Alpha Gamma Delta

Counting all new charters, recolonizations, pulled chapters etc, here are the "current" stats..

181 Total Chapters
115 Active Chapters
66 Inactive Chapters (not that you couldnt figure it)
123,000+ Initiates. Someone could probably contact IHQ and find the exact number
63.5% of Chapters Still Active.

That's really cool, Virtual Violet. Delta's Alumnae Chapters here in DC have been doing great work ever since I can remember. My Math teacher in High School is the curent President of Federal City Alumnae.

I was given the answer, per the most recent statistics from our National Convention last week. The collegiate chapters comprise 393 of our 887 chapters worldwide.

Thanks for the info, Virtual Violet. I knew that in Delta Sigma Theta (and most other NPHC groups), alumni/ae chapters tend to be just as active as collegiate chapters, which I think is great! I just have learned from experience that it can be difficult to get a read on which group or organization is biggest, etc., because different groups may count different things: just collegiate chapters, collegiate and alumn chapters, total initiates, active collegiates and alums, and so on. Its always best to get as much info as possible so that comparisons can be as accurate as possible. Thanks again!

I have been known to be wrong though. If you have some links, please post them.

You are not wrong. Profet's post was just a bs rumor. That info usually is not public.

Well, sometimes it is public. Phi Kappa Tau’s website reports that their Foundation has assets in excess of $11 million. (Phi Kappa Tau Foundation.) Meanwhile, Sigma Chi’s website reports that their Foundation had assets in 2001 of over $19 million. (History of the Sigma Chi Endowment Foundation.) Some other fraternities list foundation/endowment assets on their websites, while others do not.

damn, there are some big houses, i dont think the pi kapps are as big as that. But is size really that important, i sometimes think that the really big fraternities will take anyone. Maybe i'm wrong, and as for alumni donations, i have no idea but i did a report at school about the skullls at yale university and about what fraternities they came from, and most came from delta kappa epsilon (dke), including the president and his father, and numerous other yale alumni that were dke and part of the skulls.

Our house has I think only 54 active chapters. But as you can guess, our motto is quality not quantity. We are at at least kappa phi and I think a lot are inactive. Nationals have begun to take charters away from dangerous chapters. I think the greek system in general is getting smaller. The rush numbers from many of the houses here are not looking good for men at least. Negative media is just killin us here. Damn media.

On a different subject though, does chapter have anything special about their phone number. Our last four digits are 6294 and a lot of our chapters have that number with a different 3 numbers as the beginning. I know why and its a secret (kinda) so don't ask. Anyone else have something similar?

HEY I am renting a room at Theta Xi's house this summer and the number here is a 6294--I never realized that there was some significance to that, but I don't even need to know WHAT it is to think it's kinda' cool...

Thanks for the info!

greek love,

Thanks, Angels & Arrows, for doing that ... I have to say also I am very impressed by groups such as D Phi E that have a small percentage of closed chapters. That's doing something right.

(I know some groups were hit hard by joining the NPC and losing some chapters, and other groups have been hit harder than others by campuses banning Greek life - I mean, you can't blame a national for that, so I don't mean to get down on the groups that have experienced those problems. Just trying to give kudos to those who are taking care of the chapters they've got!)

Wow Angels&Arrows, that must have taken a lot of work. I do have some corrections for you though.

First, AOPi does not have 176 active chapters. It's just not possible. Maybe that was total numbers of charters.

Second, according to the summer issue of the Alpha Phi Quarterly we have about 143 active chapters including our colonies and ongoing revitalization/recolonizations. From the day I pledged (way back in '94) up til now I've always heard we were fourth.

Despite my nit picking, that was really good work.

These numbers will tend to fluxuate as the year goes on. Last year, KD closed 3 chapters for different reasons. This year, we are chartering at least 2. So that means we were at 125, down to 122, but we'll be back up to 124. It's nice to see that so many are about the same size.
I think one thing people need to keep in mind too is when each sorority was founded. Year joining NPC doesn't mean anything, because each sorority was founded much earlier. For example, KD was founded in 1897 and didn't join NPC until 1912. There are other sororities that were founded 25 or more years before us that may have about the same amount of chapters. So I guess the growth rate would be interesting.
For anyone that's a stats major, it would be awesome to see all these kind of stats! I wish NPC would have a more up to date website, that thing hasn't been changed in ages. All those kind of stats would be just fun to have!

APhi.. You are correct... the 176 is AOPi's total chapters chartered... However, I could not find which ones are currently opened! I figured, I would just post... and someone out here in GC Kindgom would correct me!!!! HELP!!!!!

Thanks for the up-date on Alpha Phi.. I will change it in a few... I PM'd you the list I pulled off APhi's website... Can you tell me which ones are closed?

This goes for everyone... If you have up-to-date information (oour HQ's websites are not always)... Please let me know...

Nit pick away... I think everyone on here, knows I do about Pi Phi!! We all just love our GLOs, (as we should)!

In the Greek Bond,
Shelly

Actually Alpha Epsilon Phi does have an active website. It's aephi.org. And we, Alpha Chi Omega officially have 133 open chapters not 132.

Thank you AXWhoah...

Alpha Epsilon Phi appears to be updating their website, everywhere I clicked said "coming soon." I guess I should have been more specific... The same for Theta Phi Alpha... Both seem to have inactive websites... or websites under construction.

The Alpha Chi Omega website under collegiate search states 132 chapters, however, they list 135, so I assumed some closed... I am finding that many of our GLO's websites need to be updated.... I PM'd you the list, please let me know, what needs to be added and or changed.

Thank you!
