't going to attract fans, but a team that actually competes will, will help.

As the Mets (LET'S GO METS!!) inch a little closer to .500 ball, it was AWESOME to see them whoop Atlanta on Sunday. We rarely get Mets games here in Philly. And speaking of Philly, let's just say that you can buy a big bat in Thome, a speed guy in Bell and a fabulous pitcher in Millwood, but you can't make this team not stink up Vet Stadium at least three times a week! Anyone who thinks this team has played up to their potential needs a check up from the neck up. I've seen them play about 8 games this season thus far, and they've lost most.
Anyways...for all you Mets fans (me and Cream!), isn't it good to see Jeromy Burnitz hitting well again! Love him!! Some day we'll win
