Sue, do you work at the creamery? The fam has been talking about going up for a football game and to learn more about the college of engineering (since that's what baby bro is going to major in). I took my brother up for the general spiel/tour back in March. I can't wait to see what side of the rivalry our family will be on.

@KillarneyRose- The main memory of have of the Delta Zetas at our campus is when they came to our water balloon dodgeball tournament, won the tournament (which had a cash prize), and donated the money back to the Foundation. I thought that was super sweet and classy of them and every one I've met since has been a sweetheart. Oh and seriously, if you come visit PM me! One visit with me and you'll see if CeCe Newbie won't start considering coming here, I'm very persuasive.
@honeychile- If by the Mounds flavor you mean coconut chip, I could not disagree more. I love it! It's seriously such a perfect ice cream for coconut and chocolate lovers.
@violetpretty- No I don't work at the Creamery I'm just a fifth year senior who has hung out there a lot haha. And again, PM me if you're coming up. I promise free ice cream or coffee to all and I can give a lengthy (yet not completely unbiased) list of why Penn State is so awesome.

Please don't make me start another thread
If this is going to get like that recruitment stories thread where everyone was raving about Texas Food, then I'm going to have to start another thread.
Which will actually be about Penn State recruitment rather than grilled stickies, Creamery Ice Cream (does it taste as good in the new building???) or any other Centre County Delicacies.
Oh, and what's the deal with this (from the article at the beginning of this thread): "Jenkins also stressed the importance of following the code of conduct, which includes the rule where no rushing sisters are allowed in the fraternity houses from 8 p.m. until midnight." What's a rushing sister? Do they mean current sorority members (most likely) or PNMs? What's the purpose of this rule?

My apologies, LT; I'm the one who knocked the thread off topic

It was actually called Mounds - there were a LOT of candy bar names at the time! But I am talking a gazillion years ago. Could use a Creamery cone right now!

My sister just emailed me and said she's going to Bid Day today! Good luck to all the PNMs and chapters! Hope the rain holds off over there.

The rain held off! I went to my last bid day as an active on the HUB lawn. It was chilly but so exciting! I loved chanting and seeing all our new women. We got 9 wonderful new members. I seriously loved every one of them during recruitment and they are all so happy and ready to get involved.
Quota was 27 I believe, the highest ever! Upperclassman quota was also used this year, which was 5 for each chapter. I will let you know how individual chapters did ASAP. Thank you for all the well wishes, it was an exhausting but exhilarating time and we are all so happy with our newest members and excited to start up with COR events.

YAYYYYYYY.
And at it being your last, though. I remember sitting in our living room at my last one and being happy to meet the new girls, yet sad at the same time.

Wow - a quota of FIVE upperclassmen - things have changed so much since I was at PSU. When I rushed (yes, it was still "rush") almost everyone was a sophomore; our pledge class had 1 freshman, 1 junior, and 15 sophomores.
The sororities sent out groups to sing and collect girls at their doors, and you had no idea who was coming for you (unless you suicided, like I did, and hadn't received The Call, so you knew exactly who was coming). You never saw your Rush Counselor again, and only found out through the grape vine what sorority she was in. And there was no SDT or AOPi (although they both arrived on campus while I was there); no TriSig, no SK, no DZ or ADPi. But there was AGD and TriDelt.
....and you wore onions on your belt, and if you were from Shelbyville, you wore green onions.....

OMG!!! The singing bids! I haven't thought about that in soooo long, but at my school (SRU) they did the same thing! I'm betting we are close to the same age. I was at SRU from 98-01

I was going to ask if you went there when you mentioned the Rock apartments. Everything there is Rock something just like everything near Penn State is Nittany something. lol. (I went to Clarion.)
LT and I are both quite a bit older than you, it's just that things change sloooooowly here in PA. (and we like it that way )
