They were just flat this year. But then again, MTV has long since given up being about MUSIC and/or videos, so *shrug*. And who or what is Tokio Hotel? They look like a bad 80s hair metal group.

I'm still trying to decide re: Christina. She looks great, but I wasn't sure about the song. Jitterbug1913, kindly get out of my head, I was thinking the same thing.

Brit looked great!

They needed another host.

Jordin Sparks, not everyone who has had sex is a slut, OK?

And can someone tell me what Rihanna's get-up was? Thigh-high boots were not flattering

We were not the only ones who thought this...

Britney did look great. Long story, but my cousin had to stop by her house on Saturday when they were taping some of the first scenes. She actually looked very put-together. Honestly, I think she was one of the best dressed celebs there.

HATED the host. HATED him. Can't believe he went on about Obama and then to "keep things even" brought up Palin's daughter. I stopped watching the show the minute it happened and you'll no longer see me supporting the MTV network.

Having someone who presents an award talking politics is one thing. Having the host is something altogether not acceptable. At least not when it's a network that the targets young, impressionable public. I would not be OK with it regardless of who the host was saying to support.

Honestly, from what I've heard what he did is just part of his regular shtick.

This reminds me of when people got upset about "Dame Edna" making comments about Latinos and didn't bother to find out who Dame Edna was and that her comedy was satire.

British humour still doesn't translate here.

I totally agree, I mentioned that yesterday as well. This is an awards show, not a political commentary, and he kept it up throughout the show. I didn't know what his whole point in making fun of the Jonas Brothers & their promise rings. I'm glad Jordin Sparks made a comment about it while she was on stage.

I don't really care if it was British satire, it isn't appropriate for an awards show.

And again I say, now that Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers are part of MTV life, i've officially moved on. I'm too old to be watching those little tweeny boppers.

KDAngel: Is it that serious? He was commenting as an outsider. I don't let MTV shape my political views or have any bearing on my political choices. I don't think most people do, either. (Then again, I came up during Choose Or Lose's hey day, when MTV was about something, lol.)

JennRN: I think that's why his hand was there. Belts and/or regular fitting pants do the same thing. Or maybe he just wanted to make himself feel good while he was performing...

Is MTV still relevant these days? Or did it lose credibility when Kurt, Tabitha, Karyn, John and Gideon left? Is Gideon still there? Does anyome remember who those names are? lol Did I just date myself?

Does MTV even play music anymore? Last time I caught TRL, they didn't even play the whole videos. What's the point?

MTV jumped the shark at around the time when The Real World did. When it became all about drinking, hooking up and fighting, and NO ONE they cast was real.

The other time I remember MTV making a big mistake was when I was in college and they had the I Wanna Be a VJ contest, and they had the viewers vote on the winner. Anyone remember this, when Jesse the tweaked out guy won? They ended up giving him small roles, and they hired Dave to host Say What Karaoke!

OMG Jesse Camp.

Yes, I remember this. He had an album ome out and he even debuted his first video on TRL with Carson.

I turned past MTV and to my amazement, TRL iis still on. I had ZERO CLUE who 90% of the people in the videos were (or the hosts), but the show is still on.

I remember when the most important part of my day was making sure I got out of Student Council early so I could get home and watch TRL because I wanted to see if NSYNC beat out the Backstreet Boys for the number 1 spot. LOL.

They lost credibility when my husband Quddus left.

But no, seriously, I remember everyone but Gideon.
