Ohhhh almost forgot my favorite...when you have a date with a crush and all your sisters are running around helping you get ready and giving you advice...then when you get back everybody is camped out waiting for the scoop! So fun.

We don't have a house either but all of this stuff is getting me super stoked for this year! I'm living with a sister, and a bunch of other sisters are living together in various houses...oh man, it's gonna be fun.

*Sitting in the kitchen after a night out, raiding the fridge for bagels and slices of cheese to put in the toaster, and gossiping about everyone's night
*Living with my big sis for 2 years, who ended up being the BEST roommate EVER
*Living across the hall from my grandbig sophomore year. That girl was a trip!
*If you didn't have something to wear, there was always someone who did
* 2nd floor vs 3rd floor battles
*fighting over whether to watch Dawsons Creek or 90210 in the TV room (yikes dating myself much)
*fraternity serenades
*getting ready with everyone for dated party/formal
*getting made fun of for singing Coldplay's "Yellow" in the shower every morning
*practicing serenading songs in the shower mornings during serenading season (yes, the words were laminated and in the shower stalls LOL)
*The PRANKS.................OMG we had so many. For some reason, our house were HUGE prank callers. I miss the 2AM prank call a thons SO much. Then there was the night sophomore year where 2 sisters who were roomies were gone at a fraternity dated party. We swapped EVERYTHING in their room while they were gone. Their beds, all the stuff on their desks, their posters, their closets, their dressers, EVERYTHING. It was awesome. Shouldve been up that night studying, but hey, we all get distracted. Then the last night in the house sophomore year. The few of us still there played Ouija board, read eachothers Tarot cards (LOL) and then decided to do dares. It turned into a night of TOTAL randomness. We found this UGLY yellow armchair next to the dumpster behind the house. We lugged it to the corner of Knox and set it down in front of Smoothie King and dared a sister to get on it and dance. And this was PRIME bar hour......LOL amazing. Then we left the chair on the front door of one of the fraternities, knocked and ran. Later, we ended up at the crush of one of our sister's off campus house, and in true Mary Katherine Gallagher style, wished them the best of luck in finals a la Superstar...................and papas fritas...........(inside joke LOL).....which brings me to...........................
* The inside jokes...................OMG there were so many that are unforgettable
Living in the house helped me create some of the best memories of my life. I lived in for 3 years and don't regret one single day of it!

*Watching Greys, Project Runway, Top Model, and such in the TV room.
*SERENADES. Sometimes they were a surprise and you didn't get to see them if you didn't live in unless you just happened to be there.
*Getting to be there when girls would go on first dates and getting all of the details. My roommate went on her first date with her now husband when we were living together in the house, and we were being so ridiculous when he came to pick her up, and like 2 of us camped out in the lounge til she got back so we could see how it went.

I lived in the house for 3.5 years - from second semester freshman year until I graduated senior year.
- getting ready to go out - sitting on the floor to do makeup in the mirror in the hallway and listening to music blasting from someones' room
- waking up around 11 on Saturdays and Sundays and going down to the kitchen for some hangover food and a big mug of ice water and hearing about everyone's night
- Taking the Ouija board from room 14 and trying to contact Annie, the house ghost
- Coming in at 2 am from going out and ordering Pokey Stix or Jimmy Johns. Or, if we were in Campustown, eating a gyro, and hanging with everyone else coming home at that time
- Smokers socials - you always knew there was someone to go outside with you
- Crowding 20+ girls into the [small] tv room to watch Friends on a Thursday night (yes, I'm old)
- Serenades! Both giving them and receiving them
- Friday lunches of grilled cheese, tomato soup and brownies - especially during the winter
- The waiters!
It wasn't always perfect - I had pleny of hard times living in the house, too, but the good memories definitely outweigh the bad. I wish I would have appreciated it more when I was there.

