Our worst was an Uncle Sam T-shirt that says "I want you to Rush Sigma Nu Fall 2000". It's horrible because of the greyish purple color that the shirt material was. It looks bad no matter what you wear with it.

Best in my opinion is from our St Paddy's Day party in '01. It looks like one of those Lucky Brand shirts but has our letters on it and the party's name and the name of the party of course "Get Lucky"

I was purchasing coordinator for a year so I'd like to think that no ugly shirts came out of the time period; however, our Panhel Recruitment shirts last year were this nasty bright, bee yellow...yuck! My two favorite slogan shirts are: 1) "All women are created equal, some just make better choices" (My bid day shirt - 1999) and 2) The front said "The most incredible women at EMU wear..." and the back had all our campus' sororities listed.

The worst shirt I've probably ever seen on my campus was from Greek Week 2001. One of the fraternities got a shirt that said "XYZ Taxidermist...No one stuffs your beaver better." It was really stupid and had absolutely no point.

The ugliest ones I've seen came from Homecoming this last fall. I guess for some reason one of our patner's colors was blue, or a bluish. So, we got sweatshirts in their color, and they got theirs in one of ours, maroon. They were lucky, you can't screw up maroon. But ours came out TEAL. It wasn't a good teal either, it was the teal that looks horrible with everything! They looked terrible and they had maroon writing on them. I never see anyone wearing them except when they are really running low on shirts!

The best were our date dash shirts this year. They were maroon, with the adidas stripes on the sleeves in white and "Sigma Kappa 2002 Date Dash" on the front over the chest. On the back it has the WSU cougar logo in the middle and it says "All the good girls come out after dark" and all the writing is in white.

I am before the time of mass t-shirt making, but I do remember a BUTT UGLY Derby Days shirt we had. It had a cartoon face (like the 20's cartoons) in a derby - and bright gold (I know those are your colors guys, but a lot of people look CRAPPY in gold). The only good thing about it was that it said Stubler's Beverage on the back.

I am very ashamed to say that the ugliest shirts we have had since I joined in fall of 2001 is the one that was my first purchase as Purchase Fund Chairman. It is blue and has THETA in big letters on the front. And on the back it has a poem and I still cannot tell you what it says, because I am sure I have not read it all. It wouldnt be that bad of a shirt, but it is really really busy and hard to read the back of. It is a pretty color and if it just had Theta and then some cute saying on the back then it would be ok, but a whole poem? To tell you how much noone likes the shirt it has ended up in the Theta auction at the end of the semester that it was first given out. Is that bad? I usually just wear mine to work out in.

My favorite shirt was the Fall Bid Day 2001 shirt which was my first Theta shirt ever. It had Kappa Alpha Theta Bid Day 2001 with a kite on the front and then on the back it had a quote from Amy Grant who is a Theta. It is gray with blue and yellow lettering and I wear the shirt all the time!

These are so funny.

Anyway, I've seen a few winners. One of my friends is a Delta Upsilon at another school, and they got shirts that said on the front it said "Delta UPSilon" and on the back "We pack more box between 1 and 4 PM than any other house on campus" The administration banned them the first day the guys wore them. Another was "Delta Upsilon...tighter than your little sister" Pigs I tell you.

A funny one I saw had a picture of Homer Simpson on the back in his stonecutters robe and the slogan was "No Stonecutters chapter in your town? Join XYZ"

I agree with Leslie...the Panhel recruitment shirts were SO UGLY. And I ended up with an extra large as well. Not only is it ugly, it hangs down to my knees. My personal favorite is the Delts rush shirt from last fall:
"I'm a Delt.........so I've got that going for me!"

We had a really cute one for Hayride last year. They were navy and said Alpha Gamma Delta Hayride 2001 on the front in white, and on the back it said "ain't no closing time, ain't no cover charge, just country boys and girls, gettin' down in the hay!" So cute. Also, we were debating having a shirt for Greek Week that said "You don't like us, but your boyfriend does." LOL

I liked the taxidermy shirt! It's cool just because it makes absolutely no sense. You just look at it and go "what...?"

Hol, I totally forgot about that Delt shirt! It was very cute! What was a little disturbing on the taxidermy shirts was that the beaver looked suspiciously like a squirrel.

Also, the Sig Eps former house was condemed (twice) and last year they printed the notice on the back of their Greek Week shirts. It wouldn't make sense to anyone not from our campus, but it was cool that they had a sense of humor about it.

I've noticed that a lot of the fraternity shirts have been suggestive, and this occurs often on our campus. Recently our Panhellenic Council made up a compact for every sorority to sign that stated something along the lines that suggestive t-shirts and ones that are demeaning towards women will not be tolerated by Panhellenic sororities, and we will not participate in socials with the organizations that chose to wear these shirts. We discussed this matter in our last chapter meeting of the year, so it will be intersting to see if any of the other sororities signed this and if it will be enacted in the fall. What do you all think about this somewhat boycott of fraternities with risque shirts?

Just about all of my shirts from my days as an undergrad were all pretty good.

However...the chapter's fall 2001 rush shirt was a major disappointment. Originally I heard they were going to make a shirt with the 3 Stooges on the Back in their golf outfits with the slogan "Pi Kappa Alpha...developing gentlemen since 1868" -- not bad, but not exactly great either. But some of the older brothers apparently opposed the shirt, and one of them flippantly spouted out a new idea...which was taken seriously and printed!

It said "If you're three feet tall it sucks, but if you're three feet tall lying down, then you're a Pike!"

I couldn't believe my guys made that shirt...although I don't see them wear them around much.

IMO, this is overkill. I have never been so offended by a shirt that I would boycot the fraternity.

wow. boycott? whatever. i guess thats kewl if the shirts are extremely offensive. like badmouthing a specific sorority, sororities in general, or promoted violence toward women. but i've only ever seen shirts that are just distasteful or lewd but pretty funny. i've seen some sororities with pretty risque shirts too. i think that it goes both ways.

The Sigma Pi's had shirt banned from campus one year it was their annual pig roast shirt on the back it had little pigs in different sexual positions with the all the fraternity and sorority letters going around it and the caption was "Makin Bacon"

The Pike had a pledge shirt that on the front "the Average Pike is...." and on the back it said 12 inches long and it had a huge pic of a pike fish.

The cutest was a LXA shirt that said LXA Ski Weekend: it had a top ten list of why it was okay to fall down and number one was chicks dig scars.. it was cute

I know we passed the compact as well in out chapter. BUt I think some of the shirts are funny, However some that aren't..........
Lets see: Simga Nu?
Every girls wants to get a knight off. (That was real classy)
or the we burn more rubber one.
or their construction party. We screw, we nut, we bolt.

I think that this has the possibility to be taken out of hand, because some of the suggestive ones are funny, but there is a fine line between suggestive and offensive.
