Me - 5 lbs. 4 oz. - Mom was a smoker but also a small woman.
Hubby - 5 lbs. 2 oz. - Mom never smoked but is a small woman.
Son - 6 lbs. 12 oz. - I am small. Son was natural but labor was induced two weeks early because he was getting huge. I was moved from the birthing unit to a delivery room in case I needed an emergency C-section. Thank goodness it didn't come to that.
Alphagam-alum reminded me! Drugs are good!

I was 6 pounds 10 ounces and a month late! They had to induce my mom because I was not coming out. My brother was 7 pounds 10 ounces and a C-section. The funny thing is if you talk to my mom, I was the most beautiful baby she had ever seen and if you talk to my dad, my brother was the most beautiful baby he had ever seen. So I guess all that stuff about just being happy if it was a healthy baby was crap--my mom wanted a girl and my dad wanted a boy. And they both got what they wanted!

I was about 7.5 lbs I think. Born on my due date, 2 days after Mardi Gras.
My mom was at Mardi Gras right before I was born (the family-oriented parades, not the french quarter debauchery ) and she says she thinks the drums got me moving

I was my mommy's 30th birthday present.....I was a nice, average 7 lb 10 oz, born 3 days before her b-day in '72. Now I should have had whopper-sized babies because I was decent size, I am a taller woman, and my husband was huge by twin standards.....he was well over 6 lbs as was his brother. But my daughter was born at 38 weeks (induced due to her tiny size) weighing 4 lb 13 oz. My son was born at 36 weeks (due to me having preeclampsia) weighing 5 lb 3 oz. He might have been fairly big had I made it to term.....I had an u/s at about 32 weeks that estimated he would be between 7 1/2 and 8 1/2 lb at birth.
I might add, once tiny always tiny at least in my family. My daughter is now 3 and she only weighs 26 lbs and is just over 3 feet tall.....such a petite little girl. My son is now 16 months old and weighs 21 lb and is 30 1/2 inches. His 5 month-old cousin outweighs him!!!!!!!

I remember when I was pregnant with my older daughter and we would to to church, she would always "dance" to the organ music. To this day, she's very musically inclined!

7 lbs. 7oz, born on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7th. 3 weeks early, which I am SO glad about, because I would have hated to have been born on the 21st. A December birthday is bad enough, what with the holidays and all. My twin's (in KD) birthday is Christmas, and she always gets shafted!

I was about 8 lbs and I was super late (like 2 weeks)... I think my mom was probably starting to wonder if I'd ever come out! But I came out perfectly healthy... I like to say I was fashionably late

I came out 9 pounds, a bunch of ounces, wearing sun glasses, a leather jacket , and pouring myself a big drink of fine Kentucky Bourbon.
The first thing I did was pinch the nurse's ass and ask: "where's the party?".
My Father was born at over 12 pound . .. my Grandmother was only 4'6" tall. . .. IU can't even imagine how that must have felt.

Birth weight isn't a good indication of future size...
I'll admit it, my screen name maybe Lil Snakey K, but at 5'11, my height doesn't match so well with my miniscule birthweight.
I was due on my mom's birthday (June 19), but born two months before that on my parent's anniversary (April 19).
I was a whopping 3lbs 6 ozs.
What can I say, I wanted to meet the Easter Bunny.
Hehehe....
Greek Love,
Lil Snakey K

Just thought I'd share a little sentiment......during my first pregnancy I managed to convince myself that I was carrying a boy. Mind you, I didn't want a boy, I had always wanted a girl and could not see myself with anything but. However, I guess it was a defense mechanism kicking in to get me used to the idea in case it really was a boy, I don't know. Anyway, in my sixth month I attended Chi Omega's national convention as an advisor with another advisor and two of our actives. It was in June, in blazing hot Phoenix, AZ and let me tell you I was dying. The baby was moving around a lot all of a sudden, perhaps from the heat. Anyway, I was sitting there in a meeting surrounded by sisters, many of whom were legacies and there were also a lot of mothers and daughters there. Out of nowhere the idea hit me that maybe I was carrying a girl, my own little legacy, and that here she was with me at convention!!!! I got very weepy at the thought (as hormonally charged pregnant women are apt to do) and went around after that just knowing that I had a little Chi O inside me. So just after I got back home, I had my ultrasound. I can't even describe what went through my mind as the technician said "It's a little girl!!!!!"

James, in answer to your question about your grandmother, I would imagine it felt something akin to pooping a watermelon.