Oh my goodness, Pokey Stix! I just moved, and there's not a Gumby's anywhere around here at all! (sorry for the hijack)

- having a bike in the tree in the front lawn
- having pizza/delivery people know exactly who/where I am
- trading insults/compliments with room mates
- having pledges do the dishes/bathroom cleaning
- playing horse shoes while drinking cheap beer
- first hand account/view/heads up on things in the chapter (houses at my alma mater were just regular four-bedroom houses)
- the friendly spider who lived there
- not really doing anything in order to have a ton of people show up
- when my room mate tried to make pasta without water and it set off the smoke detectors and then we found him passed out in the bathroom

On our campus everyone is housed, so most people live in all four years. Many of my favorite memories are similar to those already posted.
- getting ready in the morning for school and at night to go out
- watching our favorite TV shows all together
- always having someone around to go study, get coffee, etc.
- during Recruitment having everyone live in and doing random sisterhood activities (particularly lip syncs)
- rooming with someone I didn’t know very well and becoming best friends with them
- dance parties in the hallways
- getting ready and helping others get ready for dates
- having ample closets to borrow from
- never feeling alone or lonely because someone was always there to talk to

*Hooking up Mario Party and Mario Kart 64 in the TV room just for kicks.
*Constant supply of junk food. Girls (or their parents) would sometimes bring baked goods over and just leave them for the house girls.
*Living on the same street as 4 other sororities and having girls talk to you randomly just walking down/up the street.

I can now add more to this since I moved back into our house for my last semester -i.e. after my initial post in this thread.
I absolutely LOVED my roommate in the house this past semester and we used to do this:
- rush each other to get the best second floor shower in the mornings
- go grocery shopping on Saturday mornings in our pajamas
- Sonic Happy Hour runs!
- coming home from Sigma Chi Graffiti to find that she was back from Austin in time to help me get the Sharpie off my skin... oops
- singing 'our' songs (not the most appropriate haha) while dancing around the room until 2am
- decorating our door at the very last minute for the house door decorating contest and WINNING
- campaigning against the girls across the hall for best house roommates '09 - they won, but they baked a cake and handed out cookies... hahaha, so we came in second out of about five pairs
- all-night therapy sessions with other girls in the house because we're good listeners
- talking with her boyfriend or my 'interest' (for lack of better term) while talking to each other
- sharing the mirror while getting ready and laughing hysterically about our inside jokes
- I also loved to run next door to Sigma Kappa (our houses are joined by a door on the second and third floors) to see all of my friends over there at all hours
I really miss living in my house now...

Oh, lord, it's been so long ... let's see ...
Sitting around the chapter room watching the ABC soap lineup and getting into heated debates about the outcome of story lines.
Coming home after a night out and watching "Friday Night Videos" on TBS and eating potato chips and dip.
Hosting an impromptu party in my '74 Mustang II in the house parking lot since we couldn't have alcohol in the house.
Theme TGIFs (mixers) and some of the crazy outfits we wore.
Having a place to belong on campus. My parents insisted I go to college in the town in which I grew up, so being a Sigma Kappa was how I got to experience "college life."

Living in the house
I really enjoyed living in the house during summer break, 7-8 guys living in a house for built for 50 playing floor hockey, having floor wars 2 vs 3rd floor with bottle rockets black cats etc. sitting on the roof and drinking shiner beer on the fourth of July, watching ESPN until five in the morning ,marathon games of poker, living in Austin going to Sixth Street , Barton Springs, Lake Travis . I was taking one three hour Spanish Class at Austin Communiy College with an instructor who announced the first day if you don't miss class and you try hard you will make a C or better(he was a communist from Argentina). My class was full of UT Greeks thrilled to be taking summer school with him, what a great summer .

Totally agree with always knowing what's going on in the chapter....the in-house girls know all the upcoming events in the house, and on Greek row.
I loved going to talk in my friend's room, and before you knew it, there would be 6 or 8 other sisters in there, all gossiping and giggling.
Going to "lunch" at 1030, going to 11 o'clock class, coming back at noon to "lunch" and sitting in the dining room talking until 2!
Working with my best friends on banners, skits, costumes upstairs in the chapter room and attic, and digging through piles of old pictures and books. It was always really fun to find a box of 1982 pledge shirts that got lost in the back corner!

1982 Pledge shirts? Wow! I wondered where those had gone! We looked all over for them the night before bid day!
