I think it should only be allowed to snow in the mountains. Outside of the mountains, it should only be allowed to snow from 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve to 5 p.m. on New Years Day...

My children's school was cancelled yesterday before there was a snowflake. I was pretty irate about it too! They could have gotten half a day in since it did not start snowing until around lunchtime.
On a side note, for all those people who rant about the south states shutting down due to snow...the problem is that most of the time we don't get just snow, we get sleet and ice storms. Driving on sheer ice is a lot different than driving on snow!

Hey,
I go to school with CanadianTKE..Carleton in Ottawa-colder here than St. Petersburg. No joke. They had to get the police here to cancell classes during the ice storm. I guess thats what you get when you can skate to school!

It snowed more today than it did all of last year. I'm dreaming of a White Christmas.

I have some friends who go to school on the east coast and am planning on going up in January / early February to visit. Do you think there will be any chance of it snowing? If it matters, they are in the DC / Boston area.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to turn you all into a weatherman/woman. I was just curious if it usually snowed during that time of year. Sorry!

snow in south
Or at least in VA, people freak out. No one can drive. They either drive the same way they normally do, shut them selves in, or try to show off their four wheel drives. Why not just slow down??? oh yeah, and they always, without fail, storm every supermarket they can find. In case its the apocylapse. There's no milk to be found anywhere, and there's like maybe half an inch.

That is so true! Actually, there's a fourth category - drivers who slow down so much that they're barely moving at all, even if there's just a dusting of snow. I was down in Fairfax a few years back - there was maybe 1/4 inch of snow, and people were going 15mph on I-66 Every single school was closed, and half my co-workers didn't bother to show up that day (the other half were either people like myself, on travel from points north, or people who had grown up in New York/Boston/Chicago/etc).

lol! No problem. I was feeling like Al Roker.
We usually don't have snow for Christmas in NYC so it would be great if we had a White Christmas.

I touched snow for the first time last year and I haven't done so since.
It's funny...I freeze up at 65 degrees.
Enjoy the winter, folks!

i'm actually hoping for snow.. even if it is just a tiny bit! Since I have moved to the northern part of texas, I have been FREEZING!!!
I don't know how you northern people can live like that!!! i have been a human popscile since i got here and the weather dropped under 65 degrees!!! (For my sake, I don't think I will move any farther north !) i lived in south texas for most of my life and didn't get cold weather until december-ish... and it's been fairly cool/cold here since october! (since october, i have discovered the wonderful world of electric blankets!)
a couple of weeks ago, I was on my way to class and it was 19 degrees outside (with the windchill ) and STILL didn't see any snow!

its -15 F here right now (-26C) this is when it almost gets to cold to snow. we get the winds coming off of Hudsons Bay and the Arctic Ocean. Ottawa is the coldest capital city in the world, colder even then Moscow.
