I'm here! Just in Arlington, VA for a few days so not online much!

Lillywhites is BY FAR better than Everyday. Its some of Dave's deepiset songwriting to date and it cannot help but touch you when you listen to it.

More later!

Dave Matthews' Double Dose of Daddyhood

The space between the walls of Dave Matthews' house has gotten a bit more crowded.

The alternarocker and his wife, Ashley, are celebrating the birth of twin daughters, according to his band's official Website, DaveMatthews.com.

The missus gave birth to the fraternal twins, Stella Busina and Grace Anne, last Wednesday in Seattle. The two girls are the first for Matthews, 34, and his 27-year-old wife, who tied the knot in August 2000 after eight years of couplehood.

No further details about the birth--such as the bambinos' dimensions--were disclosed, but they did arrive a little early. They weren't officially due until next month--Matthews even built a month-long hiatus into his band's current five-month, 53-city tour that was supposed to kick in next Wednesday and last through the end of September.

Fortunately for Matthews, he won't be straying far from his family's temporary home base in Seattle, where his wife is studying naturopathy, a form of holistic medicine. (The couple usually reside in Charlottesville, Virginia.) His band plays the Gorge Amphitheater in nearby George this weekend followed by a show next Tuesday at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. After that he's not due back on the road until a September 29 date at the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana.

"As we wind the tour down," he told the Detroit Free Press, "I'll be able to wind up my fatherhood.

(We're guessing with a pair of healthy newborns in the house, Matthews will be spending many a future night wide awake and dreaming--of a chance to get back on the road for a rew relatively peaceful nights.)

While Matthews hasn't yet commented on the stork visit, he earlier said he expected the kids to dominate his life. "I can't wait to have babies! Nothing else seems important," he told Entertainment Weekly. "I can imagine it's only going to affect me positively," he added in an interview with the Detroit Free Press, "so hopefully it does the same for my career"

Not that he has anything to worry about, work-wise. His concert trek last year was the third-highest-grossing touring act in the world, raking in nearly $68 million from 63 dates, and his band's latest album, Everyday, debuted at number one back in March and is the latest DMB disc to go muliplatinum. A retrospective of their videos came out on video and DVD this week and the band has another live album due in October.

DMB Go Live Again
August 22, 2 p.m. ET, RollingStone.com

Amid a year in which they released a chart-topping album and saw an unreleased recording become a cult favorite with fans, the Dave Matthews Band will also drop yet another live album on fans.
The DMB will release the two-CD set, Live in Chicago 12/19/98, on October 23rd. The set, recorded at the Windy City's United Center, will be the band's fourth live recording, not counting a Dave Matthews, Tim Reynolds live album from 1999. They released double-disc sets, Live at Red Rocks 8/15/95 in 1997 and Listener Supported in 1999, and the band's first full-length release, 1993's Remember Two Things, was also a live recording.

Fans can place advance orders for the new album through the band's Web site, www.davematthewsband.com.

The DMB also recently released The Videos 1994-2001 on DVD/VHS. The collection culls twelve of the band's videos in addition to a trio of behind-the-scenes short films.

So Dave is a daddy. Wow. I know many fans (girl fans that is) out there are super jealous.

The Lillywhites....Someone asked what they were originally supposed to be called. No one has answered that question and I must say I'm super curious. I have a vague recollection of it being something super lame. But I may just be thinking about EVERYDAY .

As for getting ahold of the disc...I have the whole thing, digitally remastered and studio quality. Don't bother checking out the website or looking for it in stores. You won't find it. I got it during the 2 day window when the songs were origainally released. The site got so overloaded that it crashed (kinda like the way we crashed that website that has all the cute little icons. i miss those ). I think they tried to get the site up and running again but to no avail. Rumour has it (so Dave says) that the songs will eventually be released. If you got to read the Rolling Stone article that came out around the time Everyday was released, you'd know the whole saga around Lillywhites not getting released. Dave loves the songs (after all, he wrote them alone, from the heart, without Glen the loser Ballard) and was pretty ticked that the record company scrapped it. He wants to release them at some point. And when he does, I will buy it, even though I own it. It just seems like the right thing to do.

And YAY about the live disc that's coming out. I don't have any live stuff from beyond Crush. I've scarcely heard songs from Before these Crowded streets live. WOOHOO!

I guess I've yapped enough. Look what happens when I don't post for awhile !

Leslie

i'm a dumbass

i actually have listener supported. (the only dmb cd i don't have is Recently).
I suppose I should break that disc out again and give it another listen. I've been so preoccupied with the new stuff i forgot about that. LOL

It'll be nice to have live versions of the songs from everyday. what a world of difference it makes when the band is actually allowed to play, rather than accompany in those songs.

Leslie-
I am actually getting a copy of the Las Vegas shows burned. My brother's friend worked the show and has them. As some of you rabid fans may know Dave and the boys did an AMAZING rendition of Everyday/36 that the audience ran with at the Saturday show. (this was back in May) The audience kept singing "Honi Honi, come and dance with me" for like 15 minutes, forcing the band to come back on stage and take the song up again. It was INSANE!

So, according to my brother's friend, Dave was BLOWN AWAY by this and vowed to give a kickin show on Sunday night--which he absoulutely did, opening with some great classics like - Tripping Billies, Granny, Satellite, Jimi Thing, Minarets, etc.... I've seen Dave MANY times (incl. 4 times in that one week!) and my brother and his friends have seen him close to 20 times and we all agreed this was the BEST performance we'd ever seen!

Can't wait to get my hands on that disc!!!!

OK, I'm slow, but why is DMB releasing ANOTHER live show from the BTCS era? We already have Listener Supported.

Why not release something from the 2000 tour that had so much of the Lillywhite songs on so many of the set lists???

Did you guys see him on the Tribute to Heroes telethon?? I got to see both my boyfriends that night with Dave and Jon Bon Jovi both performing.

UGHHHH!!! I feel your pain about people mocking your love for Dave. My friends are always picking on me about my obsession. Plus the morning show on the radio station here was making fun of Dave. The chick was saying that he sounded like a howling dog when he hits high notes. I was soooooooo about to call in and defend his honor. I'm such a nut!!!!!!!!!!

Amycat, you're not the only one! My parents were in town this past weekend for Homecoming, and my little brother called me from the hotel to say Dave was on TV. Obviously, my whole family is clued in on the obsession. Then my poor mom proceeded to get on the phone and talk to me but I was long gone....absolutely in a daze, mesmerized by Dave on the screen! Sometimes I worry myself... Everyone getting excited about the new album coming out tomorrow???

I'm exctied about the new album, but STILL wishing it was a Summer 2000 live album, not another BTCS one. I'll LOVE it anyway, so why I'm complaining, who knows! LOL

So I heard a rumor that DMB is playing Madison Square Garden Dec 29 and 31. OK. Even though I'm in Los Angeles, if this is true, I MUST GO. I've already booked my cousin in NY's couch for the weekend and called my brother to tell him to start saving $$ for airfare.
