Thank you everyone for responding! Guess what I'm doing now...procrastinating! Ehh. I need to start the studying soon. Anyhow...

Rob, I had always thought that the colleges see ALL the scores. What I don't get is how come we have to actually send them the scores? Doesn't the Collegeboard provide all the scores in the transcript anyway? Anyhow, I read in numerous books about college admissions that colleges will SAY that they only take the best scores, but the truth is, that they'll find it real fishy if like, let's say person A got a 1200 the first time, and then like let's say, 1420 the next time...or something like that. The admissions officer thinks, "Hmm! I see that they took a prep course..." Or something like that. And then they won't only look at the 1420. They'll actually probably average the two out. Oh yeah, also Rob - I left some questions for you in my other thread about college applications...hope you can answer some of them ! Thanks .

Hey ExGreek - you're lucky! Did you wind up taking the ACT, or did you go to a school which didn't require the SATs/ACTs?

James - 400 points?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW ! I took Kaplan last year...and my score improved by around 200 points...and this is without doing any of the homework like I was supposed to! So hopefully I'll improve by more points...just as soon as I start diligently studying!

Purpleturtle, hmmmm....that sounds good! Actually, that makes sense...but can you read the thing that I wrote to Rob above? Thanks!

Corbin, I have around a 1300 right now...but I want a higher score, just b/c colleges are getting harder and harder to get into every single year, ESPECIALLY the UC system! (arghh) I'm shooting for a 1400, but I wouldn't mind AT ALL if I end up getting something higher !

SSS, I took the SAT in June. Do you think that I can still send the results like in November or something if I find out that in one section I achieved higher the first time around? I'm planning to take the SATs twice...so my last chance is coming up - October. Hmmm, and also, what if I haven't finalized my list of colleges that I want to apply to? When would I send the scores to them? Thanks a lot !

I really don't know, I'm sure there's some way to send them the scores later if you need to. There has to be. As far as transcripts go, mine only show my best scores, so I don't think you need to worry about it too much.

Thank you SSS! What's weird though is that my PSAT scores are already on my transcript - the ones from 10th grade that I basically bombed, since I decided to take it just for the heck of taking it! ugh. The ones from last year are much, much better. So I don't get why my PSAT scores from soph year are on there...ughh . I guess as soon as school starts, I'm gonna have to RACE to my counselor to get help on this whole score-sending-business!

My first time through the SAT, I got a 1280, and then it went up to a 1310. Only my math score improved, but I had over 700 in that. The median at Rose-Hulman is 1340. I dont' remember if that's the average, or the score that falls exactly in the middle. Any statistics (sadistics) majors? Anyway, this is a small private engineering college that only takes about 385/3000 applicants, and I have friends that got in with below 1200, and maybe below 1100 if I remember correctly. What I'm saying is, don't sweat it. I'm sure you'll get the school you want. Have fun! Also, if you want any more info on Rose-Hulman, check this page out: http://www.rose-hulman.edu/admissions/facts/facts.htm

It's just got some facts about the school, faculty and students.

Yeah, I would think that colleges wouldn't place too much emphasis on scores by now- I am a prime example. I scored a 1490 on my SAT and a 33 on my ACT and have come very close to failing out both semesters!!!
